I said it before in terms of Boyce and I’ll say it again now for Evans, why oh why do we ask them to fulfil the role of playmaker from the back? Neither of them have a cultured pass between them, and yet AB seems to expect passes al a Moore, Beckenbauer, Hoddle or Trent when all they really have to do is win it and then pass it to a creative midfielder. Hmmm, maybe therein lies the problem?
Oh and don’t get me going about the lack of creativity in midfield. We had one and took him off!
Alas Smith for Jones …………….
Great win …….. BUT …. why oh why does AB suddenly think that Boyce is Beckenbauer ? First half tactically was awful and the sooner we realise that playing to strengths with some ambition, creativity, movement, and playing to feet beats side to side followed by a hopeful sand wedge forward every time!!!
It’s really painful to watch the team give so much ball to the least creative plater on the pitch. If I can see then why can’t the manager?

Every corner scares the crap out of me and Braintree clearer did their homework on us!
Also, since when did AB decide that sand wedge passing (with or without optional fade / slice) was de rigeur? Cannot believe how many times our defence and midfield show zero control or creativity once on the ball.
Come on AB, we were better than this!1 user thanked author for this post.

Given the evening kick off, I would expect it’s on DAZN – checked and it is
Totally agree. Said it before – our impact subs are invariable negative. Carlton has the first touch and dexterity of a JCB as evidenced by his one on one opportunity late in today’s game. Please move him on to a NLN team where he might be at his true level.
For anyone actually interested, Jimmy Dean has Spalding United currently sitting top of the Southern League Premier Central, with a crowd of over 1400 attending the most recent game on 28th against local rivals Stamford. Credit due for both achievements in what is in effect 7th tier football.
Me too with RH commentary which was pretty darn good. Some really good moves throughout the game and what a difference Ewing makes to the team !
My only real concern, again, is our use of subs. Have we ever looked a stronger team post the usual 4 second half subs? If so, I can’t remember. Equally one has to ask the honest question – is J Dawson ever likely to make it at this level? I just can’t see anything in him to be affirmative. His performance today was pretty awful – such a slow and weak player totally unsuited to the position we play him in. Sad to say but he’s a deadweight in the squad IMHO

Looks like a forced change in keeper – Watson in for Campbell
Agree on the Tamworth coverage which was awful, but it has improved since. In terms of commentary I have DAZN with the sound down and then BBC RH with sound up. Can be a bit off a faff but once you’ve got the two in sync by repeatedly pausing and restarting the radio commentary stream until it’s in line with the visual stream, it works a treat !
If you remember recording Pick of the Pops with your two trigger fingers hovering over Record and Pause on your twin cassette deck you’ll soon get the hang of it !

totally useless streaming today. Refunds please !!!
November 26, 2024 at 8:08 pm in reply to: Has Anyone Unravelled The DAZN Takeover of National League TV? #294621Shocking quality – reminds me of the old 486 PC via shared party line !
Got to be refunds on the cards ?
Part-timers who can actually control a ball with the first touch would be a bonus ! Never seen so many players in one team who are totally incapable of:-
– controlling a football
– passing a football (ideally to a team mate!)
– heading a football (either in attack or defence)
– shielding a football (arms, back, or arse – any will do!)
– hoofing a football as quickly and as far as possible when the need arises (and it does !)I have no idea what the advantages are of this squad being full time other than the ego massage they all have of being able to say “professional footballer”. Pity they don’t behave like that !
Last night’s awful performance and this morning’s Trump victory have really set me up for a baaaaaaad day :-(

Most important game of the season and we play one upfront – JD clueless
me too – shocking !
Not to send their player off near the end of the game was piss poor.
All about opinions, I thought she got the yellow card right

[Agree, one of the best referees I’ve seen all season. She let the game flow, got most of the big calls spot on, and most importantly, the game wasn’t all about her. Low ego, high control and respect.

As already stated, Michelle has Scunthorpe United in her blood, along with a proven track record of success with this club working professionally and tirelessly to bring in much needed revenue under a number of “regimes”. The least we can all do is support her and refrain from all of the inane, childish and sexist comments contained within other threads on this site. For those who think it’s funny to make crass jokes about anyone because of their sex is beyond the pale and I would ask all moderators to review said posts, remove them and issue a statement of intent going forward. Let’s not allow Irun Bru to descend to the depths of any form of sexist behaviour or commentary.
Michelle – I wish you good luck and every success in your new role.

Sad to say but I’m not at all baffled by the guy persisting with the same formation(?) game in game out, irrespective of the opposition or players available to him. Why ? Have you heard the guy speak ????? He has to be THE thickest manager out there. When a guy can barely string two or three words together to form a coherent sentence, how the hell can he be expected to communicate with players, let alone have the mental capacity and thought processes required to consider options, alternatives and responses under pressure ? From listening to his inane pre and post interviews it’s clear we’ve employed a pub club manager, a shouter and bawler, no more, no less.
Does anyone at the club even think about testing basic intelligence before appointment?
And Elliott has contributed what when he has been used as an impact sub ?
Really strong performance all game until we made the substitutions – from the moment Feeney and Elliott replaced Shields and Wilson respectively, we totally lost control of the game. Why ? Simple – neither of them understand the meaning of closing down, tracking back, or pressing the opposition off the ball. To make matters worse, Elliott just does not have a goalscorer’s instinct / talent.Bennett replaced by Daniel and guess what, we totally lost our aerial dominance upfront. Come on JD, it’s not rocket science to coach players on the fundamentals.
These issues aside, best performance I’ve seen from the Iron for months. Let’s hope it’s a sign of things to come.

What chance Nige and Grant pooling their past pay-offs and becoming the dream team saviours ?
Turnbull Adkins & McCann sounds like a firm of solicitors but who cares ;-)

Can’t disagree with any of those scores based on what I endured today. What brassed me off more than anything though was the total lack of energy, urgency, pressure, desire, call it what you will but we just didn’t seem to care about the game or the outcome.
Lost count of the number of heading duels lost, first balls (let alone seconds) missed, and repeated aimless hoofs upfront for McGahey and Piergianni to return with ease; they’ll certainly never have an easier afternoon that’s for sure.
Team spirit and desire to win were pretty much like our Chairman ……… in absentia !

I’m sure one of our resident statisticians could map out the talent we’ve had and let go over the past 10 years. Such an incredible waste of talent and value. Any business leader who knows anything about human capital, talent development, retention, and added value (unlike our self proclaimed guru Ernest Prawn ) would be appalled, and lose their job with this track record. Anyone remember Matt Godden playing for Brigg Town ?
Where are they now Ernest ? ……………….1 user thanked author for this post.
Was only a matter of time and some would probably say long overdue but who the hell would take this on, especially under the current leadership?
Sorry for Coxy – really nice guy but probably out of his depth . Really wanted it to work for the fella but it was the right decision in the end, as tough as that is on him personally. Wish him all the best and hopefully a future role back in football where he can continue to learn his trade. He deserves it.
Anyone seen Nige at Forrest Pines yet?
