Hallam, Kenyon and Davies on the bench.
    Bunn fit to start.
    Where’s Wood and Scrimshaw?
    Loft benched.

    Interesting.

    Scored 5 against FG?
Sounds like they’ve used up their quota for 2021.

There were ‘different issues’ over Vardy’.
The ‘no better than …’ was to disguise the ‘why’ we were not interested.
Sorry. I know more but am unable to reveal them.

And Halifax will allow him to join us without a fee!

“as for my ” bloody dropout illegal boat invaders” if I had my way I would puncture them mid crossing”.

Surely you can disapprove of what is happening in The Channel, AWG, and demand overdue government action without wishing people dead!
(Perhaps you might even advocate the Aussie approach which refuses to surrender to moral blackmail – at least that puts you rather closer to the moral high ground.)

This could be great news for us but only if there is some ‘new talent’ arriving in January. If there isn’t – all we have to be grateful for is the extra time to get players fit. But still …

The chairman has got it right by bringing in Keith Hill now let’s see evidence that he will follow that up with allowing the manager a squad shakeup – outs as well as ins.

Three games to try to keep our heads above water … and then?

We don’t have too great a history on making January improvements but we are not aiming for much more than a handful of additions who are effective and reliable.

The same Juryeff who was a shade under a goal every three games for us?

Have to agree with that last paragraph. I might think of some very poor forward lines back in the re-election days which could match what we have at present.

It looks like we are down to just one CB in these last few games before January.
It may be Taft down – but this really is the time to start worrying.

It’s not really an issue about points tallies. All we have to do is gain more points than three or four of the other bottom teams.
If we fail and better just two – the likelihood of survival is still extremely high.

    Jai Rowe. Some real promise.
    IMHO, Jarvo outperformed Loft.
Hippo looks like a real find. Can be better than Eisa -contributes more.
Beestin had a good game as did Onariase.
My feelings about Millen are distinctly mixed.

What happened to Taft? – Injury or simply subbed?
    Where is Perry?
News on Kenyon, Davies and Hallam?

Bunn got some useful minutes under his belt.
    GK did well – again.
Gallimore did not look out of place.

And – what Cass just said!

    Loft & Jarvo up front.
    Must be 4 – 4 – 2

    Taft was really mediocre.
(Somebody said Green played. Is this true?)
There was so much to like though:
    Good goalkeeping.
We were fitter than they were – when was the last time that was the case?
    The organisation was better.
    Passing was better.
Movement off the ball was better.
    Hippo was clear MOTM.
    Everybody grafted.

Yes, IA – it was a 1970s ugly spectacle but an occasional supporter with me was actually quite impressed.

I was pleased as we can see the effects Hill is having. A few signings for the spine and we will surely be okay.

Interesting how many loanees he is playing in the starting 11.

    Looks like a 4 – 5 – 1 to me.

No Perry. No Kenyon. No Bunn. No Hallam.

Who is Lewis? – Is that Thompson, perhaps?

You can see some really good things in Loft’s game but they are outnumbered by an array of basics which don’t pass muster.
On the subject of passing – he gifts possession more than any player in the squad; he’s a big guy who doesn’t use his frame – but is prepared to foul as an alternative; his finding of space is average and his heading is much less than you’d expect from a centre forward.
Given time, I’d lay odds that Hill would improve him but we haven’t got time to play with.
If the offer can be resurrected – let him go.

I very much doubt that it’s Hallam’s fault that he’s always injured.
Sometimes life gives you bad spells.
(Over a pretty short period, I’ve had six cousins die – most significantly younger than me!)

In order to obviate the need for all of the inevitable speculation by fans about players who cannot be available, the time has surely come for the club to adopt a more pragmatic attitude.
A weekly announcement about: which players are ill or injured; the nature of the problem – if at all reasonably possible; when they are expected to be back in full training; how long they may be before being available for first team duty.
It would put to bed the myriads of conspiracy theories and it is only fair for the paying public to be permitted an overview at their club.

There is a class player in there but under Cox, we hadn’t been seeing it.

    Thoughts:
We are improving game by game. We are clearly fitter – and by a considerable margin.
Tactics are sensible – and what an improvement that is!
Players who showed little intelligence look like their brains are in gear.

Four weeks ago – we’d have lost both these games.

Best headed goal I’ve seen in aeons from an Iron player and Jarvo was oh-so-close to a second.

Great performance from Hippo; some nice bits of class from Perry; Beestin improving. All this against a backcloth of better understanding between midfield and defence. (Hill likes Beestin!)

Turnbull made Jarvo man of the match.

I think Millen gets into the side more for his angled crosses than for his defending. Thompson was decent and Taft much better than of late. How many cards has Manny had? – I really don’t fancy going into any match with Taft as our only CB.

As long as we move forwards from this point

Would love to see a couple more postponements – though not enough to clog the fixture list, of course.

    Yup.
I came on here just to mention that very penalty. Really hammered it into the GK’s top corner – the hardest struck penalty of its type I’ve ever seen and I was right in line as it missed the woodwork by a centimetre all round.

Best CB I’ve seen for the Iron and Burkinshaw was a great foil for him.

The idea that it’s gonna be impossible to sign decent players in January is wrong.
A fair number on here were claiming that no self-respecting manager would ever come here if Cox were sacked. Well – we have brought in as good as we could have hoped. Better even.
    They were wrong.
It is far more serious for a manager to take on the job than it is for a player who is out of favour to sign til the end of the season at a failing club. Yes the target pool will reduce but the players to get us out of trouble are available.

Far more of a worry is if our position worsens over the next seven games. We are still in reach at the moment but if we were, say, 6 points adrift of safety – then it’ll become harder.
Seven games. Two wins, three defeats and 2 draws would probably keep us in touch long enough to stand some chance of putting a number of things right at the very start of January.

How could there be any argument about having him on the bench?

Say, we are cruising along at 3 – 0 he could be introduced and tried out.
In the rather lesser likely scenario that we are trailing by one goal and we are making no progress – again he could be given a chance.

I agree with others that there is perhaps something here which we either don’t see or that we are not being allowed to see.

‘The lad’s undercooked. He’s not ready yet,’ completely contradicts what we witnessed with our own eyes in pre-season.
