Bpg – a more befitting thread title would be, ‘This is why I am always right and you always wrong’.
I preferred the old re- election system.
Don’t think they got it to far wrong when in action.Lol, I was just thinking about that cloak and dagger, nudge and wink system.
‘This system was often described as an “old pals act” because the existing League members typically voted to keep the current clubs in the League, regardless of their performance, making it difficult for non-League teams to gain entry on merit alone.’
‘Nice bottle of claret and Cuban cigars when you return next season squire!’
Blimey, and I thought Bob Marley’s cause of death was tragic enough.
Couldn’t make it over to Scunny today but enjoyed Ollie and Torps on Humberside. Torps seemed pleased with the performance and glad Bernard and his Irish Iron cohorts experienced a win on their pilgrimage. Happy days. Up the mighty Iron.
Lol, weren’t some saying no one would want him?

No I don’t. But neither do I know if the club owing the directors over £1m is correct or not. You clearly don’t know for sure either.
Should do well there and hope it reboots his playing career.

‘that takes the club north of £1,000,000 owing the directors.’
Have you fact checked that?
No, but it is what it is and we are where we are, though neither do I like the idea of racking up more debt in the form of loans if it’s not necessary. That’s where balance comes in rather than building up even more debt than is necessary to get back to league status. The gambler tried that and failed. The fraudster took us to the brink of insolvency.
Damn right we should be concerned about finances. Have the Swann and Hilton eras taught you nothing awaywego?
It’s mind boggling that you take issue with this common sense observation:
‘the Div 2 league money is not to be sniffed at but we must not gamble recklessly.’
Exactly as it should be if we want a solvent club to support in the future

Anyone on here old enough to remember Yeovil’s famous cup upset V Sunderland in 1949? It was still being reminisced about in football annuals when I was a lad in the early 70s.
I’m old enough to remember the flawless Gary Sprake!
Famously chucked it into his own net away at Liverpool. At halftime they played Careless Hands by Des O Connor over the PA, famous scouse humour surfacing yet again.
That’s quite funny, but don’t get stuck in a pub with a Scouser. That ‘famous Scouse humour’ grates after the third or fourth quip. Someone should tell them, being Scouse doesn’t automatically make you a funny guy

I think he’ll get loaned out to whoever wants to pay what York are asking. As long as it’s not a league rival.
Top 7 teams looking locked in, for now, particularly comparing goal difference of teams below Southend. Be interesting to see what it looks like by Jan.
Bogshed
Unsurprising really. He’s admitted he wanted him back to weaken us not because he was needed. Not yet anyway.
I was being sarcastic awaywego. No, it’s not to much to ask. I did say, IF they could agree with Leeds he wouldn’t keep playing for the U21s. No harm in it, till he gets an injury there. My honest opinion is we need another permanent keeper really and have Campbell as a back up, when fit.

The flawless Meslier?
If we could get Mahady on loan for the rest of the season, without being called back for Leeds U21 duty, he would be our own, to an extent. A keeper on a full time contract can still get an international call up. What you’re really suggesting is a keeper on a permanent contract who’s excellent, but not so excellent he might be getting an international call up. Does he have to be a certain height, weight, and be incredibly good in every aspect of his game (shot stopping, distribution, commanding his area, excellent at set pieces, particularly corners, etc)?
Who is this god like goalkeeping stalwart? Anyone got a number for him?
Seriously, do we need to be looking at luring a second choice premiership or championship keeper to meet our high goalkeeping standards?
Maynard said ‘Scunthorpe have done incredibly well, and Rory’s been a huge part of their success’.
Clearly hasn’t read any expert analysis on Watson from wondergoals, Matt Ellis and a number of others. Really, what’s he thinking?

This thread’s moving a long way from Jonathan and the fundraising appeal!

Though drainage doesn’t appear to be an issue, as far as I can tell. Heavy rain appears to hold down the ruts and divots a bit?
Aye, people in glass houses…or a cattle field. ‘The New Show Ground’ might have been apt after all.

Thanks, just made them. Totally forgot with all that Dale dithering.
Quite amusing the Dale fan complaining about Scunny fans calling them tinpot on clubs X feed when most seem to be Bury and Oldham fans
AI says this: ‘During the England vs. Romania 1998 World Cup match, Kevin Keegan’s infamous commentary line was “There’s only one team that’s going to win this game now”, said after Michael Owen scored an equalizer. He made the comment while co-commentating for ITV, but moments later, Romania scored a last-minute winner to win the game 2-1. The moment is often cited as a classic example of “tempting fate” in sports commentary.’
Common sense prevails. Obviously wanted to try, or be seen to be trying to get it on, as the authorities will be asking questions if they carry on postponing fixtures due to a bit of rain
There’s definitely a decent footballer in Chadwick, just not worked out with us.
Appreciate it’s not as simple a decision for those who already have travel booked and, god forbid, a night in rainy Rochdale.
Not risking it being postponed at 7pm or on arrival. Took them up on their refund offer, payable on completion of the match, whenever that may be.
