Unless I’ve misheard Waltham on the radio humbs clip, he is saying Hilton might well have had contact with council officers, but Waltham himself hasn’t had anything to do with it and the planning process can’t be prejudged.
To be fair to Hilton if he’s spoken to someone at the council about it what more can he say at the forum ?

I think it’s fair to say the council can’t be completely behind the potential stadium and training ground until planning permission is granted and various procedures are followed.

Nothing really to gain from listening to that interview as far as I’m concerned. Hilton said himself planning will take roughly 3 months before he can even take it to the council for them to counter.

As it stands though the sites have had ground testing completed already and the sites were earmarked to be built on for leisure purposes, which a stadium would provide.

Long way to go yet though. Architects drawings and planning has been lodged we will be much closer to knowing where we stand.

Shame he won’t be able to save money by using the architects plans that Mr Swann paid a fortune for. A ‘Championship’ stadium might be a bit ambitious.

Mr Swann paid a fortune for?
I very much doubt he paid for them, the club paid for them!

In which case the plans belong to the club and he can use them, unless of course Swann still owns the club.

It is my understanding that a deal has been agreed with the football club for the land. However, as of this morning, it is still owned by Onward Holdings Ltd.

In the meantime another burner on Twitter abuses those asking valid questions about GP and the new land purchase.

This one is impersonating another user as well, which is even more disgraceful.

It’s alright to put a sign up saying land acquired by Scunthorpe United FC but it isn’t acquired until its paid for and signed up. As we know a price and deal agreed means nothing until its signed and paid for. Let’s be honest our Club is in a right mess at present and many of us supporters don’t trust Swann or Hilton. Neither are on speaking terms and it appears to me they could be playing one another. If Hilton has the money surely it would have made sense to pay Swann and then the stadium and land would be secured. If Hilton doesn’t have the money then how will he pay Onward Holdings for their land and also the other company for the mysterious land supposedly for the training pitch. The man must be nearly a billionaire or its pie in the sky.

I believe after reading about the unregistered piece of land included in the deal which has been stated is Swanns responsibility and apparently he has refused to register, is the sticking point. Regarding Hilton’s wealth it was in the club statement yesterday that he had provided Simon Elliott with proof of funds that he had enough funds for the deal. Simon Elliott is SUFC through and through and if what Hilton said wasn’t correct I’m sure Simon would be letting him and maybe the fan base know about it. Whatever is going on behind the scenes it has to be said is just a bag of bollocks as far as Iron fans are concerned and both men should be getting their respective fingers out to get something sorted, one way or another ASAP.

Call me old fashioned but I bat with a straight bat. I’m big on detail and if I say that I am going to do something, I do it. If I state something is fact, it needs to be just that. That’s how you build trust.

For all those who are prepared to take Hilton at face value and are willing to place your trust in him as he has requested, how do the following points sit with you?

    1) 25/01/23 – Mr Hilton said: “I’m pleased to say the takeover has now been completed, and the deal includes the football club, stadium and surrounding land.” – https://www.scunthorpe-united.co.uk/news/2023/january/club-statement/

    2) 02/04/23 – Accounts will be filed W/C 03/04/23. Still not filed – https://www.scunthorpe-united.co.uk/news/2023/april/-player-an-update-from-david-hilton/

    3) 18/05/23 – “The two recently acquired sites at Warren Road and Glebe Road were then discussed and Mr Hilton confirmed that, subject to the relevant planning consents, a new stadium will be erected and hopefully completed in time for the start of the 2025-26 season.” – https://www.scunthorpe-united.co.uk/news/2023/may/club-statement-fans-forum/

As of this morning (19/05/23), the land is still owned by Onward Holdings Ltd.

Old links already posted, no need to keep repeating them. How does unregistered land attempting to be sold sit with you ?

I have absolutely no interest in Peter Swann. Besides, he had no influence over the three points which I referred to in my earlier post.

In terms of the land issues which were raised in the club’s press release, go and speak with a solicitor specialising in land and commercial property transactions or a licensed conveyancer and let us all know how big a deal the issues are to resolve because at the minute you are solely relying on one interpretation.

A Grimsby fan and property development lawyer had a bit to say about this issue I believe, on Twitter. She was subsequently vilely abused by a brand new poster using childlike language and spelling but that clearly knew a lot about the situation. This new account holder had copied the photo and user handle of a critic of Mr Hilton impersonating the critic, to try and make viewers believe it was the critic making the disgusting tweets. Thankfully, he / she was alerted and the sham was revealed. What the hell is going on??

No idea. There has been a number of new accounts on here around the same time Hilton came. All a bit weird. Only a few weeks ago some plank posted on Fishy that Hilton was an international crime boss, while implying he was the modern day Al Capone lol

Tbh, I viewed the Fishy earlier and didn’t see any of that (possibly posted weeks ago?). There are however, a fair few Cods on there and Twitter having reasonable discussions about our current situation and very concerned about the way it seems to be heading. Maybe some are making too many similarities to the Fenty years but it’s interesting and weird how there seems to be more Cods expressing concern than Iron supporters.

I don’t see any concern from Cods fans on The Fishy. Just bystanders watching a car crash slowly unfold. Unfortunately, I generally agree with what they are saying and I can’t see things ending well

I know the first tweet is old news to us but that and some of the subsequent posts and discussion speak ‘concern’.

Some concern from me .. but don’t realistically see how I can influence things. Happy with the type of signings we’ve made recently. Would hate to negatively prejudge Mr Hilton and then see him usher in a ‘golden age.’ I hope he does, I can’t get into the detail of IB with any confidence and do wonder why he is so keen
to sound the warning bells. But anyone is entitled to contribute. Just a waiting game for me.

I think a lot of Town fans are now genuinely concerned , as much as most want a laugh when things are not going well for you on the pitch ,I think the majority want the club to survive as what would football be without our local teams and rivalry ?

The Twitter thing is strange these accounts popping up and abusing anyone who asks reasonable questions , like you say the lawyer lady took some and today the thread you posted on here above another created account launched a tirade of abuse at everyone on the thread – there was no abuse from the originators of it just reasonable and justified questions as i could see .Who would do that ?

This Twitter stuff is horrendous. Sorry but there’s been enough red flags around Hilton from day 1, my mind is made up that he’s bad news. I don’t see any signs that his reign will end positively, I’ll conserve my energy for the inevitable next bad chapter.

I would love to see the club with a stadium back in town, for all the obvious reasons, but this guy’s track record of delivering projects doesn’t give me much hope, particularly within the time frame. His previous accounts filing on Companies House is a concern, 1899 Club was misjudged and numerous other things are concerning too. I know we have little choice right now, but I don’t understand this blind faith some have. Small matter of potential eviction from GP looming – cracking signings but where will they be playing?

Stolen by a little scrote or put up without permission on land that isn’t his by a little scrote?

I have never known SUFC fans being subject to such vile insults and torrents of abuse in twitter. A common theme is that the perpetrators all claim to be friends with David…

I have an idea who might be responsible for all that crap on Twitter. Let’s just say that I don’t think it is our current chairman…
