Hoping its KLT but i think Chorley will beat them 2-1

I don’t care either way but if pushed into making a choice I would prefer Kings Lynn, too… Purely based on our home results against both teams earlier in the season.

To be ‘Smoking Goated’ should be common parlance.

    Smoking Goat. Steve Guinan.

    Smoking Goat, Steve Guinan.

Coincidence? I think we should be told.

JD was relieved of his duties for failing to get promoted

Or because his salary was a Disney figure dreamed up by Hilton in a coke-stupor.

Bonkers that our pinnacle up that point vs MK we were only getting 6.5k for a shot at championship.

I think the fact the Club almost disappeared forever has a bit to do with the current numbers – people realising once it’s gone it’s gone, and trying to do their bit to make sure they support.

    Let battle commence

    Trust V Club more like.

Club choose to ignore the trust when wanting to talk with fans.

    Trust choose clubs ex merchandisers.

Smoking Goat to launch The Trust Burger?

Should also add, here, that I thought the Merch Labs people handled themselves with great dignity when they were turfed out of GP. They could have Smoking Goated all over social media, but they chose to keep their powder dry. That’s worth remembering.

Not sure I like this idea ,they fell out with the club and some quite pointed accusation were leaked out about short notice and wives having to collect the gear ,for the trust to get into bed with them so soon after after such a fallout send a bad message in my opinion.

I’d imagine the Trust is ‘repaying’ faith to Merch Labs for pumping out those (badly designed) Save Our Steel mugs a couple of weeks back, which must have been on super-quick turnaround. At basic level, they’re trying to show support to a local business. However, the fact that business was seemingly treated badly by the Club and there’s ‘beef’ there is a big factor, as you could now perceive the Trust to be very visibly taking sides. Imho that’s an error of judgement.

I would add that anyone trying to claim that’s any stand at OSG is being lazy

I also thought this. Not really distinguishable as the OSG.

Also, picky though some may find this, was the OSG really “home of the Iron” from 1899? The Club’s original nickname was The Knuts.

Was just having a look at the new shop after seeing Mike’s designs being used. My initial reaction is I like some of the new merch labs t-shirt designs and whilst not a big fan of Mike’s design style, I absolutely love the endeavour and partnership. Great stuff. The Butler design made me laugh. Someone needs to buy Jeff ‘so called’ Pugh one for his birthday :)

I applaud Mike’s efforts. Not my thing, either, but really good – artistic and thoughtfully done. Fair play to him, there will be ‘an audience’ for his stuff, for sure. I don’t like any of the Merch Labs stuff, I have to say. I just can’t connect with it at all – ideas seem flat or half-arsed or rushed, and the designs could be so much better executed. If I was buying SUFC-related merch, in terms of the way it looked I’d want a decent, clever, tasteful aesthetic and not some clip-art level seaside tat.

No idea what Butterfields injury is but he’s not played for Gateshead since before Christmas.

Only made 19 appearances this season.

Whilst we managed 1 extra point and exactly the same outcome without him. Remind me who were the prophets of doom that predicted mid table at best without Butterfield, Ogle and Elliott.

Hopefully not quite ‘exactly the same outcome’ but your point is bang on. We’ve survived without them. WHO WOULD HAVE THOUGHT?

Why would she lie about just above the minimum wage, she also said it was a 65% wage cut so you do the maths.

I didn’t say she lied, I said “deliberate downplay”.

“Just above” the minimum wage could be £19.50 per hour as much as it could be £12 per hour… etc etc.

Sticking up for ones husband isn’t unseemly.

Going on social media to draw supporters into her husband’s argument with the Club was unseemly. That’s not sticking up for him, that’s shit-stirring.

It certainly created ‘a stink’ on socials

It did, and it was really unseemly of Mrs B.

Just above minimum wage would seem very insulting to me even if it was a new post Hilton wage structure.

Wasn’t the ‘just above minimum wage’ claim from his wife on social media too? Seem to recall that but may have got it wrong. No idea what the actual truth is on this aspect.

