I remember him commentating on Argentina V England 1998 when he said ‘there’s only one team winning this now – England!’. We know the rest…

Why is Keegan the best example?
Regardless of people’s views on Watson’s capabilities, it doesn’t excuse some of the worst insults pelted by a few. And no amount of gaslighting I’ve seen on X accusing those who called it out as being ‘Hilton’s Top Boys’ and part of his Cult will hide those follies.
York haven’t been ‘arse holes’ as you subtly put it. They’ve tried to be canny and it may or may not help their cause. I think the club were right to let him go back given York’s demands mind, and I assume they knew they could extend Mahady’s loan if they did that.
‘if we get Mahady on loan for the rest of the season come January I would be more than happy.’
You’ll be crucifying him within weeks if he doesn’t live up to your high expectations. All part of the modern football fans insistence on instant gratification and perfection.
‘Piss poor budgeting, I’m sure you’ll agree that you’ve not left enough in the kitty to have a second goalie on the books halfway through preseasoniss poor budgeting, I’m sure you’ll agree that you’ve not left enough in the kitty to have a second goalie on the books halfway through preseason’
Not only is that factually incorrect, I suspect you’re mistaking Butler saying they weren’t prepared to pay York what they were insisting on to keep Rory with budgeting.
The between the lines reader, probably.
Concentrate on the league, etc.
The worst fans in the country, according to awaywego.
Meanwhile on Twiitersphere, Dan the Scunnylad with some mystifying thoughts only he knows the true relevance of.
‘Feel for the lad – York, Blackpool & Rochdale away. He’s on a bit of a hiding to nothing and the happy clappers will be out in force if we get spanked.’
Disappointing news. Hope he enjoys his return to York where, if he gets starts, I’ve no doubt he won’t be so harshly blamed for them not looking like world beaters.
No one with a contract is going to be inclined to be paid off as cheaply as possible.
Jimmy ‘two times’ in the Mortz: ‘I’m gonna go get a programme, get a programme’.
I now know look forward to ‘New York New York’ replacing that drivel from Jeff Beck just before kick off in the DRE from now on.’
Bring it on. Or The Soprano’s theme tune by Alabama 3 please.
‘Dense’, ‘self righteous’, ‘up one’s own arse’. Did someone force you to watch the women’s football last night mate? You seem a bit narked.
I have never said I don’t go to ‘any’ games awaywego. During the Hilton era I barely went because I couldn’t stomach giving my money to him and the fanbase was particularly toxic in that period. Gradually started attending more and more over the last season or two, and when I can’t it’s DAZN or Humberside commentary. Not that attending more than others should command more right to opinion than someone who attends every single match, as you seem to think it does.
Tbh IFA, I think he’s referring to a few that have overstepped the mark, but I think he’d be better off ignoring them. That said he probably wants to be seen as protecting his players, and that’s a good managerial trait to have in my opinion.

Ha, given Butler’s ‘don’t bother coming’, ‘what are you bringing?’ comments come straight after his withering response to Rory’s constant criticism from certain supporters, I think it’s pretty obvious which ‘two’ he’s referring to. For the record, I think he’s wrong to suggest they stay away (one in particular has done much for the club) but completely agree, certain criticisms, I’ve highlighted numerous times on here, have overstepped the mark and won’t influence his decisions anyway. Are some of you going to accuse Butler of being obsessed and having an agenda? Maybe, listening to Butler, some of you might start to appreciate the wider social media arena a bit more and what’s being said beyond Bru.
You do know Butler is talking to you as well 64 with your constant criticism of Danny, just stay away he doesn’t want you there, well if that’s if you go anyway.
Crowd would be halved if he had his way when it comes to opinions on a certain Mark Beck. Why are you intent on suggesting some of us on here, including me, don’t attend games?
Agreed. Hopefully come good in time.
Happy to have been unable to listen to today’s commentary. Hope normal Ollie and Torps service is resumed sooner rather than later.
Dawson had a decent outing against Truro. A bit off thr boil since. Maybe he finds it difficult to get going without consistent game time?
A tad baffling his showings since the excellent Truro display. Intrigued to know if it’s a fitness thing or he just came up against an opposition defence who couldn’t deal with him. Bearing in mind in that game the side seemed to be at the peak of their powers and have since tailed off. Perhaps the players around him made him look better than he currently is that day? Still scored a scorcher mind, any day of the week.
Lol, brother at GP just texted me saying Rory pulled off a decent save worthy of at least Sunday league. Hope the Dog & Duck don’t come calling. Woof quack!

My ‘perplexed’ observation was a general one, beyond but including the Bru vacuum but I understand your perplexity Phil. My view is that if players are injured they’re injured and others must be played. Today’s line up should be more than enough to beat Aldershot and I trust Butler to know what he’s doing. Chadwick over Carlton makes sense to me, for instance.
Just to add, rather than the team sheet, our defence perplexes me, exponentially!
Amazes me why supporters seem so increasingly perplexed when the line up picked isn’t what they expected.
Predicting a 2-1. Won’t be there today sadly – the rough and tumble of the Mortz was all getting a bit too much. No wonder I don’t go to matches anymore ;)
Unless you’re Russ
‘it was far worse back then. Well for the likes of you anyway.’
You’re wrong about that in regards to facilities like we had at OSG. I loved it far more than anything we have now. No issue with the hooliganism either. It happened and we were all young once. Certainly added some excitement (not everyone will agree). I’m not completely pro-sanitising the match day experience, and not a fan of Savage btw.
