Bunn up there as the link man with a Loft that can actually be bothered could give teams a lot of problems at this level.
You hit the nail on the head re Loft / Jarvis but it will take more than just a 45 minute solid performance to win me over ..Loft has to produce more regularly and look like he actually is interested in playing for SUFC or not ..playing to get away to pastures new perhaps ???
Hill certainly has managed to get more out of the same group re fitness levels positions certain players are now playing and ability … Hippolyte being the prime example.
Great win ,,i feared the worst after i saw us go i nowt down early but credit where credit is due the guys turned it round and well done .. out of the bottom 2 which in its self puts pressure on others around us ..more so makes the Carlisle fixture huge…and as previously said things will be a whole lot cleaer come mid January
For now enjoy the festive gift of a long awaited win ..lets hope it boosts confidence and we can push on from this result.1 user thanked author for this post.
Obvious hoping for a much needed first Iron win with Mr Hill at the helm .. but the hosts must be favs as it seems they have the ability to put the round thing in the net .. where as we dont .. they scored 5 last time out agai st the side currently toppa the league …when did Scunny last score 5 ???
Real.6 pointer .. tho another draw come 90 mins is my prediction
Btw ..are the high number of postps due to omicron or the weather or both ?nothing more clearer than the fact we need a striker or two … just hope Loft gets the chop .. hes just a piss taker along with 3 or 4 others whom Hill hopefully has wormed out .
Pleased to hear Rowe saying the group are happier under Hill as it aint rocket science how just one lightweight shit stirrer in the dressing room can upset the whole apple cart.Again goes back to Cox n Lillis inexperience and lax / weak management. If if if only Swan had got rid sooner.. hindsight is a wonderful thing .

Hill schmill.
My money is still firmly on non-league for the foreseeable future, many of us will never see a return to league football.
Merry Christmas Swann, you utter turd.Yes sadly pretty much my feelings … depending on the ins and outs next month im holding out a wiff of survival but if push came to shove and using my head not heart i had to put 500 quid on as a bet it would have to be on the Iron going out the league, ans as previously said looking at the NL its very difficult getting out of it again (at the right end.
All i want for Christmas is SUFC league survival … is that too much to ask Santa ??Hope everyone had/has a great Xmas day and a safe and prosperous New Year

Cox n Lillis never got a look in then ..
Rover recently filled the away end at Walsal .. and according to a mate saddlers fan best away fans hes seen for a long time.
Its a must win for us .. anything less and January transfers or not it makes the Oldham n Carlisle fixtures even bigger.
AGREE … WORST FRONT LINE EVER AT THE CLUB .

The Oldham n Carlisle games are massive ..IF IF we can win those its a whole new ball game loose one or both and the writing would be on the wall….WOULD’NT IT ???
I follow the Carlisle YT .. nice young man who was “over the moon” at their away win at Stevenage at the weekend and thinks now they will pull clear and finished comfortable mid table.. as he commented the NYD fixture against Scunny is a must NOT LOOSE game for them.
Only bright side is it appears the Codheads NL honeymoon is over as they are falling down the table quicker than my gran after a bottle of sherry.UP THE IRON …KEEP THE FAITH

Echo previous post .. IF ONLY Cox n Lillis had be relieved of their duties sooner and Hill in a few weeks / months sooner .. thats hindsight im afraid.
MASSIVE IMPROVEMENT under Kieth hill … but only ANOTHER DRAW .. thats 4 on the bounce in L2 if im not mistaken, whilst great not to loose its wins that are needed and looking at the current table its hard to see a way out of this mess with our current tame strike force and lack of any real threat in the final third…hoping Hill can remedy this in January.
I watched the game on internet as usual and some highlights (use the term loosely) here via YT
also Gareths excellent Ironarmy vlog .. maybe some of you guys are included and well done to the 300 plus who made the trip on a freezing wet n windy day.
Some huge games coming up notably Oldham , Carlisle ..real 6 pointers , in truth every fixture is massive now and come the New Year things will be all the more clearer.. hopefully on a positive side.
For the most part Covid restrictions lifted here from 16th Dec so my business can re open which is great but means more traveling so harder to follow the footy and the forum.
Early i know but wishing all members and Iron fans a safe and happy Christmas and New Year.
Not easy but .. KEEP THE FAITH .. UP THE IRON… CLARET N BLUE ALL WAY THROUGH..

