What do we need?

Looking at things as they stand, what do we need next season?

I’d say: A good goalkeeper, two central midfielders (one highly creative and forward-thinking, and one as hard as nails, more defensive minded).

Agree on the defensive midfielder, not sure on another creative – think we are still short of cover on defence even if we keep hold of Kouogun? Only 3 CB’s on the books and no cover on the left or right (Scales?) untill Barrows is back.

Also, what happened to the Conor Smith rumours, just pie in the sky?

Goalkeeper, Clunan’s replacement and a CB (Kouogun resigning or a replacement) are the priority. Still feel we could do with a proper out and out left winger, don’t like it when Beestin is played there and both Roberts and Carlton are better on the right. Starbuck isn’t good enough (yet!) to be our starting right back so we need someone else there too.

1 Attack Mid, 1 [clunan like], a Mo Fadera type, Another keeper but we don’t know if Campbell will be 1st choice so perhaps a Prem Lge prospect season long loan.

But we may need more if others choose to move on.

We need another LB, GK, DCM, LW, RB. Starbuck I’m unsure about and Barrows is still crocked. I wouldn’t mind Rose back on another loan and another CB if Kouogun doesn’t sign.

National League sides are often very strong in the air from corners, wide free kicks and long throws based on our season in that league.

At least one midfielder that is tall/strong in the air is always useful.

I’m generally pleased with the players we’ve retained. A bit disappointed to lose Clunan, who may well have proved valuable in the NL. On balance, looking at the squad, I now feel we’re a couple / a few really good ‘proven’ signings short…

Yes NL has been slow with regard to player signings ..the NLN has seen more activity KLT alone completed their 11th yesterday.

More action at AAGP would be most welcome especially a keeper and beefy midfielder a must.

If Maxi doesn’t re-sign then he’ll definitely need replacing. Don’t fancy Evans and Boyce alongside each other all season.

Other than that, a keeper and dominant midfielder are obvious needs. Don’t particularly like the right back situation either, Starbuck was barely ready to be starting games in NLN and we won’t see Barrows on the pitch until some point next year.

Seven on the bench this coming season too, we currently can’t fill it as we only have 17 players on the books and one of those is crocked.
