The one saving grace of VAR is that it leaves the evidence.
In an ideal world it would be the thing that cuts out players cheating and biased or incompetent officials.

I have probably made the odd post about Positivity Dave, Stuart Maw, Uniity Iron and the Facebook group. Doesn’t mean I either know or much care about any of them.

I’m going out on a limb here but I think apart from 4 or 5 posters nobody else on here gives a monkeys what the fraudster is up to at Matlock or anywhere else.

Forgot to add I think we could do with a forward coach. We seem reasonable at the without the ball shape(s) but not so hot at creating and taking of chances. Given 50% of creating and taking of chances has been down to Roberts for the last 2 seasons we have a real problem to solve.
Looking at the team performances this season there are some areas we are below par for a playoff contending side.
1. We hardly ever score from corners and wide free kicks. Most football crowds get a little excited when their team gets a corner or wide free kick. Our crowd doesn’t.
2. Beestin apart our midfield does not score goals. And Beestin doesn’t get picked. Neither do any of them go past the forwards or flood the box when attacking. Probably why they don’t score. Tactics, coaching or capability?
3. No goals from the left sided forward position. Smith, Chadwick, Jones, Carlton, Beestin when he plays there. Barely a goal between them. TSF did get a few but hardly prolific. Given we are losing our 20 goals from the right side this becomes even more of a problem. If Howe is going to be a regular starter and scorer he is going to have to make a success of playing as a wide forward.Part time gig for Torps perhaps?

Agree. We need 5 or 6 players we would be happy to see start 40 games next season.
1. Goalkeeper that inspires confidence to defenders.
2. 2 x centre backs preferably with pace, able to tackle,pass a bit and capable of posing a threat in opposition boxes.
3. 2 x midfielders see above for attributes as well as 6 or 8 goals a season.
4. A centre forward who plays like Whitehall on a good day and focuses on retaining the ball rather than vain efforts to win free kicks and tedious shithousery.Not much to ask?

Agree with most of your post IA64 but we can’t be crediting Butler with recruitment of Roberts. He is the first manager to get and keep him fit for 2 full seasons so he deserves credit for that.
You also missed referring to what I think what is his best bit of business. Our second best player is Joe Rowley and whilst his signing was decent the masterstroke was seeing him as a holding midfielder this season.A big test awaits this summer. Finding replacements for Roberts, Ewing and Boyce (possibly Westbrooke too) from the bargain basement is not going to be easy. A proper goalie wouldn’t go amiss either.

The ticket fiasco was an own goal by the club and it’s ticketing partner.
The failure to recognise the error and issue an apology is an even more serious own goal by the board.
I guess they are hoping that if we lose tomorrow folks will be glad they didn’t get a ticket and if they win the Wembley excitement will cause people to forget.

From what I read on Rochdale website this morning their season ticket holders had 2 days when they could by their season ticket seat/space only.

I’m pretty sure if we had needed to beat Eastleigh then we probably would have done.
There would not have been any “sympathy” appearances from players we have barely seen and probably won’t ever see again for a start. Your playing of your “reserves” against Hartlepool not only cost you any chance of a home game but also allowed us to rest key players.
I watched your game at the Monkey Hangers and it would seem like ourselves you have a decent 13 or 14 players but you’re scraping the barrel after that. York and Rochdale have the budgets for 20 or so decent players which is how you get 100 plus points I guess.
Been hoping for weeks that we arrive at the playoffs with most of our 14 fit and well and that seems to have happened. All the playoff games could go either way so bring it on.
Would be nice if one of the SUFC’s made it back to the EFL this season given the near terminal damage our respective toxic owners have subjected us to.

The vast majority of issues fans had with Butler last season was his stubborn insistence on playing 5 at the back with players totally unsuited to the formation.
Nothing to do with liking the man or otherwise.
As soon as he quietly changed formation the noise went away – as it tends to do when your winning.
Of course Butler never admitted he had changed system or accepted he had stuck to a flawed system for too long.
As I think it was Awaywego said, arrogance in a manager is acceptable but stupidity is not.
Clark had arrogance in spades which as a footballer he was entitled to. As a manager not so much. He was disliked because he slagged off his inherited squad as soon as he arrived and said they weren’t good enough to get promoted. Except that’s what the team then went and did. The promotion happened in spite of Clark not because of him.2 users thanked author for this post.
Apparently he is fine. Could have continued on Saturday but Butler decided it was not necessary.
I have also given up on his dull and often techy Humberside interviews but his post Wealdstone one ran on from listening to a Whitehall one while I was captive in the car.
The player Humberside interviews are often more interesting.Before Deery has me in the Butler out brigade he has done a fine job this season whatever happens next. He is overly sensitive to what he perceives as criticism and does some very daft things – as any inexperienced manager would. Calling said daft things out is not calling for his head. Not sure I have heard any serious calling for his head since Whitehall and a dodgy referee saved his job at Marine last season.
