When did it become OK to be openly racist?
I though after the 70s 80s we’d got past that ?
The Gorton reaction has laid bare any pretence the right had of not being racist ,particularly Islamophobic.
I’d ever noticed Islamophobia in Britain until Blair suggested that “the community” need to do more when it came to home terrorism .I then noticed more work colleagues expressing anti Muslim sentiments which I’d not seen or heard before. I was incensed then as I am now.
On this site there were some openly awful comments too, sometimes by people who came across as so reasoned, thankfully some have left the site some changed their user names mind you.
It’s gradually ramped up to the outright racism we find acceptable in our mainstream press and political parties.
