Good. Maybe there is hope.
Unfortunately the noises from the likes of Lineker, Shearer (not that I personally care what they say) etc are clearly in favour of the changes. All the premier league clubs voted for it. It needs the majority of premier league fans and probably a fair number from the championship to dissent against the changes as they are the ones with the large social media presence that could force a rethink like when the Super League was proposed.
The EFL and National League clubs can kick off all they like, and I hope they do boycott or whatever extreme it takes, but the FA know the efl clubs need the money and the FA hold the cards.Sounds horrendous, hope the person hit by the ball recovers ok, doesn’t sound good from your description.
I think you’re probably right about the billionaires and Super League. Wouldn’t surprise me if this is their new direction where instead of the big clubs leaving they piss everyone else off so they leave.
They are actually destroying themselves through greed, the whole financial fairplay and points deduction is a farce where nobody knows whose going to be on what points and when and even if next year there might be a different system.I’ve seen statements from Grimsby Town, Tranmere Rovers, Chester City and Marc White the Dorking owner on tv strongly condemning this. Hopefully the rest of the clubs in the leagues come out and condemn this and with a strong enough backlash from fans maybe the decision to scrap replays can be changed.

Pompey police will be busy rounding these up
I think you’re correct Awaywego, there’s nothing in the rules preventing it unless there’s something in the National League Handbook which gets referenced in the rules but I can’t find it online. I reckon they could start selling after Saturday.
I guess the thing is at the moment, as it stands, if Brackley win their last game and we lose at Gloucester and the goal difference is overtaken then we would finish third. Obviously highly unlikely but I can see why the season has to end officially before tickets can be sold.1 user thanked author for this post.
I think Corbett is at football league speed and effort, which stands out a mile in our league. Even watching league 2 highlights on tv looks faster and better finishing than NLN games.
I read those rules, not an easy read.
It seems to me the National League have set a percentage, they describe as “a levy”, which they will take from the net proceeds of the game after all expenses for both clubs (and including the travel and hotel costs for National League board members and officers who attend the match). The remaining proceeds are split 50% each to the 2 clubs.
I can’t find out what amount the levy is but it was agreed prior to the start of the season.
Should be a good earner for the league if it is (as we hope !) at Scunthorpe.Football karma with ref decisions, how it always has been at our levels.
It comes down to this now for Star Wars Day: Beat Blyth Spartans at home and Gloucester away and we finish second whatever the other teams do. Then win 2 home games against 2 from this list of : Brackley, Chorley, South Shields, Alfreton, Curzon, Chester or Boston.
If we can’t win these 4 fixtures then we’ll deservedly stay down another season.
I look at our squad and we should do it. Hopefully the players now understand the officiating, shithouse opposition players, negative tactics and just do a pro job on whoever we face.In his interview with radio humberside after the Southport game, Jimmy Dean said he had a budget meeting this friday. So, JD staying whatever happens perhaps ?
“I can only remember” really means you just had a look at his stats on transfermarkt, doesn’t it? ;)
It means from what I can remember watching the actual games and discussions with my real life, actual Scunthorpe supporter friends and family at the time or afterwards.
The main discussion being around Clunan and Pugh and that we don’t seem to get good results lately with Clunan but don’t seem to lose with Pugh.I’ve given up with National League tv. £9.50 a month would be acceptable but for every game it is rip off for what is provided. It was only about £13 for an actual ticket at Southport (I know there’s transport etc etc).
Stuck with radio jumbleside for away games and that commentator, Alex, hasn’t been too bad and seems to be able to actually pronounce players names reasonably. I enjoy hearing Torpeys various versions of Sembie-Ferris, he seems to have settled on Semble-Ferris for the last couple of games. Better when Ollie Turner does the post match interview, he asks some good questions and there’s some tension between him and Dean.Every game looks the same to me.
Whatever Pugh might appear to be not contributing it feels to me that we don’t lose when he plays. Since January I can only remember South Shields away being a game we lost when Pugh played and he was subbed off halfway through the second half.I know my place !
At least we could still do it mathematically when I was the the thicko !
I won’t pretend to fully understand but I believe numbers in brackets are bad ?
Looks very similar to Scunthorpe Uniteds accounts.1 user thanked author for this post.
They had to stick with Dean once they took over from Hilton. It’s worked on and off, and we should have won this league, I don’t think sacking him when we first started slipping back would have been right and I understand why the board stuck with him, they don’t want to be another Swann sacking managers every 5 minutes. Yes a different manager 3 months ago could have done better, but if they didn’t then the club would be criticised for binning Dean.
Now as we limp into the playoffs (and I think mathematically we could still limp out of them !?) I think Dean needs to get promotion for his own sake or he will have being the manager that couldn’t do it with this squad on his managerial cv.1 user thanked author for this post.
Excellent by Tamworth, they deserve it, took good advantage of our inability to get results.

