Can we catch Tamworth or will we set another new attendance record in the play off finals?
That question needs to be asked of the players in a group Q & A.
Certainly have to show up today, future gates will be affected by how interested they are. Have said before not always about the win but the attitude shown if beaten ! No matter who the opponent was The IRON used to fight, that has to return starting TODAY.

Always want the IRON to win but if we lost I expect the team to have fought for everything .

The Management must grasp this chance to get back on the promotion track. A win with entertainment will motivate some previous stayaways to rekindle their enthusiasm which will boost revenue and give the board a bit more breathing space.
Players have to turn up 2moro.

Echo others. Get well soon Staffy. Hope they have a stand in for him on saturday saying in dulcet tones “Draw tickets ! ” .
Will be a big gate so players need to step forward and send a card that say “Three points Staffy – hope that is ok”
Approaching that time of the season when outs and ins become conversations all of their own. But the person in charge next season has to be involved. Then you throw in the board statement that wages will not be as generous as last season it becomes even more important.
From 2024 – 2025 we need forward thinking not only that season but going forward and as genuine as JD may be I do not think he fits the brief.
ps: Wilson could be the square peg. For 2 years in the academy was right wing who loved to cut left and on several occasions scored game changing goals. Just don’t think JD’s system helps him or us.
Would have preferred Poulter had been kept here and actually develop our own. Just don’t understand what has gone wrong with Cam Wilson.
Said previously that a knowledgeable writer of both NL and NLN said our recruitment was creating the automatic League Champions. So what has gone wrong with so many of these recruits ?
It isn’t losses that are the problem. It is the nature of it. Fight for everything and lose then you gave it all, but if you see players not 100% then gates will fall.

Felt sorry for him. He looked lost last night. Hilton sent him up for sure.

Cannot afford to pay anyone one off unless some benefactor steps forward !
Anyone coming in would have to be at no cost – we could not afford unless that kind benefactor stepped in again.
While still possible it is STILL possible. Do I think JD can do it – no and haven’t been convinced from day 1. I think Hilton knew exactly why he hired him.

A win tonite is a must. Targeting has to stop now and not reappear.
I think Dean’s contract is up at the end of the season.
You’re correct, he has though requested an extension to that contract.
The board have said that all new contracts offered will be at reduced terms. Going to be interesting and one would imagine they may be lower still if we stay in NLN !
Will always go IRON win but with JD no one is optimistic these days. If he does not alter his negativity the gates will start to fall.

I feel sorry for JD. I don’t think he was brought in to succeed. Where we are is more luck than design.
Someone who knows a lot about the non-league scene watched and commented as we recruited and built the squad. He couldn’t believe it. Said “Give Scunthorpe the league trophy now” . I think JD has over achieved but needs to admit it and step away.
Gardening leave. Appoint temp from within until season end. Chester closing the gap quickly and we aren’t closing it on Tamworth.
WonderGoals – I wonder if Cam Wilson also on the out on loan list. Feel sorry for Finn. Had played well then had a couple of below par games and he goes into the wastelands. Yet peoples comments about some others regularly selected suggests they have consistently underperformed and yet still get selected.
Going to be interesting as to who goes out.
Accidents happen.
Mr Greening also a very good academy coach. Saw him in charge of a team playing our U18’s a few years ago. Educating his players and taking no bad attitudes from any of them they did not answer back twice !
He was impressive.

Could Nelson be tempted back, or has that ship well and truly sailed?
Thought Hilton treated him appallingly. At one point when he was in charge he was driving from & to nr Hartlepool every day, then someone sorted out accom for about 4 days.
Was just sorting it which is why he had to go. To get him back would I think take a 3 year deal and in todays game that at this level is a long time and for a club recovering from near financial oblivion a massive gamble.
When Hilton recruited him I believe he knew at what level he was capable of coaching and failure was all in the grand plan. Collapse of club to follow. NLN is I think his level.
Nelson should have stayed but we are where we are. The new board have had a colossal task dealing with the financial mess to sort out and I would think they did not want this situation becoming a big worry. But it does appear we do not want to lose more than want to win.
Very brave of Cam.Wilson attending the Trust AGM after the events at Blyth the night before. Best of luck to the lad. Remember, a man who makes no mistakes makes nothing. UTWI
But what did the other defenders do to deal with what happened ? Certainly the left back was left wanting committed himself instead of holding him out. So Cam not solely responsible.
Question I have is why didn’t the referee red card the Blyth player who lost the ball to Scales when the goal should have stood. After the ball crossed the line he took at kick out at Scales ankle – it looked a nasty one as well.
No point! If he’s on the right and gets crosses in it’s unlikely an Iron player will win the header. If he’s on the left and cuts inside to shoot we’ve much more chance of a goal IMO.
During his academy days he was more right sided and scored some very good goals cutting in and shooting with his left.

Already revealed a playing budget has been decided. As to who spends it we will have to wait as the board have many decisions to make as they continue dealing with a debt mountain, although it sounds like a huge amount has been dealt with that could remove the transfer embargo.
Any managerial appointment must have the ability to rebuild the playing side for the long term future while 100% focused on the league the 1st team are in.
442, passes forward and better passing. Square pegs in square holes. And if Wilson comes off the bench put him on the right.

Wonder Goals – I hear some people have stepped forward and helped a little bit more than many are able, and thank you to them. Yes the board have had a mountain to climb and brought everyone together.
This unity was always possible and a brighter more sensible future is on the horizon but the old ways must never return.
ps: Remember every £1.50 pen sold helps, so in the shop treat yourself, family or a friend – everything helps.

The Management duo are also out of contract at the end of this season.
As regards future recruitment the person appointed manager for 2024/2025 should be involved.
Does anybody know who is OOC this summer? Would be interesting to see who and how many ?
Known Out of Contract are EVANS, BOYCE, BARROWS, DENTON, OGLE, BUTTERFIELD, PUGH, CLUNAN, BEESTIN, SCALES, WILSON, BENNETT.
Carver isn’t listed and there are several with that item of information missing.
Might be other factors behind the scenes as mentioned by a few posters.
What are posters hinting could be wrong behind the scenes ?
The Cost cutting has started, two members of the back room staff have gone(Confirmed), players told they’re up for sale?
Of course the cost cutting has started, what did you expect ? Chronic over spending due to poor leadership is what has put us where we are and it has to be reversed.
The comment re players up for sale, you look around from the premier league any player has a price – Ivan Toney is for sale.
If Butterfield was ill why was he on the bench ?
