    Is he surplus to requirements?
    Is he fit?
    Is he match fit?

3 goals this season, 13 last season. I wonder if people are still thinking of the same Tom Pope.

Either way, I wouldn’t want him on a contract beyond the end of the current season.

I agree Ferrite, but if he’s contracted until summer at Vale then a short term contract here would seem unlikely.

Could be a loan. Then it is up to him to show he is worth an offer. Very competitive and ability to hold the ball.

Would be good to put him and Harry Jessop together.

Mike White said on Twitter that Cox said there is nothing in it, though we were interested in the summer.

As I said on the Loft thread, Cox is keen but as it stands it’s unlikely to happen. He nearly came in the summer but we couldn’t get it over the line. Shares agent with Cox.

We’d need THE POPE and his mate upstairs to get us scoring!

Pope is the right pedigree of player we should be chasing rather the likes of Mooney, Jarvis and Turan.

Highly unlikely there will be any transfer activity now given the latest lockdown measures though

Amateur sport is cancelled so I doubt we will be able to carry on. Don’t think we could convince anyone we are elite sport.

Hopefully they will end the season and we won’t get relegated and town will 🙂

6 weeks off will certainly do us no end of favours in terms of getting key players back. Presuming the club can also claim furlough for that period ?

Can’t see how we’d afford it.

    If we can somehow,

    Out

    Vincent
    Cordner
    Dales
    Butroid
    Taylor
    Watson (Needs game time)

    In

    Pope
    Nightingale
    Karacan

Good January as far as I’m concerned

    Karacan is in the building!

If Watson goes you just know that by the law of sod Howard will get injured!

Don’t know what the ruling is ( if any ) but if the season were to end now I doubt promotion of relegation issues could be fairly worked out on less then half a season played.

If we move Dales, Butroid on and send back Cordner…that may be enough to get Pope. Vincent isn’t coming back either I don’t think, so, that’s another wage saved.

There may just be enough to get Nightingale as well. Ideally we’d need another striker to go with pope but that’s not half bad business.

Whatever happened to one month loan deals?

An experienced striker and centre back would be ideal as they would not be breaking the bank and gives us the back up we need until manny, Mcgahey and Van Veen are close to returning

FA scraped the loan window outside of the Summer and Winter window.

Are we not able to sign a player on a one month deal during January?

Wouldn’t really help come February though. A bit more flexibility would definitely help clubs at the minute though.

Van Veen is nowhere near. Mcgahey back end of this month but Van Veen is back end of Feb. Cox said so last week.

Burney, I think you’ve misread CBRGs quote in Keadby Iron’s post. Either that or you’re guilty of a selective misquote.

Guthrie 6ft 3in striker gone to port vale, that could open the door for Pope to come to Scunny.

Don’t think so, quote from their local paper:-

“The club went into this month’s window looking for a striker, but that became more urgent when Tom Pope was injured in Tuesday’s Papa John’s Trophy game at Sunderland.”

One thing we’re not short of is injured strikers.

Suppose its better he gets injured now then the first match he plays for us.
