Stage 6 (Thurs 10th July) a 202km stage from Bayeux to Vire Normandie.

    A difficult stage to call the winner – 6 categorised (1 x 4 & 5 x 3) climbs to ascend on the Normandy flatlands!

Theoretically, there are a few that have the ability to win it; however, the TdF isn’t an individual race, it’s a team event. Teams follow orders, protecting & assisting their team leader or specialist (dependant upon stage) in pursuit of the win.

The mighty POG is now in Yellow (& also polka & green) and has a commanding 42 sec lead over EVENEPOEL and he’s 59 seconds in front of third placed VAUQUELIN.

Bayeux born Kévin Vauquelin (age 24) is going to be highly motivated to win his ‘home’ stage and try to reduce his overall deficit to POG.
The Arkea team comprises 5 French and 3 Spanish riders – they (Arkea) are ‘planning’ on winning a stage, is today the day? If they can get a couple or 3 of their riders in a breakaway group then they may just do it.

Vingegaard & Van der Poel aspire to make a similar move in order to try and claw back some of the time they lost in yesterday’s TT.

However, POG and his merry men will have their spotters, blockers and altruistic domestiques on point to ensure he retains yellow and his time advantages.

It has all the ingredients of a great stage!

    Now I never knew that…

A good day at the office for me today. My guys collected 983 points and moved me up to 77th in the world in the fantasy game.

    I had the 1st, 2nd & 8th placed riders today.

I picked up 96/100 bonus points for my guesstimation of the winning time. I went for 36mins 30secs – the winning time was 36:42… so I lost 0.3 pts per second of difference.

If only 2 of my riders hadn’t being brought down in two separate crashes whilst being serious contenders on day 3 – then I might have been right up there.

    Oh well.

2-0 up, then to lose 2-3… tsk

Yeah, it’s only a ‘friendly’… but there’s no such thing! Players are playing for contracts and to cement their place in the starting X1 for when the season commences.

If we support the manager and the whole team the rest will follow Rene, it sure beats speculation and second guessing.

Absolutely… too much ‘fantasy football’ at times.
Electric, water, gas, telephones etc all need paying – it’s a business at the end of the day… and not that profitable a one either.
We’d be defunct if it wasn’t for the fab four!
    It is what it is.
Let’s stop moaning and support the board, the football staff, the players and the office staff.

You don’t learn anything from winning every game 4-0!

    What did anyone learn tonight?

Not being cynical, condescending or patronising – but, surely an SUFC X1 should beat an App Frod team?

The guy who got two of their goals was an ex-academy player… tsk.

    What happened or didn’t happen?

At the end of the day, we’d all love a Yashin, Banks, Zoff, Shilton, Schmeichel between the sticks.

We are where we are with the staff (players) we’ve got.

How are you going to change it?

Unless you can subsidise a ‘glory keepers’ wages – then you can’t.

    Hence… support the young un!

Ok, I get it. I’d like it too.
However, if you’ve only got X to spend on a keeper… how are you going to fund 4X ?

Are supporters going to put their hands in their pockets and subsidise Keeper4X’s wages?

    Sustainability.

We need to ensure all historic debts are cleared.
We need to increase attendances to increase budget.

The best of luck to Cam Norrie this afternoon.

Being a Newcastle United supporter I can’t see us converting him.

However, Alcaraz has amassed £30M by the age of just 22 – I wonder if he’d like to purchase an English football club.

What would the entire entity including the stadium & training pitch & car parks cost him?

    Dear Carlos

I’m guessing he fits the budget?

    Goalkeeper budget = X

Is a 2X keeper twice as good as an X keeper?

Is a 4X keeper four times better than an X keeper.

If we could have afforded to keep the National Leagues Keeper of the year then I’m sure we’d have made every effort to do so?

Stage 3 finished a short while ago. It ended with Merlier pipping Milan in a photo finish – winning ‘distance’, probably a centimetre; two at most.

Yesterday’s yellow jersey, who was today wearing the green jersey (top sprinter) was wiped out by a couple of muppets who were trying to make a name for themselves at the intermediate sprint.

Philipsen suffered a suspected broken collar bone in the crash and is now out of the Tour.

There was another crash with about 3.5km to go and a third one on the final turn in to the finishing straight.

So, I lost Philipsen in the first crash and another of my riders, Remco Evenepoel was brought down in the second crash.

A low scoring points day for me today in the ‘fantasy tour’ due to the carnage.

I’ve dropped down to 1,056 in the world from yesterday’s ranking of 196 in the world.

A disaster of a day for me.

Wishing Jasper Philipsen a speedy & complete recovery. He must be absolutely gutted – as he looked to be on fire and a massive contender this year.

Non League Paper – 16th June

Who Are The Favourites to Go Up from the 2025/2026 National League?

    Scunthorpe
Newcomers, Scunthorpe, are perhaps the most surprising name on the list, as they’ll be making their return to the league after a 3-year stint in the National League North.

However, the odds suggest they may have a chance of pulling an underdog story and making it through to promotion on their first try. With a 10/1 chance of upsetting the big boys, it won’t be lost on the fans and players what they stand to gain if they can pull a rabbit out of the hat.

    did I miss something?

We can’t play on our pitch yet which massively hinders due to us delaying the repair work for that stupid music event which we made no profit on.

Do we now know that we didn’t make any profit from it? I’ve not looked for any info about it tbh.
