Where they do the interviews is an echo chamber, the interview rambled.

Basically they will all be fit – well those here will be pending 2 offers to be accepted or rejected. Certainly JD was repetitive, blamed the same things every time. Did feel sorry for him, was obviously out of his depth.

Just listened to Mr Butler 20 min interview. Could have been done in 7 minutes.

Going to do something like this then make it interesting.

The club announced that John will leave the Attis Arena for the last time at 10.20am on Monday 10th of June. Followed by the family returning to the ground for the wake after the service.

A good player with a 2 year deal that will start to establish stability in player turnover. CBs need that competitive edge re the red cards. Then you add Ross Barrows staying and a settled defence for season start is promising.

Next recruits will flesh out the bones.

Tamworth didn’t have a Butterfield did they ?

Need players able to finish games and able to be selected 2 days later. And that would fit with Andy Butlers statement that players will be much fitter.

Says 65% pay cut but what is 100% ?

Got to tell all the figures if you are accusing the club. Substantial cuts were warned before season end.
No alternative for me need to get the debt as near zero as possible.

If they go then they go. Can’t put the club at risk so early when so much great work has been done to reduce the debt mountain.

Was offered new terms and obviously Oldham have offered better terms and perhaps several others were between Oldham and us.

Budget had to come down before we are able to move forward from a base of strength.

Perhaps they are doing something else at the moment and the announcement will follow when that is completed.

I am sure Michelle and the board will do something. I believe he said he had followed the club since he was 10, sadly we know he passed aged 75, therefore John the club historian is part of the history of the club which is approaching 125 years old.

Thanks to everyone for sharing memories both on here and X. I’m sure his family will shed a tear at how well he was thought of by one and all. A complete one of a kind gentleman and legend.

I think John would have been surprised at how many people remember all his efforts for HIS team. For those who want to know a bit more about the club his books may still be available.

Well the research has been done so perhaps someone may think of maintaining the history of the club, I think he would appreciate that.

Still do not understand how someone spends £11m can then ask for the £11M back when he it was he who loaned the club the money that he then spent having loaned HIMSELF the money and did so with seeking advice as to how risky the whole thing was !!

Next season the first home game will be so strange, the shout “Draw Tickets, Half Time Draw Tickets” will only be in the memories.

You can replace players but how do you replace Scunthorpe Uniteds own ‘STAFFY’. He will never be forgotten, he is in the fabric of the club. The only plus in this is that he would be pleased at who now runs HIS club, that his club would be safe. His books told you what you needed to know about Scunthorpe United and its history and I think that series of articles in the programme regarding ex players in the 1st and 2nd World Wars are superb and emotional regarding their sacrifices. Wonder if anyone has looked at compiling them into a small book.

My sympathy to Christine and the boys. It was a pleasure knowing John and enjoyed all the chats we had over the seasons in the East Stand. God Bless Mr Claret & Blue. RIP.

Worst manager? We’ve looked at this before.
Cox, Rooks and Bradley fighting for the honour. In fairness though, all three were badly lacking in proper resources.

With Ron Bradley didn’t his attention drift some what !! When I helped paint some bits of the ground I met Mr Bradley, he was very pleasant to chat too. Actually saw the new strip that ‘never was’, I think it was used in only 1 friendly and he wasn’t here much longer.

Cox and Rooks no argument. With JD Hilton knew exactly what he was capable of, why he accepted the job I will never understand. Keith Hill goes down as one of the biggest failures.

Contract offers should be for 21 days only to guarantee the terms offered.

Our management need to have their squad assembled as soon as possible.

Went down the other day and thought the volunteers have done a cracking job tbh.

It’s to Peter Swann’s embarrassment that he allowed to run it down to such a state after pumping X amount of millions in over the years and supposedly being a hospitality expert.

Paint job looks spot on. Wait until the solar panelling is on, Cliff. The stadium will be positively space age !. I can’t quite believe the stadium is going to look the best it’s looked since it was freshly built, after nearly going out of business.

Crazy really. The speed of progression is staggering.

And what a broom. The fans are buying into the project of club sustainability and looking forward to the fjuture.

Those regularly injured should have gone. We cannot afford them and why I would have kept Tom Pugh.

Some players will come here as their 1st choice at the moment we are a better prospect for league success. That is why our attitude in all games from 1st friendly to last league must be to WIN. No setting up to cope with others, go at opponents from 1st whistle.

Being saying for over a decade – ‘The fans want to be involved’. But Mr Swan actually said at a forum turn up, buy a pie and a pint watch the football and then go home’ !!

Now Michelle and the Board want the fans to really be a part of the club and look at the difference. The only thing the fans want is to see THEIR club fighting back and them being wanted. Perhaps money is short for some but they have spare time now and again. Offer them a paint brush or soapy water to wash the seats – they will be there.

And got any ideas then send them into the club you never know they may have overlooked something similar.

Poulter liked some others probably demoralized. Pugh a better squad player than such as Beestin and Alf did seem more injured than Tom.

Tom Pugh will do fine and hopefully Hereford will move quickly because his influence was immediate when they signed him.

A great podcast and I hope the season starts with 1/ An attack minded approach with 2 up top the majority of time. I also expect the teams instructions to be too win ALL games. No targeting, No tip tap passing and the basics being greatly improved – can’t pass a ball then you do not played.

Enjoy the rest. And thank you to Iron Bru.

Until we find out we are all wrong or fortuitously correct we can have a guess.

So what about a 41 yr old. Midfield/attacker, played in all English Leagues, done his coaching badges, worked at several levels of academy football and managed in div 2.

And the kitman – ‘Cheesy’ ?
    May I introduce ‘The Postman’.

A raffle rather than an auction might be a fairer option, otherwise the bidding price will quickly put it out of reach of a lot of people.

    Good idea Ferrite.
