Hi, I’m heading over for the Altrincham match on Saturday and I’m bringing 2 buddies (premier league supporters) to give them there first taste of non league football. I just wanted to check if anyone has a suggestions for where to go for some pre and post pints for the game or even where to avoid!
Spoons for starters for us on the train only place open at 10.40
The Station Hotel is decent, opens at 10am.
You are spoiled for choice in the town centre. Some spots are on the pricey side. Personally, I think the Station and Unicorn (Spoons) are to be avoided. It is though worth a short walk to the town, rather than going to the King George (next to the ground). Costello’s isn’t big but has a good selection of beers from a local microbrewery. A bit further afield, the Cheshire Tap, Kennedy’s and the Old Market Tavern are good options. As I say, there are plenty of options and if you aren’t fussy about your ale and want to watch the football, there are other options.
Great thanks there are plenty of options there. We are in early so will head to the town and then we plan to head somewhere for the Newcastle match at 5:30 so guess we will head back that direction and find a pub showing it.
Not pints but points n a prediction.
With Ewing Evans and Whall all out , Beestin 50/50 in poor form and toothless up top it may well be a tough watch at Alty today.
I recall being there in the FA cup many years ago behindthe goal when Joe Neenan kneed the player in the goolies to give them a penalty and 1-0 win them drawing Liverpool in the next round.. ages ago for sure but cant remember exactly what year it was ..can anyone help ???
Prediction 2-0 loss
2 weeks short of 45 years ago IFA. I was there as well. Their centre forward (King?) kicked and bullied us all game and the referee let him away with it. Joe didn’t and cost the club a decent payday.
