“Harriers confirm the departure of Phil Brown and Neil McDonald from the Club with immediate effect”
It was his fault then.

May 7, 2025 at 12:12 pm #304147Everyone thought so but him apparently.
May 7, 2025 at 1:13 pm #304149Well I did float the idea the day Chester beat them but to publicly slate his own players afterwards which came hot on the heels of his similar take after the Southport defeat, well I think he has only himself to blame. No-one is bigger than a football club and certainly not Phil Brown, he deserved the sack IMO.
May 7, 2025 at 1:26 pm #304150Going to be a lot of clubs from the Premier to NLN / NLS looking starting with new managers.
Watford have just sacked Cleverley – their 20th in 12 yrs, now that really is a revolving door.

In the report I read, I didn’t think there was actually anything wrong in what Brown said. Nor was he unreasonable in his appraisal of where the team messed up, and he wasn’t personal about any individual player or vindictive to any individual player.
May 7, 2025 at 1:31 pm #304153Lets hope we’re not one of those clubs, as much has I dislike Butler I do understand if we do gain promotion Butler will stay, unless some EFL club sees potential in him lol.

I agree with this, his comments after the Southport game especially were spot on and even led me to begin to vaguely think about liking him for a millisecond. I think it’s a bad move from Kidderminster personally.

I seem to think some on here have called for it from Butler this season, having been completely unable to understand the man management skills of deflection and not singling people out, to demonstrate loyalty and protect morale.

I think if it’s as a collective it’s not potentially as bad, I mean the players can’t have had any complaints after their Southport performance.
May 7, 2025 at 10:08 pm #304186There’s a bigger picture comes into play when criticising players publicly particularly back to back games. There is only so many times the old ” once they have crossed the line onto the field there is nothing I can do about it ” can be trotted out because eventually the board says ” well they are your players and you train and motivate them “. Makes their job easier for booting the manager out plus the more you criticise players publicly the less respect they have for you, it was time for him to go IMO.
May 8, 2025 at 9:00 am #304195Beat Southport and win the league. If he can’t get his players motivated to give their all under those circumstances then it’s fair to question his management skills. They shouldn’t need any help with motivation for a game like that so their attitude and approach is certainly worthy of criticism. (In the dressing room)
Hope Butler doesn’t suffer the same fate. -
