Agree with giving game time to a few, but 7 is too many
September 14, 2024 at 7:22 pm #290870How many would have not travelled if they knew he was changing 7 players ?
For decades this club has some of the most fickle fans, I don’t know why but we do. So after all the recent trauma people have been working together and gates are on the up, So why put it at risk ? A cup run is vital, you play your strongest team and get the job done. Want to do 7 changes then arrange a kickabout.

September 14, 2024 at 8:15 pm #290871Money from today? They’ll be no money from today, after they’ve paid the refs , stewards, police and the bus, deluded to think anything else.
September 14, 2024 at 8:24 pm #290872Butler has said that our substitutes don’t weaken the team. Today makes me disagree, did any of the’changes’ make a case for a league start? Not IMO, were there just too many ‘substitutes’?

September 14, 2024 at 9:21 pm #290874I don’t it was meant for today (in terms of money in the kitty) but a mini cup run brings in much needed money, can create a buzz around town, if we can progress into the proper rounds then the press/media may pick up on our achievement (how much did Maidstone get last year?). Just get to third round get a relatively large club, that’ll do.
September 14, 2024 at 9:33 pm #290875Compared to getting out of this league making a few quid out of a cup run is an irrelevance and probably would end up being a distraction.
Butler picked exactly the right team today to give players minutes who are an injury or a suspension away from being needed in games that really matter. He probably hoped a team with 7 back up players would have enough to see off a side 2 divisions below us and I suspect he is quietly furious that they were not up to the task today.
I would put the same 11 out to start on Tuesday.
Thankfully Scarborough suffered a similar fate today so now face a tricky away game Tuesday.

How many were away supporters?
I’d have thought more home supporters would have shown up?
Their home attendances are consistently below 130, in the previous round it was 126. I’d have expected a larger home turnout to see a game Vs the highest ranked team in this round.

Scarborough were away today, their replay on Tuesday is at home
September 14, 2024 at 10:35 pm #29087915 quid is a bit of a piss take for the replay, with a few premier league teams on the Box it’ll only be the hardcore down at GP Tuesday.

I couldn’t go today but can go on Tuesday night so looking forward to the replay.September 14, 2024 at 10:41 pm #290881Jeez, why does it have to be rather have this than this…. why can’t we want both, like we’re not allowed a cup run and promotion, yes if it’s a binary choice of course promotion is number one but do we have to discount a cup run because we not allowed to have or wish for both. We concentrated on the league last year after the embarrassing exit, that worked well.

Apologies senior moment.
Ironawe not saying every match doesn’t matter but we’re not going to win the FA Cup. The team we had out today, had they played well we’re good enough to beat a team from 2 leagues below. Those 7 players that don’t normally start need games which it sounds like they demonstrated by their performance today.

Aye but the point being made was they have an extra game too before we meet next Saturday, sort of evens up the game time played by both squads. Hopefully we win in 90 minutes on Tuesday and Scarborough go to extra time then lose on pens, might as well really piss them off before we go there and win.

Local lads with a dream, hope and a possible football future at their local club.

Both strikers looked ok and caused us a few problems with intelligent runs on the break. Tom Jones looked a tidy player for them.

That’s not unusual.

Att: 3,647September 15, 2024 at 2:19 pm #290898Way off Rene the club don’t seem to expecting that many they’ve closed the Mortz stand.
Not surprised though.Club targeting single punters dropped the price for them, costing me and families more than for a league game 1 senior 2 kids, From being free for kids under 12 last season they now want £5 each wtf.
So thats massive inflation busting season ticket prices 1
A lottery that still only pays a £250 pound jackpot 2
Changing the 50/50 draw into a draw with a total prize fund of £500. 3
And now added costs for families at the fa cup games. 4
Scunthorpe United the club that keep on giving lol.September 15, 2024 at 2:23 pm #290899I can see. 2-0 win but I can’t see anymore than 2,500 there, one stand is shut so they must know it’s going to be quite low. I’ll say 2,270
September 15, 2024 at 2:57 pm #290900Think anything close to 2,000 is a result.
You would hope whatever team Butler puts out should be good enough to get a result on the pitch.

Possibly down to the FA rules rather than the club’s decision?

September 15, 2024 at 3:19 pm #290902Would be surprised if there were more than 2k there Tuesday.
Jeez, why does it have to be rather have this than this…. why can’t we want both, like we’re not allowed a cup run and promotion, yes if it’s a binary choice of course promotion is number one but do we have to discount a cup run because we not allowed to have or wish for both. Agreed, no reason we can’t have a good run in the cup and still do well in the league. Seems to be an attitude that has filtered its way down from the premier league.

September 15, 2024 at 3:37 pm #290903I think we’ll win on Tuesday night. 90 minutes hard work by the Newcastle players on Saturday and then most of them will be at work doing real jobs on Monday and Tuesday.
I hope we do get a bit of cup run, but I don’t see the changes Butler made on Saturday as disrespect to the cup or Newcastle town, any combination of our squad should have been capable of a win there and it made sense to rest some players for such a game. Glanford Park on Tuesday night they will put it right. If people would rather watch champions league or Man Utd on telly, or think the gate price is too expensive then don’t go, it’s that simple.1 user thanked author for this post.
