Just to get back to the footy, game of the competition so far Egypt v Argentina, unbelievable comeback and a wonder goal by Messi. Egypt should have kept pushing forward IMO and it’s understandable their frustration about no review on the McAllister challenge prior to that winning goal but hey maybe Trump wants Messi in the final.

No problem with the tactics of Paraguay it’s the standard of refereeing I am fearful of tonight after witnessing what Paraguay got away with. Glad France won and loved the way Mbappe laughed in the Paraguayans faces in response to their intimidation. If that was an acceptable FIFA refereeing performance than the game is in trouble and it is all about the money all along.

It was great to watch and the Argies late on in extra time were rolling about after a challenge like they had been poleaxed, nothing new there. Fight, guts, spirit , determination but most important they played as a team and were very well organised, also scored the best goal of the game, brilliant stuff.

Quite a few on the right try to make out something is different than it actually is, biggest joke was the use of the word “ woke” which was taken completely out of context to what the word actually means and has spread into our political language by simply disagreeing about everything a centre left government does by the right. Be interesting to see if he can replicate the Manchester revival under him on a national basis, time will tell but I admire anybody who wants to bring about radical change. It’s ok people saying Britain isn’t working under successive governments and we want change, well maybe a complete change of emphasis on how government works and is run is long overdue. The HS2 farce is a prime example of a major government project that has backfired, remember how Cameron and Osborne pushed it as opening up the North to business investment? A few chops and changes plus a massive overspend or perhaps a ridiculous underestimate in the first place and suddenly the North can f*** off. London to the Midlands all fine and dandy, the North , well it’s just tough guys, we will make a lot of noise about how overtime we will improve the existing lines but it’s BS and people know that. Hope Burnham gives government the thorough kicking it deserves IMO.

Never have thought the group form meant a lot it’s all about just winning, finishing top if possible to get the best first knock out phase game and England TBF have done that. Quite a few squad players given game time, whether you think that’s tinkering or not is purely opinion I personally think it’s important to get game time into as many players legs as possible based on the opponents your facing. The further you go the better the opponents and they tend to come at you more whereas only Croatia out of Englands group did that. A few concerns about the right back injuries but hey your in a knockout competition now and someone will come in and do a job there after all they are all supposedly top class players hence they wear the England shirt.
