The last days of the Third Reich, the Fuhrer kept dismissing his general’s because they weren’t winning the war. He had no idea about logistics, troop movement, defensive and offensive actions or even the number and quality of materiel left but he was the leader, he did amazing things with great resources available to him 1936-1942 he was on the cusp of breaking Moscow (in the championship back then) but inexplicably turned south to Stalingrad and abandoned one if his great generals rather than allowing him to control his own forces, from that moment on he had lost but his control became ever tighter removing anybody with experience or expertise in matters of war…,,
I don’t think COVID has had much of an effect on league position but it will on clubs ability to function, most clubs had good solid professionals in, we used the pandemic to get rubbish in, Wilcox saw it coming so didn’t want it and we ended up with Cox. This would’ve happened anyway is my guess…..
Perfect storm of Covid, chairman-selected squad with no balance experience or confidence and a rookie manager struggling with the job.
We’ll be non league next year unless other clubs don’t last as long as us which is an awful place to be.
We’ll be non league with around 30 professional players with crowds of 1,500. Thing is most of the vanity project players from Swann won’t be good enough for that league.
last 15 games W1 D1 L13.
Last 15 games
W1 D1 L13granted a couple were in last season but the club is dying. Cox has been dealt a crap hand but will be dismissed shortly as is the want if the commander in chief
Ferrite
it is baffling, we need new players, we should not have gone through close season with the Chairman picking players for the club. This is why we are in the predicament we are in whereby we need some experience down the spine to have a chance of remaining in the football league. We don’t need more players we just needed the right players picked by the right type of person in the first place. Ex players coming out saying the same tells the real story.
I wouldn’t have expected any movement for the 7 days after the postponement ad I think everybody stayed away from the club.
I would hope that we get two new experienced players through the door this coming week to allow us to try and push up the table to ease some fears.
However, with the new lockdown I would think the EFL may start to look at whether leagues one and two can continue. They can’t furlough players for November and most clubs have said end Nov is when the money runs out. Let’s face it without a vaccine we’ll be doing the same in February
we were playing Saturday Tuesday for almost upto Christmas. Whilst some injured players may recover how many will subsequently get injured cramming in these games and whilst we have the numbers in the squad we don’t have strength in depth.
About time with the cancellations. The bigger picture is we could be 5-6 points adrift by the time we play our games and who is to say it won’t come round again or cancellations from other teams. I’m not advocating that we play I think the EFL have to take a serious look at this season and how disjointed and grossly unfair it will be on teams – it is somewhat shallow to moan about it being in the position we are in but this will occur again and again – with a backdrop of no fans and sterile football. It is killing the game and we are in the perfect storm of the chairman assembling the worst squad in history
Howard 6 some good saves and promising debut marks off for the howler
O Malley 6 steady got an assist for the goal
Onoraise 8 good display and will only get better, first name on team sheet now
Rowe 7 great debut, fantastic aerial ability and got the goal. should be pleased with that debut and should be starting again
Hornshaw 5 steady but still not up to league standard
Taylor 6 linked a bit better with Beestin in the centre
Beestin 7 solid game in the centre needs to start alongside Taylor
Hippolyte 5 really hasn’t got much pace or ability to beat his man
McAtee 6.5 much better performance and probably needs a run of games. Didn’t like it when got subbed and ignored the guy coming on
Jarvis Too isolated and needs to do better when chances come his way (I fear I will copy and paste this for every match)
Green 7 played well and used his pace well again would benefit from a run of games
Ref was fair and let the game flow
Didn’t deserve a 3-1 defeat but such is our predicament
Agreed, this is just a public health risk absolute nonsense to play with so much of the virus in and around the squad
Trialist A
Trialist B,C, D, E
Trialist F,G,H, Gillead
Eisa, Trialist I
Les, if I played last night and you gave me a 4 for trying I would be over the moon getting a 4 alongside professional footballers. Trust me it wouldn’t be a great watch. It’s all subjective but I believe some of those players should not be professional footballers
It’s what the fans wanted ……this is the narrative the club are peddling so it will be our fault.
fela was not up to scratch with us before but we have fallen so far under the Prawns tenure that we do need him back to try and get a 4-4-2 going – that’s just how bad it is.
Watson 5 Still not a keeper
Hornshaw 2 not going to make it. Ridiculous penalty and inexplicably ran the ball out of play twice. Really bad
Bedeau 5 average game
Onoraise 7 solid
Cordner 4 poor distribution liability at corners again
OMalley 5 most sides exploit the poor positional awareness,
Taylor 4 average, would so better with some quality alongside
Gillead 4 out of position not in the game
Spence 4 Poor distribution and still struggles to track back
Eisa 6 improved showing should’ve done better with the shot
Jarvis 5 not really a goalscorer – but then again none of the fit strikers are which is a major problem.Better performance but we are not scoring and still conceding
Swann needs to pull his finger out and get a GK CM quick sharp
I am going to try and be positive, 3-0 defeat only
Not many fans wanted a family run transfer committee with no footballing knowledge. I was ambivalent about Turnbull but those who wanted him out would assume, like with managers, to be replaced with suitably qualified and experienced person
Awaywego – should’ve qualified, the latest batch of signings – the ones where we had no footballing scout, set up or manager in place.
