“Shrimpton’s progress from last season is stunning. If he can maintain that increasing improvement – looks like a season-changing big sale to the Championship next year.”
I’m thinking too much Irish.
“nobody contributes the energy that Pugh does.”
Don’t confuse energy with ability.

“Pugh and Shrimpton we have two mobile, athletic , very hardworking midfielders which cover the ground fanatically well.”I must be missing something here. Pugh runs around a lot, puts in a few tackles (some fair, mostly fouls) but is clueless when on the ball and we’ve seen evidence of his shooting ability. However he is visible, I’m still trying to work out what Shrimpton does. Whitehouse better than both IMO.

I’d like to see some (only some) of the current squad contracted for next season at least. I guess it’s difficult without knowing where we’ll be. We’re lucky to have Butterfield in the NL, I think NLN might be a bridge too far and others are clearly better than that level too.
Nothing I saw today has changed my views on Pugh or Shrimpton.
Overall a quality performance which raised my hopes considerably, more please Jimmy. What I’d like:-
Chapman
Ogle Smith R-E Leake
Feeney Butterfield Whitehouse Shields
Elliott Bennett
(Gone for experience)What I’ll get:-
Chapman
Ogle ? R-E Leake
? ? Butterfield ? ?
BennettOur opponents can easily underestimate us and seldom be disappointed.

Maybe a bit low NI!!!!
But it’s a bit ambitious, in the current climate, to hope that over 50% of the fan base have a spare £2000 lying about.Mrs Lesgeo was staying with a German family in Luneburg.
Town twinning? That brings back some memories.

Just my take based on no factual knowledge at all. It might be that, in some guise or other, Mr Swann still has some involvement in Glanford Park and will do so until 1899 shares of £1899 are purchased. Anybody know how sales are going?
Had tickets for the group games at Hillsborough but, as others, the final on TV at home in the front/sitting room in Scunny.
Plans obviously disrupted by the loss of Bunker, Beestin and B-RE but I’m still a fan of picking your best 11 players and using a system that fits them. Choosing your set up first and then picking players to fit that leaves better players benched and probably brassed off. Subbing Butterfield puzzles me too.
First half deserved to be in front, second half p*** poor. As above, shooting absolutely shocking. Sad to say, although they have come through the youths here, Pugh and Shrimpton are miles away from the standard required.
Wasn’t that Alf Tupper?

It’s a while ago now but my memory of Don Rowing’s spell was of the same mistakes made year after year. Let’s just do what we’ve always done whether it works or not.
Maybe Scotland doesn’t count? (Sorry Nicola)

I think Hilton said that only Chapman and Elliott were contracted for next season so we can rule out any income from transfers. Will the crowdfunding help to sustain us next season? Anybody any idea how it’s going?
Close, you have 3 letters right.
Just had a look on Wiki:-

Marcus Carver must be close to fitness!
Closer than he is to being a footballer!!
SUFC twitter:-
⚽️ On-loan midfielder Harvey Bunker has returned to parent club Forest Green Rovers after they activated their 28-day recall clause on his youth loan to the Iron.
Could get worse, I think Barrow have a similar option on Bennett. Let’s hope Jimmy and Gerry can kiss and make up just in case.

Looks like he has (possibly) 8 that he definitely wants to start, 3 from 10 or 12 for the other starters and then still some choice for the bench. Could change if the tactics change but that’s not looking likely.
At the very least he should be able to establish who’s keen to play and who’s just passing the time until pay day.
Good idea, let’s move our top goalscorer further back and see if he can score from there.

But apparently the best Scunthorpe manager ever.
Sorry – ever produced by High Ridge school.Moaning about pens he should have got whilst ignoring the ones won by cheating. Judging by the way he went down when ‘tackled’ by BR-E it’s a wonder he wasn’t finished for the season by the incidents described by Parkinson.
Pathetic!!!!!There appear to be some discards already.
Taft, McDonagh, Rowe look certain and Daniel, Fewster, Shields and DS-F are on the edge. Unlikely to be a future here for Hallam and O’Malley and it surely won’t take Jimmy long to put Carver in the discard pile. Maybe one or two of the youngsters out on loan might get a chance to impress here?Be brave, be brave!! I find it really strange that Cox seems to have much more idea of what is required now than he had when he was manager.
Surely such insight will be rewarded with another management job soon?1 user thanked author for this post.

“yes he has been supported by the new chairman but remember what he arrived into and the fact 11 new players have arrived”A big part of the problem for me, it appears that Hilton and Dean agreed we needed a keeper but then decided to pick 5 each to “improve” the squad.
Dean said in his interview that Fewster had impressed in training.
Have you sent Jimmy a copy of your post I-a, it might set him thinking and he could pretend it was his idea. Only Bruers will know the truth.
