According to Matt “from bru podcast” Clunan has moved on !
June 16, 2025 at 12:35 pm #305881If true then the Club should be on top of any announcements rather than coming from rumours via any other sources first.
Was hoping Clunan would be staying but sounds unlikely now.June 16, 2025 at 12:57 pm #305882That’s what’s on twitter and something that he’s heard. I can’t see him being that far off the mark to get that wrong.
June 16, 2025 at 1:17 pm #305883Where are our ITK posters when you need them?
June 16, 2025 at 1:38 pm #305885Linnets fans facebook suggest he’s heading back there.
June 16, 2025 at 1:44 pm #305886He was very good last season, but if being honest I think we need better than Clunan if we’re to hold our own in midfield in the NL.

When hearing this “rumour? i did automatically think i bet if he is leaving it will be to rejoin KLT.. they are splashing the cash
June 16, 2025 at 2:54 pm #305888Agree with BLT. Wholehearted player but probably too lightweight for the next level up.
Certainly Clunan and Scales in CMF wouldn’t have the opposition quaking in their boots.

June 16, 2025 at 3:10 pm #305889If Scales starts games – I can’t see it being in midfield.
June 16, 2025 at 4:18 pm #305890Sounds like it’s a last minute decision on his behalf.
We needed a centre mid regardless, Clunan leaving frees up some of the budget for that. He was never a favourite of mine but you can’t deny he a solid end to the season and seemed to give it all for the shirt. Lifted a trophy as captain for SUFC too which will long be remembered.
June 16, 2025 at 4:23 pm #305891All the best to him.
Knows his limitations – knows his level.June 16, 2025 at 4:45 pm #305892No great loss, he was at the limit of his ability last season and one huge reason we were so boring and frustrating to watch .I’ll not miss him

June 16, 2025 at 4:55 pm #305893Be nice to have a playmaker who can chip in with some goals. A dead ball expert?
June 16, 2025 at 5:19 pm #305896As good as Clunan was in the second half of the season. I feel that he would struggle to be as ‘influencial’ in the National League. Whilst I am sorry to hear he is departing, I feel that this may actuallly turn out to be a blessing in disguise (as long as the club recruit well).

June 16, 2025 at 9:14 pm #305900I feel Clunan was underrated by his ardent critics and overrated by his fans. He did well in NLN, some didn’t see it, but the NL will be a lot more physical and that could have been his undoing.

Must admit I warmed to him as the season progressed. Terrific work ethic, occasional good skills. Made mistakes, stray passes etc – but in general a big contributor to the success of 2024/25.
If he’s going back to Kings Lynn, I’d say it’s in part a geography issue – wasn’t he travelling up to Scunthorpe every day? He has a small child (or children?), and time travelling is wasted time, away from his kids and away from family responsibility.
Or, if he actually moved his family to the Scunthorpe area, perhaps the day to day support network you need when you have small kids just isn’t there for them.

June 17, 2025 at 12:19 pm #305917I think I read a while back he was travelling to Scunthorpe from where he lives.
June 17, 2025 at 1:42 pm #305919He’s confirmed on his X account that he is leaving, thanks etc…
June 17, 2025 at 4:41 pm #305925When he joined us wasn’t he part time at Kings Lynn ? He is 31 he has to think what comes next and as a qualified accountant probably look to build up this side of his life again. Less travelling time would also added pressure.
Good luck to him, did what was wanted of him here and SUFC back into the National League.
June 17, 2025 at 5:03 pm #305927I think Kings Lynn turned full time after he left them to join us. So if he’s returning there I’d definitely be more inclined to say it’s for family reasons as opposed to getting back into the accounting game.
June 17, 2025 at 5:12 pm #305928Yeah officially gone, thought he led the team well and his second half of last season performances were his best out of both seasons for the club IMO. Good luck Michael and thank you.

June 17, 2025 at 8:59 pm #305935If somebody told me at the end of last season that we would re-sign Whitehall and Roberts and lose Clunan, I would have snapped their hand off.
I don’t blame him for going back there with all the travelling he was having to do and missing out on his child. Fairly play to him, he did what was needed and got us up.
I think we need a more combative type in there anyway. I suspect Clunan may have gotten bullied in the National League.