I think we can all agree that things appear to be heading in the right direction since KH took the reins however, one thing we need to happen quickly is wins!
Whilst improved performances indicate that he’s slowly turning things around we must remember that we need to finish 22nd to avoid being relegated. When we look back at the last few seasons, we can see on average a team needs 47 points to avoid relegation, with both Bristol Rovers and Barnet being relegated with 50 & 51 points respectively. The big question is “How many points do we need this season for safety?”.
Looking at the League 2 table we can see the teams in the relegation battle zone (20th or lower) are all averaging 1 point per game or less. Based on the form from the start of the season we have Carlisle, Oldham and of course us all projected to get less than 40 points for the season. Whilst we could potentially survive the drop on 40 points, I feel that we should be targeting a minimum of 48 points as this would give us a greater chance of avoiding relegation. The issue then becomes how do we get 34 points from the remaining 27 matches? We need KH to start turning this team of dustbins into a cohesive unit quickly so we can start to scrape a few wins and get those points on the board. We were thankful for Orients wasted opportunities last week, and the Bradford match could have gone either way.
December is a very important month for us, and the next two matches could really make or break our season. We need to win the Stevenage match to pull them right into the mix. If we can follow that with an away win at a out of form Hartlepool United (they’ve lost 5 on the bounce) we’ll be able to take some confidence into the Bristol home match, and the very important away match at Oldham on Boxing Day. A few good results this month could see us pull out of the drop zone, and more importantly, drag more teams into the battle. Failing to beat Stevenage and Oldham won’t relegate us, but it will make our job of survival so much harder. I feel that come the end of December we’ll have a much clearer understanding just where we’ll finish come the end of the season!
Add to that Carlisle at home Jan 1st … after that fixture things will be a whole lot clearer more so if we are still in the mix to stay up .. may reflect on the Jan transfer window signings ins n outs.
Re your 48 pt target … yes im more optimistic now , i like Keith Hill but ….48 is a tall order and im thinking 40 to 45 max which may or may not be enough ..i doubt it will be.

Wilson is injured
Thats interesting news explains a lot …serious , long term or ????
many accurate comments added overnight all of which i agree with .. (i watched on tinernet then always check out Gareths ironarmy vlog Sunday mornings.)
Way better performance great first half.
more desire effort n fight
Fitness improving
100% we would of lost both Orient n Bradford under Cox
it was a joke for months with Cox and players took the piss .. now with Hill thats changed , experience and hes got the number of the likes of Loft.
weather a huge factor
my lingering though (in hindsight) if only Swan had got Hill in a month or two earlier ??
next run of games are winnable and im crossing everything even my ears we can pick up enough points to get out and away from the bottom zone ..
Carlisle won today which isnt great as apparently they played a lot better than they have been.
I watched a local match here and its not good terrible bent officials and players with egos like Loft but worse YES WORSE who spend more time rolling around slightly injured breaks up play n spoils it massively. ..really miss the buzz of attending UK/Scunny games and i urge all fans that can go to GP to go and get behind the lads.
a month ago i was doom n gloom .. we looked down but after recent games something is changing and there is hope.. Hill could save us and i like how he makes decisions re Hackney etc Cox would have dithered as too nice guy..Hill is experienced organized and ruthless as Mr Loft is hopefully gonna find out come the New Year.
Try to get Ohara another good call , be interesting to see what happens in January ..hopefully we will still be in touch and able to stay in the league.UP THE IRON

Does Hill do any such post match media interviews ? yet to see one other than on the SUFC website.
He was on Humberside before 10pm on Tuesday, sounded to me like he’s already trying to distance himself a bit from the job he’s inherited.
[/quote]
In what way distancing himself … what did he say to make you think that?
I hope Swan will splash some cash in January ..alas realistically i dont see it happening .. cant even be arsed to chuck in the funds to fix the scoreboard at GP… hopefully as previously posted we will still be in touch with others. its already looking like a 3 horse relegation battle as it stands now.

Watched the Kenny Jacket post match interview and he was spot on in all he said .. Orient were the way better side but their finishing was terrible on any other day the game should of been out of sight by the time Scunny equalized.
Makes a change from many other managers that use a post match media chat to rant about the officials or bad luck or terrible decisions etc etc .. must come with experience but he came across very well… drifting back to Cox .. in hindsight his pre and post match ramblings were at best total bollox.Does Hill do any such post match media interviews ? yet to see one other than on the SUFC website.
Loft is crap with a capital K … IF ONLY HIS TALENTS MATCHED HIS EGO , its obvious he doesnt want to be at the club so hope Hill can get rid.
Reading some of the posts and how some members are ” well connected ” surely some one could get a direct line to Hill and just say WILSON in his ear, its like the lad is being totally overlooked and not even given a chance when he could be on the pitch instead of Loft.
Dont suppose anyone at the club actually reads the local football related forums ??? they really should.
Bradford Saturday and i have this horrible feeling about certain players coming back to haunt us.
im still thinking over my one favourite player of all time ..it isnt easy. i nearly posted Steve Cammack but need more time, one this is for sure my choice wont be from any of the last 2 or 3 seasons squads
A points gap is starting to appear and IMO by January we may have missed the boat regardless who Hill signs .. Carlisle also looking bad whilst Oldham do still have enough to scrap a win or two. Hopefully any other clubs will fall away and go on a loosing streak ..thats our only chance to stay up with this current mob.. if i were a betting man sadly it would be in us dropping out the league this year.
i watched the “Highlights” and i use the term loosely .. also the excellent Ironarmy YT vlog as Gareth is always fair n balanced.
Fans were great .. team and performance shambolic defending and piss weak attack.
Wilson not getting a sniff ..not even keeping the bench warm.

