When was the last time we scored 3?

Missed the pen though, now why would we call him back one wonders.
Might not want to now and if he doesn’t want to, what’s the point?
Did you listen to their commentary Rene?
At least there’s some room for optimism again, scoring goals and pulling their socks up.

Where does this second half turnaround leave the ‘he’s lost the dressing room’ BS Brigade? Not on Bru I should add. I know you’re better that that.
Whitehall attempted cons 5-0 goals he scores. Time he started doing the right thing instead of letting his manager and side down.
I knew this would motivate him. You’re welcome Danny.
‘There were other issues. Gaza being one, but there is a risk of pigeon holing the Islamic vote as being monofocussed, which plays into the hands of anti-Muslims’
Having spoken to a fair number of Muslim people in the neighbourhood, and even more at a recent Islamic culture event I took part in, I can assure you Gaza was the predominant factor. This is fact. I couldn’t care less what anti-Muslims are saying tbh, it’s pointless. People have protest voted for decades. That’s all it is and nothing wrong with it if that’s how people feel. Of course it’s not the only reason why a portion of Muslims voted that way, but I can only tell you what I heard and saw on the ground, beyond the work of social media, press and media.
Should also point out that this charge of ‘sectarian voting’ has come from both Labour and Reform. I wouldn’t expect anything less from Reform but it’s very poor from Labour, trying to demonise legitimate election campaigning tactics. They’re both just making lame excuses.
I feel for decent people in local authorities that may become run by Reform after May. They’re absolute lunatics. Those that vote for them get what they deserve but it’s harsh on those that are against them and have to put up with their mismanagement and racism unless they move out the area.
Some make a brief appearance on here buoyed by the rise of Reform no doubt. Probably sidled off following defeat yesterday.
Anyway, good to see the back of Goodwin. Total c***.
I was in favour of Burnham standing but now I’m not so sure he’d have won it anyway. The level of Green campaigning and visible support was off the scale. Never seen anything like it. I suspect the amount of voting in the Gorton side from the more liberal, left leaning young voters and disenfranchised older Labour voters, including a portion of the Muslim vote unhappy about the government’s stance on Gaza outweighed the fairweather fascists over in Denton. Thankfully the anti fascist vote wasn’t split allowing Reform in. Local elections I suspect Labour losing Wards to both Reform and Green.

February 27, 2026 at 4:17 pm in reply to: Yet another…’what have you been listening today?’ Thread #316834We need to beat Solihull tomorrow and not a Southend type lucky win. And no pass backs to Mahady, if Butler does not want boos from the home fans.
A convincing win please, with players in their correct positions.Butler will be looking about for you in the stand after reading this. Oh, sorry, he doesn’t look at social media…
‘And no pass backs to Mahady, if Butler does not want boos from the home fans.’
Seems harsh. The occasional pass back to the keeper does no harm. Not if it becomes the go to move though
No shame in being defensive and a bit tetchy in interviews, keen to protect his players. Give me that over Dean’s meaningless drawling waffle any day.
He is doing a great job. Rough patch but with players upping their game, a few decent recruits and returning injured players, he has a fighting chance of turning it round in the run in.

I don’t know what I’m more incredulous about – watching York’s third goal on Tuesday night or reading Ian Sharp’s reaction to it:
‘As painful as it is to watch us concede I can’t deny that’s not a spectacular goal with an incredible fans reaction. The national league is criminally underrated for the level of clubs and fans who watch and support week in week out. Needs more attention from the higher ups.’
Yes Ian, it’s painful to watch. End of. No need for the rest.
Sad news indeed and my condolences to his family, friends and former team mates. There is a nice item on him on the club website pre this news.
Never gave less than 100% for the fans and he was a very quiet and modest person, was a pleasure to talk to and a sad day when he left the club. Remember that cup goal – didn’t Chris Simpkin make the killer pass to him ?
RIP Stuart.
Yes. According to Staffy, ‘all United’s forwards stood on one side of the centre circle. Houghton passed to Collier on the first blast of the whistle. Collier turned to ease it back to Simpkin. Simpkin ran forward, moved to the left and passed to Pilling. Stuart Pilling lobbed the ball high over the top of the stretching fingers of King in the Millwall goal as he toppled backwards in despair. Twelve seconds 1-0 and the game effectively won’.
Wish I’d seen it. One for the ages.

‘Stuart played in some of the poorest teams the Iron have ever had, but along with others as individuals they could play football.’
Totally agree. Mid to late 70s matches were poor, results and general crowd wise but there were some skillful players like Pilling, Cammack, O’Berg and Grimes, who had a bit of flair and gave it their all.

Does his “fastest goal” record still stand?
John Staff’s Centenary History states 12 seconds for the goal against Millwall, and 10 seconds for Julian Broddle’s in a 3-0 win against Southend in April 1987 (in front of a crowd of just 1602)
Pilling’s was more important though, being the only goal in the replay to get through to the third round Cup tie against Newcastle.
I was reading that last night – Millwall were baffled how many Iron players were forward at kick off? Good old Staffy RIP. Too young to be there myself.
Nothing wrong with his interview. A bit prickly in places. Certainly not arrogant and conceited IMO.

Yeah, we should welcome back all serial potential libelous posters just for your entertainment.
We could do with a defender like old Willie Miller.
People come and go of their own accord. Couldn’t care less if people that leave in a huff after causing problems, and proceed to slag off Bru with a number of untruths on other platforms return or not. You’re welcome.
Don’t expect me to fawn over them like returning prodigal sons.
‘George Miller scored again on Saturday’. I remember he did well at Bury before failing miserably with us
Another one who left in a huff because people have the temerity to disagree with him. And apparently Bru’s run by Marxists. Idiot.
It’s the ‘hopeful punts’ that kill you :(

‘got away’?! Lol, a player many wanted to see the back of almost as much as Beck, who incidentally went off injured on 44mins. Always said there was a decent player in Chadwick, but even I thought it made sense for him, and us, to go. 2 of his 3 were pens btw, but sounds like he had a great game.
‘give me a goalscorer every time no matter how they get them.’
How many has Whitehall scored recently v how many shithousery attempts? I’d wager the latter is winning the last 5 games by at least 4.
