November 9, 2025 at 11:42 am #312889Tempting run of fixtures with no midweek action either – got to be optimistic and they must be targeting being bang there cone the new year.
Two things that just worry me a bit – its a competitive league – it hasn’t been easy to tell the top 6 or 7 sides from the bottom 6 or 7 – Aldershot and Yeovil haven’t really looked any better or worse than the likes of Southend or York to me – although I know they are one off games.
More worryingly for me though is the quietly growing list of injuries – with Beck and Brogan out on loan the bench picked itself yesterday.
I count 6 out injured, with Evans, Roberts and Ewing being the biggest misses, which is a lot when it amounts to a quarter of your squad, 5 of whom are loanees as well, making us a bit vulnerable over the next few weeks to injuries/suspensions/recalls

November 9, 2025 at 3:24 pm #312890Hope the club don’t get suckered into playing Rochdale till it suits us, not the 18th of November when Rory is on international duty, and wait till we find out whether we’re home or away in the trophy before committing to the 9th or 16th of December, certainly don’t need 4 away games on the trot.
November 9, 2025 at 3:32 pm #312891One possible bit of midweek action could be the rearranged game at Rochdale. A six-pointer if there ever was one.
50 points on New Year’s Eve is do-able.
November 9, 2025 at 3:55 pm #312894Our recent home games have proved we have made hard work to win games, so not expecting anything different from those games, Rene, and Rory has dropped out of the Scotland u21 squad Awaywego with Leeds saying he would be better playing in men’s football in a competitive league than an under 21 friendly

November 11, 2025 at 9:07 pm #312923Mahady playing for Leeds at Accrington tonight.
Busy lad.
November 11, 2025 at 9:18 pm #312924He played on the Sunday after we played Blackpool
November 11, 2025 at 9:23 pm #312925Not particularly ideal if he picks up an injury or suspension.
November 11, 2025 at 11:51 pm #312932Getting tight at the top!
November 12, 2025 at 12:24 am #3129333points separate Top Six, and 7 Points to 7th. Southend and those below face being out of the race by NYE, with only the one play off spot to fight over!
And now it is a test of our nerve. Don’t blink just find away to win every game till NYE. We may not be top, but we will sure as hell be breathing down the neck of whoever is! B’Wood, York & Carlisle were considerably better than the riff raff down the lower end, we upped our game accordingly.
Should be seizing the opportunity over the next couple of months.
November 14, 2025 at 9:52 am #312994Everytime I look at the table I am truly shocked to see how impressive our start has been. Just one defeat, and we could argue that a few of those draws should have been wins for us!
That said, I’ve supported Scunthorpe United for too many years to get carried away. I am taking it one match at a time, counting up to 50 points. Then after that I will start to allow myself to dream of the play-offs and potential promotion!
November 14, 2025 at 4:43 pm #313001I’m a tad concerned that the goals have not been as free-flowing as they were earlier.
Okay one goal is fine if you don’t concede but it’s a dangerous game to play. Both York and Forest Green ran in four midweek so we need to get Dan & Dec back up to speed asap!

December 1, 2025 at 8:52 am #313941Injuries and lack of squad depth affects all teams, even the Crystal Palace manager was saying as much after his side surprisingly lost to the Mancs yesterday. I believe our recent poor run would have looked completely different if all our better players had been available.

December 1, 2025 at 3:36 pm #313943Why is our so called great squad of players so poor.
December 1, 2025 at 5:37 pm #313944Which four players out of Saturday’s squad would you start with tomorrow, not totally sure but I think it’s only outfield players that count.
If goalies do count Mahadey up front with Jones in goal.1 user thanked author for this post.
December 1, 2025 at 7:27 pm #313947Mahady had a good few attempts on goal against Altrincham, so why not him as a forward, good call AWAYWEGO.
Anyone know about Jones as a goalkeeper, did he play in pre season ?
Need a strong keeper against Tamworth !
Ross Barrows back ?December 2, 2025 at 6:49 am #313953If Barrows is fit but not match fit – 80 (?) minutes tonight would be good – same for Rosie.

If goalies do count Mahadey up front with Jones in goal.Doesn’t it have to be 4 players that started?
Presumably 6 of Saturdays subs will start with Barrows. Then maybe Boycie who’s just had a rest, Carlton, Horton (sub Shipstone 1 minute) and Denton (sub 7th sub from Saturday 1 minute) Can Brogan & Beck take part? -
