Which begs the question, why did we not offer Karacan a contract?

Unless we did but he wanted to get on “the last helicopter out of Saigon”!

    From the ST:-
“The 32-year-old though rejected a new deal with the club, and it seems he isn’t short of offers heading into the summer.”

Well half the week gone and the anticipated excitement is very much on hold. Will we have any new faces in by the end of May never mind the whole squad? Surely the Chairman hasn’t filled us full of false hope has he? Telling us that 3 or 4 signings are close would be something to look forward to – but would it be true?

So we’re not the only club that signs players whilst managerless then!

    Speculation.
Chairman to supporters – ” Next seasons squad will be in place by the end of May”
Chairman to manager – ” We’ll leave the signings as late as possible when players will have lowered their salary expectations. I’ll get the best I can from what’s left, leave it to me and Will”

Do any of you actually listen to interviews? Cox has already stated that it won’t be happening, which was pretty obvious despite what Swann said.

    Cox is the boss.

So you suspect a return to the bad old days do you? We sign players in July when those available have been picked over and we are left to chose from those that nobody else wants. We’ve been there several times.

It always makes me laugh when some say “why did we let him go?” when most of these players have been subjected to dogs abuse at games and on social media by a certain section of fans.

If you ridicule young players either at games or on social media don’t expect their confidence to be sky high to perform how you wish.

Any answers on the ‘reasons to be optimistic’ issue yet? If you keep avoiding this I’ll start to think you don’t have any!

Surely they MUST be learning something though! If the report linking us with Muldoon has substance that would indicate a change of direction, we didn’t sign any 30+ y.o. last summer.

Quite right les, playing a lone striker unsuited to the job also contributes to the failure.

Shame we didn’t have more players playing for a move for more money last season. I’d be amazed if any of those OOCs improved their income although they’ll likely get more than our new contract offer. On a regular basis none of them showed themselves to be ” top L2 or better” IMO.

I’d even do it if you were owner Deerey, it’s called being a supporter!
Give it a go some time.

You were asked a few weeks ago, several times, for reasons to support your optimism and allow the rest of us to share your optimistic view.
Have you come up with anything yet?

His level of input is still an unknown, he admitted to Hippolyte which was clearly a mistake. (Two mistakes really, wanting him and admitting it) But Howard, Taft & Karacan kept us in the league IMO. Were they his choice?

” I doubt the budget will stretch that far.”

We’ve got rid of 17 including the high earners so I’d be very disappointed if we couldn’t afford at least nine. As you say we need at that as a minimum.

Absolutely right Bucks and there should be plenty out there. The issue will be selecting the right one and avoiding another wage thief, we’ve had enough of those. Wouldn’t be averse to a player/asst manager either. (Sorry Mark)

Maybe some of our OOCs should read this and reconsider their contract offers.

“Sergio Aguero is closing in on a free transfer to Barcelona – but could be forced into taking a 40 per cent pay cut. (The Sun)”

    So it must be true!

My thanks too Matt. I’m still trying to work out, when I never predict an Iron win, (except the last match when I went for a 6-0 expecting the boys to be let off the leash) how I finished so low down given the season that we’ve had. Iron results must represent about 75% of my points score!!!

“We then are treated with the news we have offered Jordan Hallam a new deal, he is a good lad and I do feel sorry for him but in 2 seasons he has started 7 games !!”

This is the club that gave Andy Dales a 1 year extension last summer remember. Great investment that was, will Hallam be similar?

I would trust Bish as a scout.

To have a chance of that job I think he’d have to successfully apply for adoption wouldn’t he?

So he says he wanted to stay. The club says he was offered a new contract. The Twitter feed says he was released because of budget cuts.
Where’s the truth in all this?

Could all be true. Wanted to stay but offered a contract that was below his expectations and requirements due to budget cuts.

There’s little doubt that the majority we release will head for the NL, although many of them are young enough to get another crack at the EFL if they’re good enough.
I am, however, very interested to see at what level KVV, Eisa, McGahey, Gilliead and Karacan are playing next season and how regularly they start.

Aren’t we all, what are the chances that he’ll be allowed to do it?

Incredible!! How many starts between them this season? One seldom fit and one seldom picked when he is fit.
Agree with mick about those that turned down reduced contracts, might want to reconsider if nothing better turns up. To be fair none of them have done enough this season to command big money and there’ll be masses of competition for jobs. 72 EFL clubs reducing their squads by say an average of 8-10 means players from a 3rd bottom L2 club won’t be among the most desirable on offer

Back as player/GK coach would be good, too expensive probably as we’d still need another keeper IMO.

Some years ago when North Lincs had a labour council, I emailed the then leader telling him he wasn’t listening and was risking defeat. He did not bother to respond.
    Lost the next election.

So it’s not just Mr Swann then, does anybody reply to your correspondence? Are you sure you’re using the correct addresses?

I feel the same as you and completely agree, I was going to give it one more season because I may give the car up in another year because I have got problems with dry eyes and it is severe in my left one, I can see OK but it is really irritating, and still don’t know what it would be like watching live football.

Sorry to hear that mick, sad to say you’ll get more sympathy on here than from the club who clearly have little regard for long standing supporters. Luckily they have impressive plans in place to attract hundreds if not thousands of new, young fans to replace…. oh, hang on – no that’s somebody else, sorry.

I believe (but I’m not certain) that there are rules preventing a football club owner also being the manager. Can anybody think of a way to get around any such rule?

If he has to go then it must be now. It’s still unclear how much input he and previous managers had in player recruitment. If he goes 10 games into the new season then we’ll be back to square one (again) with a new manager and a squad full of players that aren’t ‘his’ together with a chief scout that maybe he doesn’t want.
