‘Football is really not for you and I understand why you don’t go to games anymore Deerey,’

Pity that statement is completely untrue, not that it matters a jot, though I wondered how long it would be before you wheeled out that rubbish.

‘I’ve been going for 56 years now and it’s the same now as it always as been.’

Another load of BS I’m afraid. It’s a very different experience. You just make up stuff in an attempt to justify your Neanderthal like attitude and prejudices (i.e. women shouldn’t be allowed to attend mens games, etc). You’re a dinosaur.

Agree with Cass about the older days before my time in the 50s. You don’t even understand he’s saying it was different back then awaywego, not the same as these days, like you’d prefer it to say.

Never mind the nostalgia, but grant you it’s far more safer nowadays, your segregated nowadays can’t you remember having hooligans of both sides in the same end. tragedy chanting nearly all gone, racist chanting nearly all gone, grounds nearly all seating, women made more welcome obviously not by me but in general.
Better overall facilities especially the toilets, bogs back in the day can’t even remember a light being on in the fox street bogs.
So yes I suppose I have made it up saying things are the same now as they’ve always been, it was far worse back then.
Well for the likes of you anyway.

Yes, I do think welcoming more fans in and not having monkey chants or banana skins thrown at black players is a good thing about football today and if everyone but the likes of Deerey are happier with that, I am not ashamed to say I would prefer to be round the likes of Deerey than anyone being a racist, homophobic and sexist berk.

You seem to be tying yourself in knots awaywego. One minute you’re saying it’s the same as back then, then you randomly wheel in anything about the match day experience other than what the topic (which I didn’t start btw and wouldn’t have bothered raising) is about: Robbie Savage complaining about discriminatory and abusive chanting that over stepped the line (though we still don’t know what specific language he’s complaining about).

Tragedy chanting hasn’t nearly gone btw. It’s very much still around. Like racist chanting though, it’s far less than previous times.

It doesn’t bother me too much personally if I hear discriminatory chanting and it won’t stop me going to support the Iron, never has done, but one, it’s a bit naff and depressing and I keep a fair distance from it, and two, it’s a sad state of affairs if it puts some people off going, which research shows it does. Not attending matches due to it or attending and not feeling welcome or threatened is basically saying ‘you can go if you can handle it but you’ve no right to complain because we’re living in the dark ages so put up or shut up’.

Lol, careful now Siderite, you’ll get accused of being ‘buddy’ again like on another thread. Whatever relevance that had?

‘it was far worse back then. Well for the likes of you anyway.’

You’re wrong about that in regards to facilities like we had at OSG. I loved it far more than anything we have now. No issue with the hooliganism either. It happened and we were all young once. Certainly added some excitement (not everyone will agree). I’m not completely pro-sanitising the match day experience, and not a fan of Savage btw.

You missed out the line above Deerey, so no tying of knots from me I’m afraid.
Haven’t heard a racist or tragedy chant in years, anybody else heard one lately?
And I’m wrong about the facilities from then to now, wow really.

AWG, saying abuse for being Welsh is acceptable? Give your head a wobble, any discrimination on race, ethnicity, colour, etc is wholly unacceptable.
