To turn it around Butler needs to change his whole personality – he’s a man baby, treats fans with disrespect thinks he knows best and falls in and out with players on a regular basis. Plays players in wrong positions, provides the team with confusion in both tactics and set up and cannot take any kind of criticism (he shouldn’t have to take personal abuse but from what I gather there are genuine concerns over the team and not personal that he is reacting to).
Butler won’t be able to change any of this mainly because it’s his personality and I don’t think he can see any other side other than his own (failing) view.

The squad may be good enough to survive in this league I don’t know because they don’t know what they’re doing. With 5 minutes left we were clueless about what to do. I cannot understand the lack of urgency in pressing for an equalizer – just headless chickens. The set up has to be on the coaching staff – Ogle for Beestin wtaf….

Butler’s time should be up, the squad looks disjointed, clueless if being uber critical. The complete lack of urgency when going down a goal. A period of 30-40 seconds lapsed when Ohle played it back to Bailey? Who played it back to ogle who returned the compliment, eventually it went into the box where there was one Scunthorpe Striker. Butler’s finished for me and probably about 1,200 fans who won’t bother turning up to watch this tripe any longer.

On the two points
1) we’ve had many a talent at the club who were young, let’s hope he joins that list (Hackney, Yates, Maclean, Cork, Lansbury etc)I don’t rate our keepers but the fault lays with the outfield players who took no interest in the half time team talk and backed off until it was too late. Should Campbell have saved it? Maybe but should the shot ever have been able? No, 15 seconds into the half. Quite unforgiveable.

I re-read the news piece on the home page of this website – Butler confirms no more signings after Parker. How wrong did he get it……. everything quoted in that article is some distance from reality now.

Didn’t deserve anything, Hurst misses the whole goal from 7 yards out just supports the view he isn’t a footballer, dreadful first touch and gave away possession numerous times. Butler needs at least one win from the next two games, but I think AI could do a better job.

We were in similar position a few seasons back when the squad was dross and we couldn’t stop the rot. We do need experience to get the best out of the players and someone with contacts beyond 20 miles away. If he goes he cannot lay blame elsewhere, I still think he has a few games to turn it around but I can’t say I’m confident he can do it.

Problem will be not turning on Butler but just not turning up any more, will see a drop off of a thousand fans and more.

We’re in to the third season of the keeper position being a problem, also we struggle to keep clean sheets, not just a keeper problem but has also been an issue for a while now (Denton backing off and backing off for their goal highlights an issue that our defenders, and not the keeper has). By all means give Campbell a go but we’re wafer thin on defensive quality atm. Maybe now the league window has shut some availability will appear for a loan move or two.

We need to stop conceding soft goals, was a problem last term and appears to be this term – more worrying this term

Butler isn’t very bright – that’s the only thing I can think when he spends the off season getting wingers in then going 5 at the back with players who aren’t wing backs. When Butterfield went off the intelligent play went with him, midfield looked empty, Rowley half hearted attempt for their 4th goal.
Howe should’ve scored but so should they – at least 3 times more than they did.

Not many calling for Butler’s head after three games – the 10 game mark, or 20-25% of the season – if we’re playing in the same shambolic way then serious discussion is needed. We just need some decent glimpses of what this side can offer because I’ve seen nothing yet (I don’t count the Mickey Mouse tournament)

If it continues for 10 games I would say it would be more costly to stick with Butler, flirting with the bottom 4 sees a massive drop off in revenue and NLN is unthinkable. Undersdtand we have directors with good intentions but maybe not the deep pockets we would want but if we’re playing at the same levels after 10 games I think he has to go. He had bought really poorly. The spine of the team is everything and we are are woefully short in every part of that spine – Keeper – awful choices no decent keeper never mind a back up, CB’s two decent but if Howe’s knee is an issue we are in trouble, CM still waiting for that combative tempo controlling player / the midfield looks lost most of the time, attack Whitehall is OK in very short bursts but needs to tidy his game up (as in stay upright for more than 30 seconds). Some of our full back/defensive play is not fit for Sunday league. Butler needs to shape up and quick

It shows the problem though centre back goes off and no proper cover so Ogle comes on. Their second goal really poor defending yet again.

It’s really concerning, toothless up front Starbuck diabolical Brennan really poor. Butler needs to give them a rocket otherwise he’ll be under pressure, could be in bottom 4 tonight

Had concerns about quality of squad and those have got worse. Early days yet and the 10 game benchmark needs hitting but look toothless up front and midfield looks disjointed and weak. Keeper situation will get worse as season progresses

Will be interesting to see what Butler does if we’re 1 up in a game and wants to protect the lead, many times last season we failed at this, watching Tuchel’s mastercalss against the Argies will Butler have learnt? Sadly one trait he has which is almost fatal for progression is his stubbornness and rigid approach. We need Butler to develop as a manager for the sake of him and the club. He shows no signs of development just yet.
