No disrespect to your legal eagle friend Les, but wouldn’t they have had to have seen the agreement Messrs Swann and Hilton made to form a robust assessment?

Ha ha, we all know the money comes from…actually where does it come from? A magic money tree?
June 1, 2023 at 5:03 pm in reply to: Yet another…’what have you been listening today?’ Thread #263534I’m sure you have. There’s plenty of old timers still haven’t worked it out mind!

About time all that grass verge in the middle of Queensway is put to good use. If it was good enough for me to go arse over tit on it inebriated on my push bike when I was much younger, it’s good enough for regional football training. Lower your expectations chaps.

Might get awaywego telling me I won’t be going to watch training so what do I care?!
Sounds like we’re waiting for ourselves to be evicted before we can move back in! See where we end up I suppose.
🤣
Think it would be a fair bit more than £30m I-A so my previous point still stands.
Plough Lane is 9k capacity and cost £30m. Need to stick inflation and remedial costs on top of that for a 12.5k one in town I reckon.
Not the Ilkeston facilities obviously-the new ones. When do players arrive for pre-season training? Early July? Wouldn’t that assume they’ll be training at Ilkeston for at least 3 months till the new facility is available? What if it goes okay there? Why move to a new facility? These questions could be answered a bit more easily if we were told where they’re going to be I suppose. Maybe I’ll have to wait till Barra gets on the phone to him again?
I missed that bit. Any idea where they are?
Wouldn’t it be easier to just pay Swann what he agreed to pay him when they made a deal and use half that £30m on stadium improvements?

Trying not be cynical but the new stadium stuff all seems a little ‘on the hoof’ and reactionary. I mean if I was bidding for funds to help support this venture, I think the potential funder would expect a lot more detail and a strong case for support. Perhaps it’s coming but it certainly takes a lot of time and can’t be done over a few weeks.
Blimey. That’s a hell of a lot time and a lot of money. Wonder what the total costs will be for all this? I’m assuming there’s some top line figures somewhere, even sketchy ones. Wonder if Barra can ask Mr H?
Bit harsh. I’d say a Commodore 64.

Yep. His comments about the ground were false, so what else might be? For the last few weeks we have been assured that we can rent Glanford Park based on his word, with any doubt dismissed as rumours. Now we find out that isn’t necessarily the case.
I think this is a very good point. I’d like to give him the benefit of the doubt but his checkered past added to what he’s said in his tenure so far and what has actually happened, in some cases, isn’t filling me with confidence. I’m quite amazed that claims ‘we’re definitely playing at GP next season but we might not be’, and a new 12.5k stadium will be built in 2 years on toxic wasteland are met with such a positive reaction. It seems like a weekly lowering of expectations. The majority of supporters despise Swann so much, çritical analysis has been parked.
Plus a burger van :)
It is that, and fine if you like it, but when a key member starts spreading rubbish about like Max has done, it’s out of order. I’ve noticed other members of it chipping in with occasional digs on Twitter too. Anyway, made my point, just my opinion. Don’t want to labour it.
🤣 no denying, that’s funny
‘It is no surprise to me that iron-bru.co.uk is being targeted, just as it doesn’t surprise me why Hilton went on Iron Hour’.
Agreed. Nothing remotely ‘independent’ about Iron Hour’. This is why Bru is valued by many of us on here; for maintaining independence and being critical but fair, supportive when it’s merited. Without it, we’d be poorer as supporter base. We often don’t agree with each other, the last few months have reached a peak, but give me that any day over a doolally Facebook Group and the critique-lite lad bantz of Iron Hour. IMO if they’d received a small fraction of the insults and abuse hurled at SST, ME and BM over the years, they wouldn’t have lasted five minutes. Thus, Max’s latest cheap shot grates even more.
it spreads the narative though, can you imagine them saying governement refuse to negotiate causing travel chaos?
True, it fuels those unsupportive of it but, but then they’d be accused of being The Morning Star.
