Yes, awaywego, it is inevitable that after a couple of successful seasons Butler will go to a bigger club and we’ll need someone else.
Not really Gurnelista, he had a crack at it, failed and met the cruel reality of professional football. Personally I blame Swann and Hilton.

Yes in house makes more sense. Player coach, Butterfield gets mentioned, maybe Butler knows someone else suitable ?
Oh dear. I seem to remember 64 posting something which suggested he didn’t like Hayes twitter stuff. Football wise Hayes would seem to be a good choice to complement Butler, Iron legend, qualified coach, knows non league and he could work with the forwards etc.
It seems the price of social media is everyone knowing your political beliefs and then judging your professional ability by whether they agree or not.Well done Boston.

Has he actually gone ?
Not that I aren’t behind him he’s our manager now, but I know of 3 others already who are well disappointed not surprised just disappointed.
Can anyone say there exited and optimistic well other than Snot of course impresed i don’t think so.Yes, I’ll say I’m excited and optimistic.

Yes. I find it comforting that almost everything I hear him say, particularly about football and Scunthorpe United, I disagree with.

Good.
All the best Andy.1 user thanked author for this post.
What will be will be was said during the drumroll for Dean leaving, I guess that still stands but hopefully not Sheridan.
Sheridan is surely not an actual possibility ?
Wow, they really mean business don’t they. I was thinking from some of the posts on here and stuff relayed from Facebook and Twitter that they might keep actually keep him.
Big decision but from a football angle after the way the season went it had to be done.
Michelle Harness and the board have definitely made the right choice not renewing his contract.7 users thanked author for this post.
For me, comparing start of the season to the end, most improved was Sembie-Ferris.
Most regressed was Cam Wilson, for the first month of the season he looked good on the left side of the front 3. Did well against Tamworth away, seemed to be making chances in games, won a pen against Peterborough that Whitehall missed and scored that great goal against Scarborough. Somehow he disappeared to be a bit part player and ended up getting loaned to Scarborough (where I believe he did ok again).

All good points Rene, which I agree on. Point m) is worrying but we’ll never know.
But I wouldn’t chuck it in mate if the board decide otherwise.
I think your final paragraphs suggests the club didn’t want to go up to avoid the £100k bonus cost ?
If that is the case, JD is worth keeping as he managed that down to one last kick which was probably harder to do than winning.1 user thanked author for this post.
No, whatever happens with the manager, whether I agree or not, I’ll be going and supporting.
I support Michelle Harness for having the courage and strength to take the club on and save it for us and future generations, so whatever she decides is good enough for me.11 users thanked author for this post.
Gurnelista, I know what you’re saying but I have given Dean unconditional support this season and defended him on here and still said he could turn it around to actually win the league until it was mathematically impossible, then I’ve supported him into this playoff and I really thought we’d have a go at it but we just didn’t.
The fact is if we had fought and challenged our way to second place and gone out on pens, then it would be poor to replace the manager. But, we’ve stumbled along since January, gifted the title to Tamworth then set up to nullify Boston at home in front of an 8,000 crowd. We played 2 hours of football against Boston and couldn’t score a goal.
Dean, in his Humberside interview said losing Smith, Butterfield and Whitehall were reasons for the loss of form in Jan but we had players like Shrimpton, Wilson and Pugh who have done really well loaned out to teams in the same league, we still had Elliott, and when he brought Pugh back he seemed to do well for us then dropped out of favour again. Corbett looked like a good loan signing but he didn’t even make the bench against Boston.
If the board keep Dean I can only see it turning sour if he doesn’t get results.4 users thanked author for this post.
This season was the chance to go up with Hilton’s fantasy league squad. We haven’t taken it and are now in the boat that Stockport and York were so strap in for a long and difficult ride.
Ollie Turner interviewed him for radio humberside. It’s on their bbc sounds if you’ve can get on that. I can’t seem to post a link to it.
If they do it would be a major mistake on their part. Let him walk away finishing second and going out on penalties. One last line drawn under the whole season.

Personally, I’d be happy with Nelson and it would be some story if he came back and did well after what happened.
I started to type my own post mortem of yesterday but what’s the point, I agree with everything already said. There’s a dozen ways yesterday could have been done better but he didn’t do it. Everyone could see what was wrong from the first announcement of the team.
Obviously we won’t be able to afford several of the players from this years squad going forward but, honestly, it is time for a massive clear out.
I’ve tried to support JD as much as possible but it has to be over here for him now. Thanks Jimmy and good luck in the future.3 users thanked author for this post.

What could possibly go wrong….?

I’m not worried about our player’s discipline. Whitehalls red was a joke, should have been a yellow for him and the opposing player. I agree with MK about the Scales and Mcalindens reds.
The turning point of the season for me was probably against Tamworth – Evans taking an elbow in the face right in front of the ref, no action and 10 seconds later Denton gets a red for pulling the Tamworth player down.
I reckon our players have learned the hard way this season and will do a professional job in this playoff.I think Forest were beaten and are clutching at straws in a very vicious way.
Looking at the premier league table, if I was a Luton fan I think Everton v Forest getting a draw would have been my hope to keep both of them in catching distance.
If the Luton supporting var had given 2 penalties from those 3 possibles and it was 2-2 then Forest might have had a reason to cryThe authorities aren’t going to be dictated to by a club over who they do or don’t appoint though, every club will have refs they don’t get on with or blame for losing something or live in a certain area. I get the way it looks but I don’t think the var guy made any wrong calls so it’s sour grapes from Forest.
If I’m wrong (as you know that is quite often) then Atwell will be deeply in the brown stuff and football suffered a fatal blow yesterday.Forest aren’t too happy with VAR, they’re in for a hammering from the authorities.
They certainly are.
Even more pathetic and embarrassing statement by them about a ref than the one Scunthorpe put out after the Spennymoor defeat.
All 3 of the penalty shouts they are crying about weren’t given by the ref and at best they were a 50-50 either way subjective call so the var isn’t going to overturn them or ask the ref to review them.
Clattenburg (paid by Forest !) going even further writing newspaper articles about it.
A ton of bricks in fines, point’s deductions or both will now fall on them, Forests owner taking them down in flames unfortunately.Leave it to the refs, take the wrong decisions against you and moan about them, take the wrong decisions in your favour and cheer. I’d rather that than var any day.

Yes, I believe there is a trophy.