I’d suggest that when Mrs Butterfield said “just above minimum wage” it was a deliberate downplay to mislead supporters into thinking he’d been offered £12 an hour.

So, you’d accept a new wage structure being put in place but wouldn’t accept it applying to you?

If we don’t go up, it’ll be the fans retained list that counts.
That is, those that will be purchasing a season ticket and those POTD punters.
I think attendances are bound to dip if we’re still in NLN next season.
I’d guess they will be 750 to a 1,000 less if we aren’t in the NL.

There may be a bit of a drop off – and hopefully if we go up there’ll be an increase.

Butler decided last season, saying Butterfield didn’t fit in with his plans and don’t we know it.

If I recall correctly, the Club made Butterfield three contract offers, which were rejected by the player – so I’m not quite sure how that squares with what you’ve suggested Butler said.

The issue was Butterfield moving onto the post-Hilton wage structure but kicking off about being on less money than other players (who were still contractually on the Hilton wage structure). His Mrs sold it on social media as Butler and the Club being insulting to Butterfield when, in fact, he was insulting the Club by not accepting the drive to cut coat according to cloth and she was insulting the Club by not mentioning it.

Usually middle of the week after the last game.

Last year it was 10th May (two weeks after the Play Off semi-final on April 27th).

Deeryme accused me of try to pull a PR stunt to persuade the Matlock fans…anyone remember that?…. just wonder if he will admit it was a master class performance from a burger flipper against a host of Hilton haters with all their negative reports of anything to do with Hilton they could find on line?…. or maybe,…. just maybe, the Matlock fans did not like the hatred displayed, but rather preferred my balanced approach to the situation, and also considered the good situation at Ilkeston with Hiltons long time involvement, and the disastrous 7-8 year situation at Scunthorpe with Hilton not being involved with about 99.9% of it.
I have the utmost respect for one of your members though…Awaywego, the only one of you to break ranks and question things that don’t quite add up at Scunthorpe, he is a credit to you all, with not sucking up to the official Irn Bru line and assessment of everything that goes on in Scunthorpe football club, and the rest of the world, and I am very surprised Irn Bru are not trying to run the show with the steel works, with Deeryme being the union shop steward shouting the odds… sleep well boys, I will.

Convicted fraudster, and recipient of a letter from the FA warning him of his conduct.
What could possibly go wrong with this fit and proper person as an owner?

it didnt matter against PBS we missed so so many but its become a bad trait that will happen in games where it does matter and chances must be taken.

We missed plenty against Kings Lynn, we could have won that 3-1 or 4-1 – just watch the highlights video.

We also missed a couple of good ones against Radcliffe.

If someone gave me the best budget in the league (by a margin allegedly) and the best squad of players (Butlers words not mine) then I would be expecting promotion.

We haven’t not been promoted. That’s my point about some of the comments I’ve seen bandied about. Why lay into him / them at this stage when the season is not over and we don’t know whether ‘the job’ has been done or not?

… and what would you expect him to say about his players? Part of man-management is to keep your team emotionally buoyant as that surely improves confidence and therefore performance. I’ve never heard him say “We’ve got the best squad of players”, but I have repeatedly heard “I believe we’ve got the best squad of players”. There’s a subtle but important difference, imho.

    Yes, I think that’s fair

A lot of the entitlement and histrionics comes from attachment to our former status. I do sort of understand it as it’s pretty embarrassing to have fallen to this lower level. But I think with our Club’s recent off-the-field history, being calm, measured and realistic is the best way forward. And being fair about Butler’s efforts is the done thing.

It’s a similar pattern at other ex-league clubs when it’s not all rosy on field. Bury the most obvious example until recently. I think Butler’s done fair to middling this season but there are numerous mitigating factors already cited.

I’d say middling to good. In his first season as a manager that is not a bad effort – and he’s learned as he’s gone along with a fair bit of dignity imho.

Some fans spit their dummies out when things dont go the way they think it should, entirely understandable it happens at all clubs and all fanbases

That’s true, but in our case it seems particularly entitled.
