    I suspect the voice of Brusters isn’t high on their agenda.

    Would be a big success story if they can get the best out of him. You never know. We definitely need to start generating more income from transfers and sell ons.

    Can’t see England beating Mexico in high altitude Azteca in the Mexicans current form. One decent half from England out of six. I’m struggling to share much optimism based on what I’m seeing and the players at Tuchel’s disposal. Ignore the pundits, they’re just grifting for more work based on their ‘positivity’. Even the formerly critical Keane is at it. Following the gig money.

    Yes, maybe. Don’t think his wife wading in on social media helped!

    Tuchel’s excuses and advance excuses are wearing a bit thin. Apparently England were in one of the toughest groups (er, no they weren’t) and DR Congo will be another tough match. Yes, it may well be, but didn’t ought to be. Good teams find a way against low block sides. It’s not like he didn’t know who we’d playing in the group stages and those possibles in the early KO stage so plenty of time to prepare for it. The fact that he’s taken players with dodgy fitness levels and low on flair players is all on him. Happy to be proven wrong about him but at present I’m not convinced he knows what he’s doing. State of that defence. Our sieve defence could perform better!

    I wrote that on another thread. Memory is not what it was. Not attempting to rewrite history but was it not the case that the contract was deemed so poor he went to ‘moneybags’ Gateshead, which implied he couldn’t have been so high up on Butler’s agenda, or they would have upped the financial incentive? Still not convinced about the appointment, but understand SODIron’s interest in the coaching side. Proof will be in the pudding. If he can become the National League Figo (later years), pick out those passes and generally coach decent passing, it will be most welcome.

    I don’t understand this appointment at all given how he wasn’t in Butler’s plans before and what happened after he left. Do I have to pay £6 a month to find out what the rationale is for this decision?

    @RadioHumberside understands ex-#Iron midfielder Jacob Butterfield is set to return to @SUFCOfficial as a player-coach.

    Regarding the interviews, I rarely watch them tbh. Very light touch and a bit sychophantic at times. Much prefer an impartial interview via BBC Humberside.

    Burnham talking a good game. Can he deliver? We shall see. Certainly has the ability to take people who get things done along with him. Some pants browned in Westminster with the notion of ‘No.10 North’ anyway. A mission to re-build the Red Wall? Perhaps. He’ll need some quick wins to keep the chavs, gammons and weirdo’s at bay.

    Is it any surprise England are all over the place with Tuchel the Tinkerer? Some might say he doesn’t know what he’s doing.

    ‘once bought a black coffee and it was shite.’

    Last time I bought one under the Mortz, the little milk cartons were off. No ever again.

    Abject performance from England against a very low quality and resourced side. Playing like a bunch of fairly talented footballers who’ve rarely played together. Oh, wait…

    ‘Also the clubs attitude is take/take all the time, this would have been a golden opportunity to reward club sponsors at all levels from main club/stand sponsors down to player shirt/transfer news announcement sponsors (deliberately chucked that one in).’

    Aye. Not getting are they. Don’t see it changing any time soon.

    My daughter’s working those Hyde Park events the next 3 weekends in Comms. Yesterday sounded horrendous in 35-36 degrees heat. Thankfully starting to cool down a bit today. She’s got a swanky air conditioned room in a hotel off Marble Arch on expenses, but I doubt she’d be up sharing it mate :)

    ‘Whats happened to ironbru, virtually every single comment on here is now a whinge or a moan about something’

    And also, ‘virtually every single comment’ is factually complete rubbish, and secondly, it’s a similar sort of charge directed at Bru during the Swann and Hilton era’s. So think on.

    People bigging up the Rolling Stones. Yeah, probably a good live band if you’re in to that stadium shit, but artistically manure. Do one. Music for idiots.

    Correction: I do like a few tracks by them but the whole deification of them is unjustified. Some may say that about The Beatles of course but they are either tone deaf or aliens.

    It’s a space for supporters, who wish to, to chew the cud and have a natter about football and Iron related stuff. Occasionally have a laugh and a few disagreements and leg pulling. Mostly those contributing get along okay, as the above posts demonstrates. Think it’s doing absolutely fine to be frank. Bit like Iron Insider; engagement is optional not compulsory.

    It seems to me that the best thing the club could do right now is:

    • withdraw the scheme;
    • acknowledge that with hindsight they made a mistake;
    • state that lessons have been learned and they are committed to efforts to listen to the fan voice from all ranges of opinion.
    • co-create a supporter engagement and communications strategy with fans’ groups and representatives.

    Your last point raised a wry smile. Sorry, smirk:)

    I’ll be glad when Scotland are out of it. All this ‘chance to be a legend’, ‘wonderful fans’, ‘Flower of Scotland’ overkill is tiresome and naff.

    I question how much of the applause to bring him back is driven by sentimentality and wig gimmickry. Though, clearly he can do a decent job at this level.

    Not seen any other team so far who have parked the bus and parked it so effectively for the vast majority of the game. None of the top sides would have found it easy to break down though some have a magician or two who could. Always thought it could be a tough game and Queiroz outfoxed Tuchel there. Knew how his team could get a draw against a good England side but lacking that class A quality in too many areas to be serious tournament winning contenders. If the majority of English pundits can’t see that they’re either kidding themselves or deluded. Or following the gig money.

    Staggering what folk are comfortable with turning a blind eye to isn’t it. Not limited to pensioners peacefully protesting either.
