Has anyone been to spy on the training pitch this morning?
He was better then than now.
I’ve said it before – his passing skills are special.
His problem is that, like so many, he’s not capable of raising his game above the levels of those surrounding him.
Playing off a Bish – he’d have the requisite skills to make a big difference.
He needs games to toughen up. (Not whilst we face relegation, though.)1 user thanked author for this post.
Do you get older than 35?
Wood was puzzling.
Had Cox ruined him?
There was a great deal of good stuff from the lad – though two or three possessions were lost in important positions.
There is something to build on. He actually made more difference to the game than Hackney tends to.1 user thanked author for this post.
There are certainly some Covid issues.

Barrie. If you are prepared to drive over to Sheffield when I’m in the UK, I’ve hundreds of Iron programmes I’m prepared to donate to help either charity.
(A fair few have team changes written on but many are pristine.)
Matt has my contact details.
If interested, I’ll do a count up and a sort.Regards,
Les.
Someone argued Perry should go a month or two ago and I defended the lad.
Recent form looks like the after effects of Covid as a possibility, I suspect.Perry is a long way from match fit.
A poor first game back and another rising to the dizzy heights of mediocrity, tonight.
He’s better than this.1 user thanked author for this post.
Feeney – the journo?
On a different tack – why does Hippo never take long throws anymore?
I’m sure he’s trainable not to stick his lead foot over the sideline.Harsh.
A lot of inexperience and callow youth, yes, but most of their problems are that they have zero leadership on the pitch. It’s like a young person arriving to begin an apprenticeship in a cabinet maker’s workshop who is told to ‘Get on with it. Make a cabinet. And be sure it’s a good one.’

Apparently, “he holds the ball up really well.”
It probably won’t happen then!A personal friend of one of my sons is a top libel lawyer and consequently, I do know a little more about the subject than the average dude in the street.
I have seen a number of personal attacks on here which would surely be warranting a libel suit.
I’m assuming that none has been issued.I am wondering why this is the case. Is the evidence stacked so highly against the chairman that he dare not take that route? – I have no idea.
Thoughts?

One forward MUST be a back-to-goal player. As long as they are getting others into shooting positions …
Making the books balance as the only objective is bonkers.

As I recall it, the Cod ‘ed responded violently to a strong tackle by Welbourne.
From where I was (side of pitch) it just looked like a fairly heavy tackle and, in those days, I did not really expect a free kick.
Welbourne was then thumped. As I saw the overall, a legit tackle was made. Let’s assume I didn’t quite see it all from my angle – it was not a booking level challenge and surely not a sending off, IMHO.
I remember my comments to those not there that he got an 8 week ban for being violently assaulted.
I suspect that the ref was conscious (does that sometimes happen?) that it was a derby match and was trying to show an artificial even-handedness.
Anyone have a clearer view than that?
Ratbone started it.
Only thing is – the 70s now really do look so much better than what we currently have.

Taft is getting back to form. Manny is pretty solid. Davies is lacking.
A strong CB is a MUST. No squad can afford to have only two and a half CBs – and Rowe is barely another half even if we are desperate.
Let’s not worry too much about FBs.Max wrote well.
I was also really impressed with what Keith Hill wrote on the Iron website.
1) There are people you mistrust.
2) There are those whom you hope you can trust.
3) There’s the the ones where you want to give them a chance.
4) There are some you trust – but with a few reservations.
5) There are people you are prepared to trust. For me:
Keith Hill is a 5.
Neil Cox arrived as 3 and ended as a 1.
The Chairman arrived as a combined 2 and 3 and is now a 1.4 users thanked author for this post.
CB, real leader in CM + two forwards.
ALL must be experienced and fit.2 users thanked author for this post.
We are a matter of days from self-destruction.
I wonder if NOW might be an appropriate time?It is the job of club boards to manage budgets efficiently – and that does not mean to spend extravagantly and then slam on the brakes so hard that the tyres don’t just burn away but all the wheels come off too.
This is NOT the fault of the fans!

(Mind you, I did reckon that UTI99 was being just a tad tongue-in-cheek.)
1981–1982 Scunthorpe United 42 (7)
1982–1985 Worcester City 213 (105)Not a bad record for a midfielder. I always rated him and was sad to see Paul Moss depart.
We’d rather like having anybody who could score one in six, these days. There must be a point to be made here – somewhere.
Actually, it is worse than I thought. Hackney must be added to the list, as well.
A ratio of four to seven.
These seven are as ill-served by the club leadership as are the fans.
In a proper setup, most might make the grade but they are being sold short too.
I applaud their gallant efforts. So reminiscent of the Spartan Leonidas at Thermopylae.1 user thanked author for this post.
We started at Exeter with SIX young/inexperienced/relatively inexperienced players in the starting line-up.
O’Malley, Rowe, Matheson, Burns, Jarvis & Pugh.
It asks an incredible amount of these lads to be able save the Iron’s season.
They are all undercooked and in a proper squad, a nine to two ratio of experience to inexperience might possibly have been acceptable.
But a ratio of five to six is as incredible as it is horrific. You cannot run a League Two team on a National League North budget.

Well if Mr Swann has said that it will be paid off ‘if required’ … I am certain that we can wholly rely on that.
Why should we be worrying?2 users thanked author for this post.
I approved of the Loft departure but this was solely based on the premise of an experienced replacement.
In the second half of January – I am rather less than gruntled. Two mistakes: Mason didn’t get across Brown allowing the shot; shabby goalkeeping for the second.
January 15, 2022 at 5:07 am in reply to: SWANNS Last Chance to Save Our Football League Status #221670The proof of the pudding, Fe, is what the side has become in the absence of Manny.
All Hill’s hard work, which was really showing through, has simply turned to ashes without Manny – as predicted that it could.
The depth of squad is pathetically thin. We have been a CB down all season.Anyone could see Hill’s improvements and it was clear that the half decent CB which Onariase is, could hold it together. Take him away and the house of cards all began to crumble.
He’s been out long enough now not to be quite match fit and will be aware that he now has to get it right all the time. From now on, all of the pressure on him is going to be off the scale – poor sod!1 user thanked author for this post.