Least said about today’s Kings Lynn match the better.
Meanwhile Cam Wilson scores and gets man of the match for Scarborough….1 user thanked author for this post.
I’ve now seen all this twitter stuff that is being referenced about the Spennymoor ref.
What a cesspit X is !
The tweet by the club after the result is poor clearly questioning the integrity of the ref- I would say very amateur not what I’d expect from a professional football club.
The responses from a lot of Scunthorpe supporters comes across, at best, as whining and entitled.
There’s someone who has produced a list of ref incidents we have suffered from.
There are others contacting some ref account, I think it’s the ref James mentioned above, and literally trying to get him to block them.
I’m sorry but the Matt Ellis responses don’t look good to me, suggesting there is an agenda against Scunthorpe United.
The whole thing seems to have riled up various rival club fans to either take the piss or tell sufc to get over themselves.
Scunthorpe United are a full time professional club playing in a part time league with a squad of highly paid professional players and when we can’t manage to get a result at Spennymoor start kicking off like spoiled kids who haven’t got their own way and blaming the whole thing on the ref.
Embarrassing.2 users thanked author for this post.
It’s an occupational hazard in what is clearly a thankless task, even the top refs take unnecessary abuse. That lad last night dropped a major clanger I think he was out of his depth, poorly positioned and made a bad guess.
This cesspit league we have sunk into is basically a nursery school for refs. Nobody cares whatsoever about what happens down here, none of us could have cared less a year ago about the refs, shithouse players etc. It was the league we sent young players into to get experience. The only answer is to escape upwards which should be achievable with the players we’ve got.
It’s not over until the fat lady sings
She’s singing !
You are right it is 99% incompetence, by the refs and the system that runs them. The system for promoting refs isn’t working Les. Someone wanting to be a ref in the football league would actually take years just to get to our crappy NLN level even if they more or less got straight promotions every year. That ref last night either never played or dropped out of playing very young to be a ref, result is that he doesn’t really understand what he’s doing. He knows what gets him the marks to get promoted and goes after getting those marks.

Apart from Bishops Stortford, all the teams Tamworth have to play are in with a chance of the play offs except Banbury who are still in with a chance of avoiding relegation. Like Sanfran says we’ve got to keep winning. Title is still there until Tamworth do the necessary business, or we lose a match.
Titles still on for me. I watched kings Lynn v Tamworth yesterday. Usual shite NLN game just like ours. Barrows easily one of the best players on show. 1-1 result. It’s for Tamworth to feck up but they are not any good, just a clean sheet machine. We can win all 6 and keep the pressure on them. Thick as f, deluded maybe, teachers told me that years ago so old news.
League title is still on for us
My deluded hope that Tamworth bottle it and we catch up is still mathematically possible !
He had to go somewhere, when the club is signing a lad on loan from Peterborough who’s played 1 League game, then Wilson knows he isn’t getting a look in.
I like Wilson and hope he has a good loan spell. Who knows it could be a good move if he comes back match fit for the playoffs.2 users thanked author for this post.
