Having spoken to a fair number of Muslim people in the neighbourhood, and even more at a recent Islamic culture event I took part in, I can assure you Gaza was the predominant factor. This is fact. I couldn’t care less what anti-Muslims are saying tbh, it’s pointless. People have protest voted for decades. That’s all it is and nothing wrong with it if that’s how people feel. Of course it’s not the only reason why a portion of Muslims voted that way, but I can only tell you what I heard and saw on the ground, beyond the work of social media, press and media.

Should also point out that this charge of ‘sectarian voting’ has come from both Labour and Reform. I wouldn’t expect anything less from Reform but it’s very poor from Labour, trying to demonise legitimate election campaigning tactics. They’re both just making lame excuses.

I feel for decent people in local authorities that may become run by Reform after May. They’re absolute lunatics. Those that vote for them get what they deserve but it’s harsh on those that are against them and have to put up with their mismanagement and racism unless they move out the area.

I was in favour of Burnham standing but now I’m not so sure he’d have won it anyway. The level of Green campaigning and visible support was off the scale. Never seen anything like it. I suspect the amount of voting in the Gorton side from the more liberal, left leaning young voters and disenfranchised older Labour voters, including a portion of the Muslim vote unhappy about the government’s stance on Gaza outweighed the fairweather fascists over in Denton. Thankfully the anti fascist vote wasn’t split allowing Reform in. Local elections I suspect Labour losing Wards to both Reform and Green.

He is doing a great job. Rough patch but with players upping their game, a few decent recruits and returning injured players, he has a fighting chance of turning it round in the run in.

I don’t know what I’m more incredulous about – watching York’s third goal on Tuesday night or reading Ian Sharp’s reaction to it:

‘As painful as it is to watch us concede I can’t deny that’s not a spectacular goal with an incredible fans reaction. The national league is criminally underrated for the level of clubs and fans who watch and support week in week out. Needs more attention from the higher ups.’

Stuart Pilling lobbed the ball high over the top of the stretching fingers of King in the Millwall goal as he toppled backwards in despair. Twelve seconds 1-0 and the game effectively won’.

Totally agree. Mid to late 70s matches were poor, results and general crowd wise but there were some skillful players like Pilling, Cammack, O’Berg and Grimes, who had a bit of flair and gave it their all.
