If a family of 4 are watching a match for a tenner and don’t think they’re getting value for money then what chance that they will return to GP, when allowed, if there’s little entertainment on offer.

At home to a team not even in the play off positions is a slightly different situation don’t you think NI?. Surely should be aiming to win games like that rather than the following away match.

Absolutely right. Does anybody (Cox aside) really believe we have set up or set out, from the start, to win games. If we have then the players have not carried out instructions. I get the impression that setting up not to lose is to blame for certain players not being able to play to their strengths and being either below par or disinterested. Is it really necessary to have KVV in our penalty area defending corners? Is the first priority for the wide players (Gilliead, Green, Eisa, Hippolyte) to provide cover for the FB?
CMs is protecting the back four the main job?

I must have missed something, when did passing to a teammate and shooting on target go out of fashion?

I think this is a bit unfair on the manager although I’m not entirely happy with his approach to matches. Playing 2 games a week regularly means he has to make changes, injuries and fatigue just have to be an issue and it’s possible some players are turning out less than 100% out of necessity. The recruitment issue is certainly a factor, Olomola, KDT, Jarvis & Mooney, for example, have a handful of appearances between them and are unlikely to get many more. Would we have been better off by signing one player capable of being a league regular – very likely.

I think we’ll be starting with a better base than this season. Taft is a good, experienced CB and Rowe, Onariase and O’Malley will all have more L2 minutes. Beestin has L1 games under his belt and Spence a full season in L2.
Green and Hippolyte have shown (sometimes) that they have something to offer and could step up to L2 level. Not sure that Jarvis is good enough and we’ve seen nothing of Mooney and KDT but clearly Loft is a major plus. I think all but Rowe are contracted for next season and it seems that, finally, those at the top have realised that Watson is not the answer. So a few (3?) quality signings, a couple of *loans* and a couple of youngsters/NLers to fill the gaps and improve some areas rather than loads of hopefuls who won’t get near the matchday squad and we’d look decent.
    * Proper loans not like the dross we ended up with this season.

” I feel sure that no one is perfect, are am I wrong in thinking that?????”

Yes, you are. But, as we’ve never met, I’ll let you off!!!!!!!!!!!

Our chances next season could and should depend on the next couple of months IMO.
Who do we want to keep?
Who can we afford to keep?
    Who wants to stay?
If we see a few new contracts sorted before seasons end then the signs are excellent, but who?
Howard – not everybody’s choice but solid at this level
Rowe – improving and looks the part
Karacan – would be a statement of intent
    Gilliead – as above
We know Eisa has said he won’t be staying but what about McGahey and KVV. Both looking a bit injury prone lately and likely on top money so they might be tough decisions.
Come on Mr Chairman, show us you still mean business.

Could be an interesting bench on Tuesday if some of those injured don’t recover. A look at Teddy Who and KDT or Fela maybe?

Mardy because he’s lost the penalty job?
Subbed off before he was sent off?

If you can’t see Spence as MOM find the nearest optician .He was outstanding

Exactly the reaction you’d hope for from any player you managed. Cox seems to have decided that Karacan/Beestin is his best CM pairing, Spence has certainly challenged that opinion. If only all players responded that way, well done Lewis, you’ve set the standard for the rest of the squad.

Regarding Clarke – I get the impression he is ‘looking after himself’ in matches and wonder if he is on an appearance based contract and trying to avoid injury. Could also explain why he gets in before Rowe if “picked if fit” is also in the contract?

Maybe that was Cox’s mistake – using Bananarama instead of the original?

Similar to Bolton game, very little inclination to attack until we went behind. If Cox wants to play defensively and hope to score on the counter attack then fair enough, that’s his game plan. (Wouldn’t be mine) But please don’t treat us like idiots and give us this b******t about how we’re going to attack the opposition.

Cox says he wants to be positive, 2-0 win if he is.

What he says and what he does often don’t coincide. Because of Cheltenham’s league position he’ll, once again, overestimate the opposition’s ability and set up to nullify a perceived threat. We have attacking players with enough pace and ability to threaten any team in this league if they’re allowed to do what they do best.

A few weeks ago Loft wouldn’t have been in most peoples first XI never mind a POTY contender! Credit to him, let’s hope his current form continues.

He didn’t kick the player in the face?

He can’t have done can he. As I said earlier, had the player been kicked in the face the physio would have been on for a concussion check and necessary treatment. I can only think the ref gave it for “intent”, players don’t actually have to make contact if they throw a punch or shove their head towards another. Very harsh IMO but as DSGM said, Bedeau gave the ref the opportunity to get it wrong.

“The second half subs and performance showed there was intention to win the game”

That was when we were one down Cliff and I’d suggest getting back level was the extent of the ambition. I wonder if those changes would have been made at HT if the score had been 0-0?

Doesn’t a kick in the face usually result in a visit from the physio?

Does anybody think that we had any intention to try and win that game? Cox moaning about dodgy penalties against, maybe if we got in the oppositions penalty area more often we might get a few ourselves!

There’s also the option of playing Rowe & Clarke at FB/CB, both have done it before. The option NOT to consider (please) is 3 CBs.

Agree 100%. I fear the management will see this as a tough game and go back to the “looking for a point” set up. Hope I’m wrong! I think it’s a winnable game if we set up to win it.

No chance of pleasing everybody of course, personally I have a problem with black kits and visibility. I even think all the claret & blues are a bit on the dark side, blue shorts would help but I too went for the stripes. I liked the white for the away kit and wouldn’t mind the yellow as third.
