We shouldn’t mock the afflicted, but it is funny.
Didn’t even manage the play offs.1 user thanked author for this post.
May 3, 2025 at 7:22 pm #303954Won more than Chesterfield but lost 18 games. That’s more than the teams in 16/17 place.
That’s what cost them.
Shame!
May 3, 2025 at 7:36 pm #303956How long will it take us until we are contesting / pushing for a play off place in L2?
Better we concentrate on ourselves?

Shame!Funny, I thought it was drawing too many games that costs! Well, at least that’s what I’ve read on here.
May 3, 2025 at 8:06 pm #303962TBF Cass drawing too many games cost us the title and automatic promotion, losing a lot of games has cost the Cods the final playoff place, that’s the difference.

May 3, 2025 at 8:53 pm #303966Tbh the cods came up short. We’ve well and truly swapped place.
It’s good to have some banter with the guys down the end of the lane with no malice. It’s Football
May 3, 2025 at 8:54 pm #303967Your correct Cass, those wins just nearly got them in the playoffs, where has Colchester attained points in 7 more games but finished a point behind the cods,
19 draws they had against the cods 8, so yes it is the draws that kill you taking it in the round.
-6 goal difference as wellMay 4, 2025 at 10:13 am #303991Yes, I didn’t see that. Getting promoted, or even making the play offs, with a minus GD would be a surprise.

May 6, 2025 at 6:27 am #3040876 points from the last 6 games cost us including 3 games were we threw away leads in the last 5 minutes 1 in the 95th minute .Not a bad season though and crucially 16 under contract next time who are all relatively decent . Another close to 2 million loss on top which was at the lower end of league 2 losses which shows how silly even division 4 is now .
Good luck in the play-offs I think you have done your time down there now .
May 6, 2025 at 8:45 am #304091Artell has had a good season with you lot, I was surprised to see reports of him being abused by some of your fans ?
Grimsby will always be restricted by Blundell Park, I read you spent 300k last year on one stand just to keep it usable ? Until you finally get that new ground you will struggle to break ground in a
Now ridiculously competitive league one.Still, I’d swap positions with lot in heartbeat. Find it harder to laugh at your misfortune on the field too when we still have the prospect of facing Worksop next year.
May 6, 2025 at 9:22 am #304095Richgy your home form is a real mystery,so poor by comparison to your away form, sort that out next season and you could well be champions, however much that hurts me to say it, lol
May 6, 2025 at 10:51 am #304107‘Artell has had a good season with you lot, I was surprised to see reports of him being abused by some of your fans ?’
Similarly to why some of us were surprised to hear of Butler being abused. Though others seem to find it unsurprising and defended it. Incredible.

May 6, 2025 at 10:55 am #304109You can disagree with someone’s decisions without being disrespectful or abusive.
For some people (including 1 or 2 on here) being disrespectful and even abusive is a default response.

May 6, 2025 at 11:23 am #304111Targeting cost us the title pure and simple.
And improve our manager must never repeat it – it is negative !
May 6, 2025 at 11:47 am #304112Yeah it’s a minority that don’t like him but most think he’s done a good job really – i think quite a few didn’t get over when we shipped about 20 goals in 4 games last season losing 4,5,4 and 6 in pretty quick time ; many wouldn’t have survived that but the board kept a coold head fortunately .
Completely agree about Blundell Park , it’s not fit for purpose but no one has 40 million quid to build a new one so it’s 300k a seasonish just to keep it going and keep the SAG group happy which seems increasingly difficult .
I think we will make league 1 in the next 2 or 3 years but it will be very hard to stay there without massive losses which most clubs show year on year .

May 6, 2025 at 12:57 pm #304115Artell seems a decent enough bloke to me and I quite like hearing him on the radio, but he really does have the air of only being a reasonable makeshift until Mr Success is appointed and properly kickstarts things. Don’t know whether any Grimsby fans reading this would agree?
