Currently running up a backlog of home fixtures due to the Rugby taking precedence at the LNER.

    Supporters understandably pissed off.

One of the first signs is denying freedom of speech. The next is to impose non- truth as truth. I could go on ,but the signs are worrying don’t you think?

Sounds like organised religion to me.

Blasphemy Laws, fairy tales about creation and miracles.

Yes, I find blind faith* worrying.

*Not to be confused with the 60’s band of the same name who were rather good.

There is absolutely no comparison between the waterworks end at Brunton Park and any part of GP!

I’ve been told I don’t have an accent until at least three pints of 4.2% abv beer, and then I converse in true North Lincs.

I find the whole accents thing fascinating, even now in the 21st century when movement of the population is commonplace.

Middlesbrough is in the ceremonial county of Yorkshire but a smoggie from the Boro sounds nowt like t’old lad fromt Leyds.

And as for the Darlo accent: it’s got to be one of the worst in England.

The player in question missed his penalty so it certainly didn’t affect the shootout.

£26 million for the best goalkeeper in the world. £55 million for the sixth best striker in the Premier League.

It would seem that keepers are massively undervalued!

Sad day indeed. I was lucky enough to see him play.

Vaguely remember that Blackpool cup tie when he scored a hat-trick but certainly the five goals in the 8-1 demolition of Luton.

One player Newcastle fans also fondly remember. More than could be said for a certain Scandinavian mercenary this week.

    True legend, RIP Barrie.

With you on that one IFA.

Submitted my views saying exactly that.

I think the Borough coat of arms was used only sporadically (often shirts had no club badge on them) but the coat of arms of Glanford was used during the BriKenDen era.

Boundaries change and boroughs get disbanded but a football club is for ever!

    Colder than Armenia?

“Armenia has a highland continental climate, characterized by hot, dry summers and cold, snowy winters, though temperatures and precipitation vary significantly with elevation and region. The climate can range from cold desert and steppe in lower areas to humid continental and even tundra at high altitudes, with the mountainous regions experiencing colder conditions and more snow.”

1-1 draw the shortest odds which seems about right.

Also means either side could nick it 2-1. Love it if that was us but I’ll go for the draw.

Strange irony the big money summer signings being the ones to miss the crucial penalties.

    Have to agree.

Even the NHS. Went for a blood test last week, was in with the practice nurse for two minutes. Next day text message saying please access your NHS App and complete the survey. Out of 5 how did you rate your appointment? 5. Why did you give us that score?

    Err!

One game a month between August and Christmas shouldn’t be exactly onerous.

I’m more concerned about the pitch than the players!

By Blues mate doesn’t think they’ll be challenging at the top this year.

Howe and Chadwick are both capable of running on to his flicks. Provided they go where they should (the flick-ons that is). Likewise the chest downs can’t be played back to a midfielder if they rebound off his chest and go to an opposition player.

He’s a trier right enough but not quite John Toshack or Niall Quinn.

The only time you used to see the St George’s flag was on St George’s Day!

Those of a certain age who remember 1966 will recall that World Cup Willie sported the Union Flag.

Been on a bit of a UK road trip over the last few days and have seen quite a few attached to Motorway bridges.

Middle of last week they were looking pristine. Today most were hanging limp and tattered.

Not sure whether it is worrying or comical.

Certainly won’t go down well on here NI, Ironawe, Deerey and many others thought it was alright to boo a certain substitute onto the pitch, they all defended the right to, ya pays your ticket money and all that.

What the hell are you on about?

Seeing as how a football team is compromised of eleven players should we not blame the forwards for not keeping the ball at the other end of the pitch?

If it is our Torps, they’ve got his age and place of birth spectacularly wrong! And he’s had some amazing plastic surgery.

Always worries me when a team has been hammered the game before we play them.

    Often get the backlash.

Don’t know how practical this is to implement and we don’t want to make extra work for Matt, but in the PL prediction league at our pub we have a “default” score (mine is 2-1) that comes into play if you miss the deadline.

That way you could still pick up points though you’d be extremely unlikely to hit the jackpot.

    Cheers Sanfran.

Just a question of getting into the swing of things for the new season. Do a PL Saturday prediction league in our local so tuned into the weekend fixtures.

No Iron game last night so out of sight out of mind, but should have realised. I blame old age.