Swann thinks being rich gives him an ability to run a football club like a vanity project. The fans will be picking up the pieces once he’s finished playing football manager.
I struggle to comprehend the thought process the Swann family went through thinking they knew what players to buy and that they would make a profit selling them on. just crazy! If any of these Swann signings are on more than £300/week they’re stealing a living
Watson- 2 needs to hang up his gloves, not a goalkeeper
Bedeau 4 getting gradually worse
Cordener 3 all over the place positionally, not going to make it as a footballer
Onaraise 7 did well whilst all around went missing, for a CB to get 7 in a 5-0 defeat says something
Spence 4 nothing to say about him, just jogging around doing little
Gillead 5 added little
Taylor 5 won’t be around long – getting absolutely ruined by this club
Hippolyte 0 I have never seen a worst performance by a professional footballer, including that fella Souness signed who wasn’t a footballer. Don’t bother coming back after the suspension
McAtee 2 I don’t know what move he thinks he will get playing like that. Another embarrassment
Loft 2 Just shit really
Jarvis 5 isolated one nice touch not his faultCox 4 not his fault but listening to the RH interview seems like he cannot do anything with this bunch and the fact he is starting out himself makes it worse.
Swann – should be nowhere near football
Good god imagine what the Swann committee trawler will scrape out of the footballing sea bed now.
Don’t forget Swann said these players are exciting…..
maybe Swann doesn’t get involved in the u23’s
Watson 5 still too weak, lots of long balls straight to the keeper
Hornshaw 4 not good enough for league football
Bedeau 5 too many basic errors
Cordner 4 very poor positioning and very weak
O’Malley 5 not his best game but should learn by watching how FGR played. I think he will learn more looking at how others play rather than learning from our manager (ironically)
Eisa 6 some good spots but needs more game time and confidence
Spence 6 basic simple passing – choice between attacking pass or pass back he picks the latter
Vincent 4 getting worse by the game and too much like Spence. Both quite negative players stifles any movement or creativity
Gillead 6.5 tried several runs but when support required nobody near
Taylor 5 started brightly but learned that nobody was making runs finding space or trying to dominate so started to become a busy fool dropping deep and appearing everywhere to the detriment of his attacking instinct. The player Vale had is a lot different because of the players he is playing with
Jarvis 5 isolated, good goal, keeper should’ve stopped nothing elseLoft 3 Awful awful positional sense has no idea where to put himself, passing needs work
McAtee 5 ok needs game time and sort his attitude
Beestin some decent touches not on long
Cox 3 mixed feelings; he’s been dealt a really shit hand with the players he’s got and those injured but I see no tactical nous or any ability to affect the game.
Swann needs to get a keeper RB and CM in on loan or other asap otherwise our only hope will be not finishing the season. Whatever he thinks will work, won’t. We need experience
We’ve got no evidence Swann interferes with the football management and I doubt we’ll ever know; what we do know is that McAll, Cox, and Hirst (maybe more) all stated 442 in the press but ended up playing the 352 which never worked and we also know that we have a whole heap of players that the Chairman bought without a manager in place, most of these players are turning in really poor performances on a regular basis. We also know the Charimam said these players are exciting….. I’ve seen more exciting knitting patterns
we’re being outclassed all over the pitch. Taylor must be wondering what he’s done wrong to end up here.
All of the Prawn’s signings are turning out poor performances on a regular basis. Surprising that!
I for one would like the club to help him out, granted I do not know the full details but a bit of faith in him would hopefully see him on the right track and perform to his ability. He’s done wrong but if he takes on board his punishment surely he can be rehabilitated.
If he’s got previous of assaulting a police officer then fair enough he’s had a second chance.
It’s a shame, I was at the Wigan Doncaster match when he scored and came off – the Wigan fans had nothing but good things to say about him and clearly just starting on family life. Sometimes there are deeper rooted problems that people need help with but sometimes they’re just wrong uns. Hoped Ryan was in the former.
He clearly needs help. Assaulting a policeman outside Taco Bell late Wednesday night (whilst drunk) points towards bigger issues. He can’t be in a good place at the minute
Day 1: I’m going to play crisp passing attacking 4-4-2 football and put the pride and passion back into the club
Day 2: Ernest: Can you come into my office Neil
Day3: We’re going to play (checks instructions) 3-5-2 with players playing in the wrong positions and then we’re going to rest/fall out with the talent and play attacking players in defence so they can use the ball more because we don’t like it in the opposition box.
I’ve seen all the games so far (league), all the teams have been shit. But we’ve managed 8 shots on target in 6 hours of football. We’ve had bizarre formations (Ernest Prawn no doubt) and mini fall outs with the best players. 4pts out of 12 and zero entertainment.