I presume you mean Botham in the Scunny Bunny outfit ironfromafar?
indeed ..i added Beefy as a jest
Over the years the club have had many marvelous players wear the shirt … choosing only one who is your all time favourite Scunny player ???????
last night was the most entertaining match I have seen this season.
Yes great game ..as were the Altrinham Gateshead and Bristol Rovers Oxford ties ..
i like that Quigley fella Scunny need one of those
Madden looked good.
i fancied Bradford to do well this season .. just not happening
would love a Gillead , Sutton and Eisa in the current Scunny set up .. oh and a Van Veen, Billy Sharp Hooper n BothamJust listened to the podcast and Hill came across very well .. lets just say a tad better than Cox and his pre n post match ramblings .. Hill didnt talk too much about Scunny more so his past , being a straight shooter i would of liked to hear a more candid opinion of what he inherited ( a group of unfit sherkers n jerkers ) and what Swan promised but that was never gonna happen.
Slight chance with this fella at the helm but it is SLIGHT .
have to agree with the earlier post .. all be it tight points wise at the bottom the rot is set in too deep and with all things taken into consideration it would amaze me if Hill can keep us in the league ..sad fact but very real.
The Cods NL bubble has burst and with clubs like Stockport , Chesterfield , Wrexham and the lesser know but superb Bromley and Boreham Wood etc its hard to see them getting promoted …local derby next season !!
UP THE IRON.
spot on post WG .. something has changed .. hindsight is a wonderful thing what if Swan had ditched Cox / Lillis n got Hill in a month sooner??
Im guessing more will come out in the future as to just how piss poor Cox actions and management style were.Up the Iron

Much improved performance .. my fence sitting prediction came in .. 1-1 looked like a fair result and not a bad start for Hills first L2 fixture , even Kenyon whom i have been very critical of did ok , for a change lots of positive performances Watson again , Hackney and Omalley.
Looked to be acres of space out wide on the wings .. at some point i would like to see Thompson at LB Omally left wing Wilson right wing .. just how that can be done re the current personal remains to be seen .. nice to have a manager with experience and talks pre n post match very well unlike the total waffling twaddle Cox used to come out with .
As previously said .. its tight in the bottom area 5 points bottom to lower mid table , sadly Mansfield seem to have hit some good form at the wrong time.
Lets hope this new positive energy can be turned into points.

Be interesting to see Mr Hills team formation n personal chosen.
I am a tad more optimistic but gonna stay on the fence n go with a draw today.1 user thanked author for this post.
This got me thinking about the past Scunny fan chants .. all be it i now watch via livestream how quiet the fans are nowadays .. totally understandable with attendances dwindling and not a lot to cheer in recent times… any atmosphere creating noise is welcome even if it possibly contains a bit of soft racist banter .. ” wings of a sparrow arse of a cow ” ..alas in the UK today indeed many other countries society appears all to woke and having recently watched some old episodes of Little Britain , Love Thy Neighbour and Til death do us part it compounds my opinion how silly things have become.
sorry if on wrong thread btw ..dont wanna upset anyone 5555

I used to do the markets in Scunny ,York ,Donny Sheffield and Cleethorpes and had / still have a few very good traveler mates in and around Lincs n West Yorkshire area , for more reasons than i wish to state gimme a pikey over a dingy diver any day.

I would like to see Wilson game some L2 game time we need a bit of pace on the wing and get some decent crosses in the oppositions box.
After the “tinkering” in the cup fixtures it will be very interesting to see Hills first L2 starting 11 formation plus bench… hopefully hes seen enough and his experience and decisions can make a difference.
Cant say why but i do have a more optimistic mindset now the pretty inept Cox and Lillis have left the building.A few L2 club fans in my area i chat to a Carlisle fan who is worried now Scunny have a decent manager ..he was hoping Cox n Co would be in the job longer for obvious reasons , he also thought it was laughable that Chris Beech was in the running for the Iron job bearing in mind Carlisle had just sacked him… also got a Walsal fan here who is happier now they have improved recently and moved up the league not forgetting a Port Vale mate who is crowing a the moment giving me earache.
Hoping for a positive outcome Saturday ..UP THE IRON
Hes been about a bit this Eaves fella
The thought that COVID is the main cause re stay away fans is at best an excuse or a cop out not wanting to recognize the real reason which is no buggar likes to go watch their team loose week in week out whilst loosing with out a fight and effort.
I am not based in the UK so cannot comment on the Covid situation there but now i very much doubt more than a hand full are staying away due to it .. i may be wrong.
