Michelle said on Humberside after the match when asked about next season that AB has a budget to see us around mid table next term. I can live with that, anybody who thinks we are suddenly going to throw mega money around and storm away at the top of the National League maybe have got a little too passionate and promotion drunk after yesterday, let’s keep it real people.
Eze scored another cracker after a trade mark Palace move catching City on the break. After that in truth it was backs against the wall for Palace as they got battered but defended resolutely and deserved their win because City didn’t create that much. Henderson pulled off some good saves aswell as the penalty stop but in truth he should have been sent off but the officials ( again ) made a balls up of a basic refereeing decision, chuffed for Palace though.
Refreshed or rusty through lack of match practice. Can’t deny the latter is a thing, but they simply have to be up and at it from the off.
…and as I said to Rene in an earlier post all this stuff applies to Chester too, best not to overthink things just for the sake of it IMO.
They will have been doing all that shite Rene stop worrying about jack sh** FFS and chill out .

The 2 week layoff is a worry for me.
Must be a worry for Chester fans too I’m guessing?
We have won games without Roberts and this is no different, yes he’s a massive miss but if we lose we can’t use his absence as an excuse, we will have either played badly on the day or didn’t turn up, we’ve done both before with Roberts playing.
Was that picture taken just after he’d driven his car through the wall on Grange Lane South ?
Must admit THAT game was my favourite,Cassidy’s header was legendary!
As was George Kerr’s superb delivery from the corner.

Judgement Day approaches.
Let’s hope Chester aren’t made of liquid metal, we may need Arnie if they are.

We won 2-1 away at Sheffield Wednesday in the FA Cup in front of 33,000 didn’t bottle it that day in front of a big crowd. 50,000 at Wembley to see us beat Millwall 3-2, it’s all irrelevant it’s always ” on the day ” big crowd or not.
Was that the 5-2 win ?? If yes I was there but should have been somewhere else !! I thought from memory Nigel returned a goal kick from the Posh Keeper from quite a distance into the DRE end net. That’s all I can come up with, sorry. UTWI
Correct scoreline Barrie but after Cass scored that cracking header he blew a kiss to the celebrating DRE, made us young lads at the back of the goal chuckle, was a great win and a fantastic performance by the Iron that night.
Gonna test barrie and Sanfran49’s Cass knowledge here, the Iron beat Peterborough back in October 1970 in a home Friday night fixture at the OSG, Cass scored a bullet header into the DRE late second half, what happened next guys?
You couldn’t make it up the club said they’d release tickets not taken up by season ticket holders at 4pm, then 15 mins ago they now say they’ll be re release them over the course of the evening ffs.
You’ve got yours, why are you following this? An opportunity to S the S? Things change, so what.
Cmon guys if Awaywego didn’t see his a*** at least once a day over the club it wouldn’t be a normal day now would it?
Aye Joe was shite in that penalty shootout against MK Dons in the semi final, absolute disgrace.
Apparently the new American Pope isn’t a Maga fan either, where’s it all going wrong Donald?
As far as goalies are concerned, Ray Clemence, for the short time he played for us, takes some beating.
I remember one opposing forward describing him as “Uncanny.” With the defence we had at the time he needed to be.Can anyone remember the chant?
“Ay ay ay ay,
Clemence is better than Yashin.
Barton is better than Eusebio.
And ******** are in for a thrashing.”Sung to the tune of Cielito Lindo.
(Not sure about Barton though.)
Reckon David Sloan might have given Eusebio a run for his money IA , lol
Didn’t we sell out against Rotherham back in the late eighties early nineties for some play off or top of the league crunch game? Sorry to be so vague but something rings a bell in my distant memory.
There’s a bigger picture comes into play when criticising players publicly particularly back to back games. There is only so many times the old ” once they have crossed the line onto the field there is nothing I can do about it ” can be trotted out because eventually the board says ” well they are your players and you train and motivate them “. Makes their job easier for booting the manager out plus the more you criticise players publicly the less respect they have for you, it was time for him to go IMO.
Terry Heath for me, best midfielder I ever saw play for the Iron, a First Division player in a Fourth Division team, I believe Keegan would have learnt a lot playing in the same team as Terry.

Reading through this thread again and – again – I’m led to one ultimate question. Exactly what does Hilton want with a football club? I don’t buy this local hero / doing it for legacy bullshit.
I am sure Awaywego will come on and explain, he has every faith in WHAM I believe.
Well I did float the idea the day Chester beat them but to publicly slate his own players afterwards which came hot on the heels of his similar take after the Southport defeat, well I think he has only himself to blame. No-one is bigger than a football club and certainly not Phil Brown, he deserved the sack IMO.
HIGNFY and The Last Leg when it’s on are a pretty good watch, then you have the natural world and nature programmes which are visually stunning with some decent narration but apart from that you can just about forget the rest. Reality and cooking shows plus the usual mundane soap fest are the norm these days and I have to agree they are junk. Enjoyed Grace when it was on recently, good storylines with some action thrown in but we need less junk IMO but hey I’m nearly 70 and maybe junk is what the younger viewers thrive on.
In all this we know for a fact there is one proven liar
Aye and doesn’t Awaywego love him, mind you it suits his agenda so it’s no surprise.
Has he got an agenda or does he just like being objectionable, and does he enjoy going fishing?
You got it that’s the agenda.

Richgy your home form is a real mystery,so poor by comparison to your away form, sort that out next season and you could well be champions, however much that hurts me to say it, lol
” a lot of Iron posters could well have egg on their faces looking very silly ” , well that’s a first then, lol.
The irony is in the word stumbled with inverted speech marks, I’m guessing DM was expressing that however we go up AB will be damned by some, in another words the guy will never win in some people’s eyes.
I think the majority realise AB is a young manager in his first serious managerial role and has learned as the season has gone along. The point about getting us further than last season with a weaker squad is totally valid and I reckon AB has done alright after a bit of a rookie wobble during the campaign. Look how many wobbles Kiddy had under a very experienced manager.

My Chester mate is already celebrating!
Why does he like seeing them get beat?, lol.
Well he may get sacked cass if the Kiddy owners think he’s talking crap, hey ho we will see what happens.
