Regarding ‘matters sinister’.
Someone whose highly knowledgeable opinion I value greatly – and really knows her/his politics from the inside – has declared to me that he/she has encountered a surprisingly tiny ratio of plots in high places as opposed to the alternative explanations.
Whether this is where plots are assumed to have happened in: politics, business, high finance etc – playing the odds, apparently, you are ALWAYS safer assuming incompetence to be at the heart of the matter. It begins as the odds on favourite.Consequently – applying the logic above – this writer would wager his tenner on incompetence. Managing businesses – and football clubs which happen to be businesses – are not the same thing.

Bottom line – what has been wrong on the pitch?
Too much inexperience but no spine.Now, the balance has changed. We cannot judge what happens next by the failures on the pitch pre-transfer window.
Clean slate. 18 games. Don’t let our position in that mini league fall into the bottom third.
We have strengthened at CB. We have strengthened wide. We have strengthened in CM in front of defence.
Burns looks better than Scrimshaw. We have strikers to rough up defenders.
We’ll get the ball into the box more.Who can argue that this side is not truly improved?
It may not be enough … but there is still cause for a little hope.

It is going to be considerably cheaper for Swann to pay up contracts – probably at the very last minute – than to pay off the loan.
He won’t want to pay off any until he absolutely has to.TBH if it can become a grant at a later date it’d be insane not to take that route.
My bet is that there are signings lined up and he will pay up contracts when it is clear that there really is no way whatsoever of removing the dead wood.
After promises made, he is in no position not to strengthen across the team. If he doesn’t – that means he would lose all credibility … oh! Er … Well …3 users thanked author for this post.
