May 30, 2021 at 10:50 am in reply to: Thinking About Money For Transfers – An Attempt To Be A Little Optimistic. #207815
Think the Karacan train has left the Iron station Cass, he’s far too good for league two and even if we offered him the roles you suggest would Swann really want to spend a lot of money on him, remember his aim is cutting everything now, particularly since he has the ground and wants no more interest payments on any future debt the club may rack up. It’s cheap but not very cheerful now I’m afraid, bit like the last three seasons only worse.
Years ago mate
I guess you don’t blame her?
some more of ‘Swanns’ signings promoted to the Premier league?
Only signed Toney on loan, when it came to getting him on a permanent Mr Big Money Bollocks ran away and hid. Just a fake. Chuffed for Toney, good player hope he does well, Daniels won’t be their number one in the Prem, don’t think he was in the Championship.

He doesn’t need anything putting into his body. He just needs the hatred sucking out!
Any volunteers?
Guess Mrs alcy stopped volunteering then?
First time I’ve not bought one in 16 years, not convinced by the Prawn or by this Government’s time frame for letting all fans back in to watch matches. One game at a time for me, it’s my first season at the cheaper 65 rate so I’m not too fussed about paying for games when it suits me, it’s still cheaper then the £360 I’ve been paying for years. Honestly think we will get poor support next season, it’s a culmination of everything from pandemic to poorly run football club by a man who only cares about his own opinion and his business intrests. Our club is slowly fading away.

Maybe enough to cover his wages over the last two seasons but not much more I’m guessing.
Yosemite Sam would be preferable, he’s a cartoon character who would do well in our comedy set up.

Unless we did but he wanted to get on “the last helicopter out of Saigon”!
NNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN 19
None of ours will get a hero’s welcome either when they trot out in August.Apparently the Prawn is gonna put it all on a racehorse at 150-1, it’s part of his new financial package to get us into the Championship within the next 25 years. If he said it on Humberside somebody would believe him.

Exciting week ahead for Joey Dawson and hopefully an exciting future in the game for him, I really hope the news report on Iron-bru is right and he does sign for Celtic this week. He will fit in nicely there with his ginger hair and after all, why settle for mince when you can have steak. Good luck Joey lad hope it works out for ya.
Never realised posting from a shed made you immune from irony, must be a balance thing.
If we don’t have the new signings in place it will no doubt be the fault of Covid. Probably the Indian variant the he wasn’t expecting at the time of the last interview.
Maybe we will sign a glut of Asian players in July and the Prawn will announce they all agreed to join in May but we held off till we were certain they were all clear of the Indian Covid variant. Now that’s a PR goer, better double check with Buck’s though.

Bloody hell, Alcy! You walked right into that one.
He sure did but don’t worry if will be the Labour parties fault he posted that, just you wait and see.
Didn’t know April 1st had moved to today Cass? 😂😂😂

Ha ha, good old Burney with his selective memory, makes me think of the film ” A Few Good Men ” and that wonderfully delivered line by Jack Nicholson, ” You can’t handle the truth “. 😂
It always makes me laugh when some say “why did we let him go?” when most of these players have been subjected to dogs abuse at games and on social media by a certain section of fans.
If you ridicule young players either at games or on social media don’t expect their confidence to be sky high to perform how you wish.
Have to say I agree with uti99 on this one, two of the posters on this topic who have expressed a preference for Wootton again due to his non league form are the ones who described him when he played for us as ” utter dog mess ” and ” not even non league standard “. I realise people are allowed a change of mind but the hypocrisy on Wooton is laughable, if the Iron approach Wooton about a return he should tell them to shove it. If Notts Couty get back in the league next season he will have been justified plus they are a much bigger club then us anyway both factually and historically, why lower yourself.

Can’t comment about Sutton but Hartlepool had a very welcoming club house built on the ground which welcomed away supporters and was always a friendly place to go.
Now time to get a little excited about The Iron, though. Our team for the coming season should be pretty much in place by this time next week -well, shouldn’t it?
Oh ye of too much faith.
Oh ye of little irony recognition. 🙄

The point about Haysey being a money grabber and not loyal blah blah blah issue is a bag of bollocks. The game doesn’t work that way only in the case of players who have found their level and are happy with there wage. The 99.9% of the rest go as high as they can with the most money they can get and whether the club they sign for have money issues or unpaid tax bills or whatever is not the players concern. They respond to the contract and the terms on offer and if they like them then they are perfectly entitled to sign that contract and expect payment for their playing services. All this badge kissing loyalty bollocks is exactly what it is in the real world, just bollocks.
Aye we all start off as young lads in our working lives with dewy eyed ambition and realise after a while that money talks. Easy to do plenty of badge kissing and fist pumping towards fans when playing for Man U, Liverpool and the like when you are on mega money, not so easy when Preston offer maybe two grand a week more and the mortgage money is a bit hard to meet every month playing for Scunny and you fancy a new car too. Paul Hayes was one of my all time favourite players and I go back as far as Barrie Thomas, David Sloan etc, loved watching Haysey play for us, he deserved his moves and more money in a short career, don’t begrudge the lad a penny he was a great player for us, good luck to him and any player who improves their lot after leaving us.

UEFA aren’t going to change back now Awaywego to the old European Cup model because the game is now just money driven but I agree with you about the old format. The best team from each country meeting in a simple knock out competition was brilliant for fans and made for some real exciting European nights at our biggest club grounds, although Liverpool v Barcelona and City v Spurs in recent seasons were pretty exciting games TBF, gone forever I’m afraid but I guess the top brass will say that’s how the game develops. Maybe some of us are just stuck in a rose tinted glasses time warp when it comes to big team football from years ago.

As much as I disliked Hayes ( money grabbing b******) it was a great goal.
He always speaks very highly of you.
Nice memory Ferrite, great being behind the goal that day, what a goal.

Indeed happy birthday Barrie also not forgetting Ron Ashman who would have been 95 today if he was still with us. Although criticised at times whilst managing the Iron, I wonder how many older fans would appreciate Ron’s steady hand on the tiller right now as manger, albeit he was working with a more reasonable and tolerant board behind him. One thing about Ron he was allowed to manage without too much board interference, or that’s how it appeared back then.

Yes to all the above plus and I have said this ad nauseam for a while, an experienced spine to assist all the young inexperienced guys we have left in the squad. Keeping them fit would be the challenge but if we sign these players and keep them fit we have half a chance next season.

GK –
CF – Loft, Dunnwald-Turan, Jarvis, Jessop
TBC – Hallam, McAtee, Pugh, Dawson, Gallimore, Wilson
Look forward to Cox putting his own stamp on the squad. UTI!
Never mind Cox’s stamp, looking at that forward line I’d rather have Darryn Stamp (Even now!)
Only if he brings his goal machine with him.
Not got mine yet, may go game to game and see how it goes, haven’t felt this way about the Iron before TBH, the Prawn has a lot to answer for.

Who said I was bored dick head.
Come on don’t bite, it was a cracking second half and what a brilliant goal to win the cup. Well done Leicester and we’ll done Schmeicel, got to be one of the best saves ever in an FA Cup Final. 👍
