Don’t like to see any club going down but after the smugness from a few Oldham fans I witnessed recently and listening to R5 yesterday afternoon harping on about Oldham potentially getting relegated with barely a mention of us, I’ve little sympathy for them.

Appreciate the update awaywego. Sounds a little promising. Kind of.

Indeed. Remember that happening more than once. As a skint schoolkid it certainly wasn’t me who had the extra cash! 30-40 might be an exaggeration come to think of it. More like 20-30. But it was better than doing nothing. Marginally 😆
Very occasional midweek away victories in the early 80s, savoured by the 30-40 diehards who probably just made it feasible to run a Holloways coach. Something would always happen to raise a laugh. Fond memories.

Not the ‘best’ memory by any stretch of the imagination but a vivid one is getting hammered at Kenilworth Road on New Year’s Day and virtually all the travelling fans singing ‘The Great Escape’ for the whole second half non-stop. Unity and defiance in the face of relegation. That’s before we had the club ripped from under our feet of course. When it still felt like ours.

Might add to this thread at some point in the future. Tonight I feel numb and physically sick.

‘Beating Sheff Wed away in a mid week night game when Laws was in charge of them’
That was a very very good night.

Asking for a friend? 😁

Maybe someone meeting up with Lee at the pub in Leyton could ask him to clarify if he’s a Director or not? If he’s not please ask him how he can be the acting Chair of the Board. It’s not being tricky but does have implications.
Would Turnbull actually need to be appointed as a director to be COO though?
A COO doesn’t have to be a Director. But an acting Chair has to be on the Board. So is he actually acting Chair or not?
Not according to Companies House he isn’t. Unless, the change hasn’t been filed yet? Something you would normally action within a few days through webfiling and takes a day or two to be approved. What’s the hold up?

Not according to the Companies House record:

Yes, it’s usually the case. In the absence of a Chair (eg. current one has stepped down) the attendees can nominate one to Chair the meeting. The ex-Chair is unlikely to be at the meeting but could be, unless they’ve resigned from the board.
What are you saying Renee? In effect, little has changed?
Both likeable fellows tick, and sunak swann and Wharton all overspent tick, where’s the poor analogies Deerey. If Renee’s are ok.
Lol, there you go with that classic ‘awaywego irony’!
Saying a goalkeeper is shocking isn’t exactly professing ‘goalkeepers’ to be your ‘specialist subject’. It’s an observation.
Very poor analogies awaywego, and sacrilege comparing Adkins to Johnson in any way, shape or form.

Icing on the cake for me was having Beckford in for a while too. An amazing curler at home to (?) followed by a near identical goal at Gresty Road in mid-week. Really spoilt. As if we didn’t have enough gems.
Rotherham. We played terribly and then Beckford did that. Later in the game, their German midfielder Bopp missed a penalty. A German missing a penalty? It really was our year!
Think you’re right. Crewe away was a week or two after this ridiculous bit of skill below. Can’t upload the Crewe goal as I can only see it on Facebook. Same position and angle but just outside the box and only one helpless defender 🤣

‘Bucks is noticeable by his absence, he was one of the worst for telling us what idiots we were and that Swann is a brilliant businessman’
And frequently ridiculed me and others for questioning why he was suddenly backing a new stadium when he’d previously dismissed it on the grounds of low supporter base and catchment area, interest, etc, bandying some stats around. Seemingly overnight he bought wholesale into Swann’s plans on spurious grounds, tantamount to believing the hype. When questioned, Bucks would merely reply ‘an entirely predictable attack from you Deerey, when did I ever say that?!’

‘…and other reasons’.
Film ‘star’?! 🤣🤣
Sad scumbags

I can understand an Iron supporter might think it’s a waste of time and detrimental to protest, but I can’t understand one that so doggedly tries to undermine it as UTI99. Unless…

Freedom of expression and the right to protest. Potential new owners might actually appreciate a section of fans not being so apathetic. Surely they’re not that naive to think Swann wants to sell because everything in the garden is rosy? They might look around and think ‘f*** me, a complete imbecile could run this better!’

Allo allo, maybe have a lie down?
Potential new owners at the game tomorrow. All eyes on the directors box.
Hmm, now where have I read that already today? Kind of…
All eyes on the exec box tomorrow!

UTI99: “I’m sorry Dad, I really am. I tried to undermine any protests but I’ve let you down! Can I still have my pocket money you moron?”

Thou doth protest too much UTI99.

‘Whereas others, who would still love to go are being stubborn and deliberately boycotting the club just because of Swann. Cutting your nose off to spite your face so to speak.’
A little black amd white IMO. Couple of observations:
I wonder what the percentage is of people who would love to go but choose not to, purely because of Swann? Some say it but I’d wager a good chunk are staying away for a number of reasons, economic, social, personal, etc, that include Swann. Easier and more direct to say on social media it’s purely down to Swann, particularly on Twitter where you can’t write a thesis.
As you say yourself, you’ve stopped going because you lost interest in football altogether. There are likely to be a combination of factors why the majority of fans are staying away, to a greater or lesser degree. There’s a bit of hyperbole about staying away purely because of Swann, I think. That’s not to say he, and the way he’s run the club, aren’t huge factors, I’m sure they are. Perhaps this also partly explains his stepping back? An attempt to lure back the stayaways? Gonna take a lot more than that though!
