I believe if the player makes an attempt to go for the ball in the area it can only be a yellow, even if he denies a goalscoring opportunity… but if he doesn’t make an attempt to play the ball there can be double punishment and a red.
There is definitely contact made with KVV. It may have been accidental but the player made no genuine attempt to play the ball. That should have been a penalty and a red card.
Denying a clear goalscoring opportunity is also a red card and you could certainly make a case that Gilly was clean through.
I did think he reffed it quite well overall, but went missing for a ten minute spell where he nearly lost control of it and all the key decisions went against us.
Howard was excellent when called upon.
Cambridge reminded me of us when we started faltering under GA. Granted they had a lot of the ball, but they ran out of ideas and the longer it went on the easier it got for us. That said, thought we defended really well considering we ended as a makeshift back four.
Clarke got stuck in at times, but sad to say I think he is finished.2 users thanked author for this post.
What was your opinion on the Taft penalty the game before
I thought Taft got caught out and despite the fact the striker made a meal of it, it was definitely a penalty. Tuesday on the other hand was a very poor decision.
Harrogate have a few good players – and that cheating forward looks a real find
Reminded me of a young Billy Sharp
He couldn’t kick it that far for us. Pleased for him. Great lad.
Straw-clutching for six points?
It’ll be replayed. The question is do our original predictions still stand or do we enter new ones as and when?
New matches will be added for the rearranged fixtures.

Final whistle results only. I can’t remember any SUFC matches that were abandoned and not replayed in my time supporting the club.

Outstanding last night. That last ditch tackle was immense.
I wonder if taking a punt on him despite his hernia injury allowed us to beat others to his signature. Certainly proving to have been a risk worth taking.
Will be interesting to see what happens when McGahey is fully fit. The fact he came back in at Barrow despite being anywhere near fit suggests to me that he is still Cox’s number 1 as it stands.
I still think a fully fit McGahey will be Cox’s first choice.
Howard was excellent last night. He didn’t have much to do, but he did the simple things so well. Looks to be full of confidence.
Manny not at it tonight so far.
Loft trained yesterday and is fine
Big unit, but can play a bit too. Saw him a few times for the Leicester development side when I was at uni. He was one of about three or four that came through under Sven at the time. Should help with our set piece woes. Quite pleased with this one.
I remember Swann suggested we looked to pay £2.5-3kish a week towards some of the Premier League players we had on loan(Thomas, Borthwick-Jackson), but I can’t imagine we would have been paying anywhere near that much for Taylor. I guess we would have certainly been making a contribution.
As I said on the Loft thread, Cox is keen but as it stands it’s unlikely to happen. He nearly came in the summer but we couldn’t get it over the line. Shares agent with Cox.
Cox is trying to bring in another big and nasty but not sure he will be able to. He has one in mind.
There was an interesting article in Bradford Telegraph and Argus which included comments from Hurst why he walked out, and it was clearly due to the way the club was run.
PS told me over the weekend that Hurst and Doig were both sacked and that he is still paying them off.
Looks like he fixed five players up in the summer and three came to us!
Hippolyte needs flogging for a small fee back to the conference
Ha. I can’t imagine any clubs will be lining up to pay a fee. Out of interest I wonder what we paid for him?
I didn’t understand Clarkes after match interview, as club captain if he was as passionate as he says why didn’t he do something about it on the pitch.
To be fair to Clarke I thought he was the only one who put in a few strong challenges and played as if it were a derby.
He can’t even do the basics well. I was embarrassed for him yesterday. Is he actually a footballer because at the moment he looks like a bloke who won a competition to play?
Is that pen stat saying Howard has saved 1 out of 1?
That’s in the league. Those stats were League Two only. Howard saved 1/3 overall. Solihull scored two in the cup.
Seen a few saying it was his best game for us – but it was an awfully low bar.
It was nice to see him actually attempt to take on a man which led to the winning goal. That must be the first time he has tried it this season!
A few stats..

Cheers gents, feeling better now!
Either Cox deserves an oscar or he is genuinely pleased about Will’s appointment.
Fun fact. He actually played a friendly or two for the youth team way back when Swann first joined the club. Also appears on the seasonal team photo. Karl Power stylee.
I was disappointed we didn’t do enough attacking wise, want to see Brown and Rowe supporting the wingers more often, the one time Rowe bombed forward we forced a save out of their keeper.
This.
