Cox still has time on his hands but for god sake play your best players in the correct positions, buy/loan a good keeper and right back (because Watson and Hornshaw aren’t the answers). The two best players on that pitch got moved to different more defensive positions – that just beggars belief.
It’s the worrying lack of quality. You can forgive Cox for having to put up with the Chairman’s signings (which are generally shit and what you’d expect from a non football type) but playing Gillead right back and sitting Taylor deep – which basically nullified any effect he had on the game is just extremely poor management
Here’s a jinx for you….Tranmere haven’t scored a goal this season in the league yet….
and square pegs square holes
I want Cox to be given plenty of time. However the main stream of revenue is ifollow at the minute and you can’t serve up that crap week in week out.
He has lots of wingers, use your best two for every match. O’Malley and Clarke when fit will be more than capable cover (assuming 4-4-2/4-5-1)
It was vital to get the three points so we move on….but we can’t repeat those tactics that we had for the last 25 minutes reverting to 8-1-1 formation no outlet. Let’s face it Carlisle were very unlikely, came across an inspired performance by our keeper, it won’t happen too many times and a goal by them would’ve put a huge dampener on it. Interesting comments he had about Eisa – he had planned for a defensive game. I don’t think he knows how to use his wingers
I fear we have a younger version of Wilcox. I want him to go back to the promises about attacking football getting it on the deck and quick passing. He’s got the full season to get it right so he needs to think about attacking and entertaining – his words.
Watson 9 3 excellent saves 1 spill in the box
Hornshaw 5 has struggled last two games needs to improve and we need Clarke back
Cordner 7 Solid enough
Bedeau 6 one slip should’ve led to their goal
O Malley 7 I like the look of him needs to get forward more
Hippolyte 4 offered nothing – what is more worrying is Cox kept him on the pitch
Spence 6 tidy enough
Vincent 6 as above
Gillead 7 good runs and positions but needs strikers with more positional sense in front of him
Hallam 7 good goal should have killed the game off
Loft 7 some good footwork needs to work more on decision making with passing and attacking in the boxCox 5 Even though its a win I have seen nothing I like about him yet, aside from the fact he’s local and ‘knows the club’ the tactics to date leave a lot to be desired. Carlisle lost that game (and Watson won it). He has plenty of time left but we can’t keep playing like this.
It looks like a really poor division with a lot of poor teams.
this is Swann’s formation – always has been.
If we can’t get at least a point against this dog shit then we are in trouble
How many players are bring others into play now?
A Greek goddess nonetheless
Man with money and no football brain plays football manager. Problem is the fall guys are club legends. It was a risk with a full squad, a threadbare squad with no rocks and a dodgy keeper is a worry.
Swann has apparently learnt lessons but it feels like we’re back on the same ride.
Didn’t he just claim Swanny was a sacker of managers?
Are they any further forward with seating details for a potential October start? Presumably DRE closed with home fans sat in away end?
Really disgusting stuff. Compounded by the Scunny groundsman saying all Scunny fans are the same!!
I don’t think he realised the seriousness of the issue and just threw his remarks in without thinking but pretty stupid thing to do
Swann playing football manager again – and failing again
It’s a real world problem we have a boring negative manager. He has neutralised the clubs best assets – assets worth a lot less under his tutorship. All I want is Russ to go back to U23’s – if that is still a thing – and a young attack minded manager with good connections (Mcsheffrey) to come in. Prize money for finishing 6th or above a lot better than 23rd or 24th. I get we have to be frugal but settling with a negative manager who is easy to play against isn’t being careful with money, quite the opposite.
It’s the perfect storm – Wilcox in charge with a young side with severe shortage in all defensive positions. If we are going with youth then we must have a different manager. I can stomach the risk of going down cheap youth option – I cannot stomach Wilcox in charge in any scenario.
Clinging on to the ‘he got us promoted’ tag line isn’t going to wash. You are only as good as your last game – Cods at home, 5 at the back, wingers neutralised. Embarrassment.
