I didn’t understand Clarkes after match interview, as club captain if he was as passionate as he says why didn’t he do something about it on the pitch.
To be fair to Clarke I thought he was the only one who put in a few strong challenges and played as if it were a derby.
He can’t even do the basics well. I was embarrassed for him yesterday. Is he actually a footballer because at the moment he looks like a bloke who won a competition to play?
Is that pen stat saying Howard has saved 1 out of 1?
That’s in the league. Those stats were League Two only. Howard saved 1/3 overall. Solihull scored two in the cup.
Seen a few saying it was his best game for us – but it was an awfully low bar.
It was nice to see him actually attempt to take on a man which led to the winning goal. That must be the first time he has tried it this season!
A few stats..
HOWARD
GAMES 10 (W5, D1, L4)
3 CLEAN SHEETS
SHOTS ON TARGET FACED 33
GOALS AGAINST 10
GOALS AGAINST PER GAME 1
PENS SAVES 1/1WATSON
GAMES 7 (W1, D1, L5)
1 CLEAN SHEET
SHOTS ON TARGET FACED 31
GOALS AGAINST 14
GOALS AGAINST PER GAME 2 (Worst in L2)
PEN SAVES 0/3This club makes a habit of getting your hopes up and then kicking you in the cock
Cheers gents, feeling better now!
Either Cox deserves an oscar or he is genuinely pleased about Will’s appointment.
Fun fact. He actually played a friendly or two for the youth team way back when Swann first joined the club. Also appears on the seasonal team photo. Karl Power stylee.
I was disappointed we didn’t do enough attacking wise, want to see Brown and Rowe supporting the wingers more often, the one time Rowe bombed forward we forced a save out of their keeper.
This.
I suspect it will have to be a loan, made permanent in January.
Such sad news. A true legend of English football.
Wasn’t hinting at a sacking. We just never record a podcast in the heat of the moment and (usually) for good reason!
Loft has the lowest completed pass % in the league for an outfield player. 38%. He was great against Port Vale and I had high hopes for him, but since then has been so poor.
There has been a lot of criticism levelled at the club this season, but the thorough approach to COVID testing should be recognised.
They are clearly taking their duty of care to players and staff very seriously and it has to be said, more seriously than large a number of League One/Two clubs.
Other clubs haven’t tested since the mandatory test prior to the season start and are no obligation to do so from the EFL. (Steve Evans admitted this weekend Gillingham haven’t been tested since 48hrs prior to the beginning of the season.)
Credit to Swann for footing the bill for regular testing at £5k a pop, but it does seem as though we are being punished for going above and beyond what the league deem acceptable.
It’s turning into an absolute farce.
Credit where it’s due. Given the circumstances, that’s arguably our best performance this season. Carved out enough opportunities to get something and left to rue missed chances. Unlucky – but plenty of heart shown and a real battling performance. Agree with Les, Manny & the Beest were excellent.
A mention for McAtee too – seemingly in a better frame of mind and much improved. Think we lost momentum when he was subbed. Green also lively and should have given Cox something to think about.
Cant fault Jarvis’ effort as he works hard and puts in a real shift, but he has to do better in front of goal. Has missed big opportunities at crucial times for the last few weeks. Two more today. If those go in and we could be talking about different games.
A couple more definitely on the horizon.
Noted. We will see what we can do!
We’re hopefully recording with Guy Ipoua this week too.
I’d be amazed if we concede less than 3.
Scunthorpe United have told me this is being fully investigated by the club. A spokesperson for the #Iron says they’ll be making no further comment at this stage. #uti https://t.co/HiGAcsWll3

Attempted to offer a balanced view on our start to the season on Humberside SportsTalk last night. You can listen again from 25.34
Fantastic graphic of our passes from the weekend’s game.

Another opposition keeper that didn’t have to make a single save.
Another sloppy goal due to a Hornshaw mistake.
Some decent enough build up but the final ball was absolutely shocking.
Gilliead was the best player on the pitch.
OMalley really promising – but really should have scored.
Loft was poor. Looked tired.
Contrary to some of the above posts, I actually thought Turan looked quite promising, particularly in the first half.
Thought Nige got his summary spot on.I’m actually looking for a new kitchen so will give these guys a call. Who says PR doesn’t work?
Quote Iron Bru for 10% off your quote!
All things considered I thought it was a good effort and important not to lose over 90 minutes.
For what it’s worth I thought we were really good in the first half. We pressed well and carved out a couple of opportunities. I don’t think we were ever going to keep it up for the whole game.
The second half was a struggle and almost attack v defence. Jarvis not up to it just yet on that showing. Don’t think he won a header all night.
A big shame for Green as he looked good – poor challenge on him.
Hippolyte looked strong & useful. Think he will be a decent player when up to speed.
O’Malley should get the nod on Saturday over Butroid IMO.
Watson 6
Butroid 5
Cordner 7
Bedeau 6
Hornshaw 6Gilliead 6
Spence 6
Vincent 8
Eisa 7Colclough 5
Loft 8I’d stick Rowe at RB
Out for 2/3 weeks through injury
Prize pot is £150 – unless we have any late comers.
Thank you for your support! You should get a message saying ‘Predictions saved‘ upon saving the form. You may have to save the League Cup games, then do the EFL Trophy but it should save them all by clicking the one button.
Having checked, I can see your predictions are saved for both rounds of fixtures.
On another note, all players will be entered into a draw to win a copy of Max Bell’s book. Winner announced Saturday…
I.e User guesses Scunthorpe 1-0 Newport
Game ends Scunthorpe 1-3 Newport, 1 pt awarded for correct number of goals Scunthorpe scored.
