Speaking of Gateshead. A snippet from the Newcastle Journal: –

Long term absentees Danny Greenfield and Luke Williams return to the Gateshead squad after setbacks earlier in the season.

Williams made 42 appearances for home town club Middlesbrough before moving to Scunthorpe United. Injury has blighted the 28 year old who is yet to start for The Heed.

    I don’t do optimism…

    Neither do I.

Let’s just say I’m less pessimistic!

But surely it wouldn’t be too much of an investment to replace it with one that could be incorporated into any new/refurbished ground?

    😂😂😂

    Refurbished ground???

    Yeah, right!

An incredible Cox-like substitution, baffling indeed.

Millen isn’t great at defending, but he can cross a ball. Maybe that’s what he was thinking.

I remember my mother saying that during the winter of 1940/41 everyone thought it was just a matter of time before the Germans landed on our shores.

We’re not done for just yet!

If we’d not run out of steam and hung on we would have been out of the bottom two.

Likewise if those late equalisers we conceded against Carlisle, Sutton and Barrow had been avoided we’d have been in a much better place.

If Hill can sort that out we just might get out of this predicament.

And yes, I’ve used a lot of “ifs” but we’re not adrift by mid November, which did seem likely six weeks ago.

Strange how these things often happen.

Had Bilson not got injured in that first game Watson may never have played for us again.

Fully agree that he’s the most improved player this year (not difficult admittedly) and Richard makes an interesting point re: availability of another loan, not necessarily a keeper.

Just what I was thinking Sanfran.

Seeing as how two of our better players share the LB role I’d like to see one pushed up wide left.

Still not enough experience in CMF for me. I hope one or two of those lads mature quickly.

Just seen the mugshot of KH on the podcast link below.

I don’t think we’ve a new manager at all. Just that under all the stress Cox has aged twenty years!

The team selection will prove whether I’m right or wrong.

They relay peoples drive ways, cut corners and only do half a job,

Do they also tar people with the same brush, or is that your job?

    Quick shuftie at free agents:

Lee Camp, Kieran Westwood, Ben Alnwick.

    Jason Shackell, David Wheater.

    Jimmy Ryan, Joe Ledley.

Calvin Andrew, Chris O’Grady, Ishmael Miller.

Plenty of experience there. Depends whether they’d do it for pocket money!

Would tend to agree. I don’t think anyone has boasted about staying away, merely telling it how it is from their point of view.

I remember the low gates from the 70s. Remind me what encouraged the fans back then.

How we need a Bishop type character to lead good prospects like Pugh and Perry.

We need a Bishop type character that plays more than one game in ten!

Whoever is appointed it would be good if they had the same attitude as the new Spurs boss: –

“Conte’s has said that every member of the first team unit would be treated equally and that nothing but 100% commitment would be tolerated.

He also vowed to improve every player on the condition that they buy into his ultra-demanding philosophy.”
