What will he do in the next 7 to 14 days when we are NOT TOP???
He’s going to have nothing to hide behind and at that point I think the screw turns!!
Andy, Stick to 5 at the back and see where that gets you Because you are messing up the best chance you’ll be given in football (after playing of course)!
No one wants failure but people are getting frustrated with the lack of accountability and acceptance that this isn’t working!!!October 6, 2024 at 6:53 am #291641What exactly has gone wrong ? What is the solution?
October 6, 2024 at 7:28 am #29164342
42 is the solution.
Rainbows are produced at an angle of 42° from the direction of the light source.
Uniquely you can partition the number 10 forty two times.
The Sun will orbit the Milky Way 42 times before catastrophically transforming into a red giant.
The universe is expanding at a rate of 42 miles per-second, per-megaparsec.
42GHz is the resonant frequency of human DNA.
42 is the answer to the Ultimate Question of Life, the Universe, and Everything! The Deep Thought supercomputer gave us the answer!
More reasons why the solution is … 42

Exactly & absolutely!
Unless you wanted to go direct and really shake things up
4-2-4 … two big, strong, mobile lads in the middle, two mid-wing-forwards who drop when out of possession.
Attack, attack, attack!
I’d rather lose trying to win than win trying not to lose!
October 6, 2024 at 9:12 am #291649Nah, at least two of OP stats are wrong.
DNA resonates at 40 not 42 GHz

Galactic orbits? The estimate is 20-22 not 42.
The Sun is expected to become a red giant in about 5 billion years. Since one galactic year (the time it takes for the Sun to orbit the Milky Way) is roughly 225 to 250 million years, the Sun will complete about 20 to 22 galactic years before it transforms into a red giant.

But 42 makes a good answer to any question about Brexit!

How can you get life from non-life?

Estimates vary between 4 and 8 million before it becomes a RD. However our galaxy and Andromeda are set to start to collide in about 4 to 4 1/2 million years – I’m guessing the two galaxies will merge and be reconfigured as a ‘super galaxy’?
Apparently the final ‘merging’ will occur in 9 billion years time?

Brexit? Were you for or against? I have no idea but I’m guessing remain?
October 6, 2024 at 12:33 pm #291668For the avoidence of doubt – I do not want Butler out. However I do want him to learn. He insists that his system is working and seems determined to continue its use. His view that “We are top of the league” justifies his opinion, the last 4 games don’t.
1.” We weren’t on our game, we were off the pace, we lost concentration, we weren’t good enough” etc is OK occasionally but not after every game.
2. His preferred starting 11 is almost exclusively last seasons team. Rowley and Grogan were playing a league higher but don’t often start, have either yet played a full league game? Were they not Butler’s choice?
3. We have 3 FBs but no WBs, if you have FBs use them, if you want WBs get some.
4. Some of the players are not good enough, some have time, others might have peaked and some need moving out either temporarily or permanently.
5. He talks about changing tactics during the game but subs seem to be mainly like for like (JD style) unless it’s a MF on for a striker to protect a 1 goal lead. (How well that works)
6. Players switch off when 1 up, under instruction or they think they’ve done enough?
7.Squad is poorly balanced, too many MFs but we’re still lacking in that vital area. Too few fit strikers, another area lacking sufficient quality.
Change what you can Andy and persuade others to change what you can’t. (Quickly or your TOTL excuse will have disappeared.6 users thanked author for this post.

Nb – in one of my posts I mentioned millions of years when I obviously meant billions of years.October 6, 2024 at 3:54 pm #291685I stopped listening to post match chit chat from the ‘managers’ a good while ago.
They are all scared stiff of losing and all trot out the same turgid, lame, tired excuses. They are all as dull as dishwater and as predictable as gravity.October 6, 2024 at 3:59 pm #291686There is only so much that can be said about a game afterwards and most clubs have over 50 games a season with managers or assistants making after match comments on them all. One thing for sure is I haven’t heard many after match comments from managers or staff etc where they publicly shoot themselves or the club in the foot just because a few opinions on a local club forum demand change. It’s not how the real world works and change, if needed, will come eventually anyway.

I don’t mind repetitive after match interviews as long as it’s along the lines of:-
A good win, plans carried out to perfection.
We could have scored a couple more but I’m happy with 5.
That’s the best we’ve played all season and there’s more to come.
We’re top of the league by X points, one more than last week.
Rather than the depressing, self justification that we’re getting following another dire performance.1 user thanked author for this post.
October 6, 2024 at 5:16 pm #291695Thought Jimmy D’s were purgatory towards the end. Usually Mr Butler says they will have a lot to look at ! Got to the point don’t listen to them.
A few managers back the then incumbent knew we would not be relegated. He had the opportunity to play entertaining football for the last 6 matches yet opted to bore the fans with 352 and lose matches – as a result the gates fell. The next season they did not return. This club has had some of the most fickle of fans, if someones attitude does not change some of those who have returned to help the club will have a rethink.

October 6, 2024 at 7:34 pm #291707We fans are playing our part in supporting our Club but my patience with Andy Butler and his after match interviews is now running out. He accepts no responsibility for yesterday’s result but in my opinion it was solely his doing that cost us the win. He says he is not willing to change the system that worked. Well Andy playing SIX DEFENDERS, that includes him insisting playing Michael Clinan so deep just in front of the three centre backs, IT ISNT WORKING NOW. Teams and their managers have realised we are a defensive team playing not to lose and come to attack us at the Attis. Yesterday we were an embarrassment and I am sure our players must be feeling disillusioned too. ITS SIMPLY NOT WORKING.

October 6, 2024 at 8:01 pm #291710He’s never interviewed well. First the mumbling (‘Media training required for Butler’ thread) and now he’s learnt how to annunciate his words SLIGHTLY, but seems like all that comes out is hot air, feeble excuses and incessant reminders of our standing in the league. He doesn’t actually answer any questions directly, just a lot of waffle, nervous pauses and fumbling of words. Oh and not forgetting the exaggerated ‘BUT’ followed by a lengthy pause and yet another reminder that we are top of the league. The inaudible mumbling was more inspiring. Perhaps time for Schofield to start taking the lead on the media front (and the football front?).
October 6, 2024 at 8:25 pm #291711Nah… Schofield is the last of the dinosaurs!

October 7, 2024 at 5:34 pm #291735Just wondering. How many think that we’ll get, more or less, the same amount of points in the next ten games as in the first ten?
Personally, I’d be pretty happy with 15.October 7, 2024 at 6:09 pm #291739Depends if we bring in a few new loanees or not and if they can make a difference
October 7, 2024 at 6:34 pm #291744Once Carlton, Brogan, Kouogun are all available with Beestin/Whitehall hopefully not breaking we will be fine.
Having Kelly/Shrimpton/Fishburn coming on ain’t going to help!
October 7, 2024 at 8:37 pm #291748I think that just emphasises the need for a few more players of decent quality
