Assuming good planning; a will (with attached way); adequate funding; a team with a spine and we can reasonably expect to be in the top ten of the NL.
All of the above with decent funding – playoffs beckon.
All of the above but with inadequate funds for solid backup – the lower reaches are our destination.We are entering a different culture from which promotion is always difficult. Too many teams in the NL have loadsa money. If it’s just a couple – with a fair wind from behind, a bit of luck and a proper budget? – Maybe we could steal a slot.
But bouncing back in one go is not especially likely. Two proper goal scorers required to be realistic and … where the blazes will they come from?

The word ‘puppet’ comes to mind – coz there will be strings attached.This looks suspiciously like a ploy which will allow PS to stay well away from the firing line. Won’t even need to attend matches. REEESULT for him.
I can look historically at the ‘hiring substitutes’ system in the American Civil War. You paid anything between a $100 and $3,000 to some poor sod who would take over your spot in the draft and go off to the front to attempt not to get killed.
I now suspect that LT may actually be no more than a very well paid ‘Aunt Sally’. For what is is coming his way – the salary needs to be a darned good un.

Why has Lee left a decent job with a decent club?
The man is no fool. There is no hint that this is just a temporary appointment.
He knows the ins and outs. In his shoes, would you come in to act as a puppet?
Even with a hefty pay increase – he must know that if Swann is pulling the strings, the position would inevitably be insecure.Surely, these aren’t the answers. There must be something else in the wind.

I fully applaud this logical thinking.
Results, at the moment, are of zero consequence. If we lose every game by six – it just doesn’t matter. Let him experiment with what he’s got – especially where the youngsters are concerned.
I refuse to criticise until I see that this incredibly capable manager is unable to make this rebuild work. (Even then … can we pretend that restraints from on high have not stymied him?)

Well IA, I texted someone familiar with boardrooms and similar regarding what had happened and his unprompted response was, “He’ll be part of any consortium, then.”
I interrogated him further last night and he listed a number of interpretations of the actions but said that was the most likely.I listened to some complex logic which did make sense – but ultimately, it can only be supposition, of course.
My personal view was that Simon had seen that it was all such a dog’s breakfast that a man, known for his effectiveness in high powered roles, had simply escaped from what he may have considered to be a Putinesque situation.

The trouble is that some people make no allowances for bad situations.
Let me put it another way.
Let us imagine that you have a team which has four or five players each with a heavy plaster cast on an arm.
Now when that team loses – do we blame the manager? – If so – then why?On a similar line, Nuttall had minimal support again today. Some neat touches first half and worked hard but took stick from supporters.

Fence painting brings: pride, self-satisfaction and a sense of accomplishment. It brightens up your environment and makes you feel good inside.Whereas, watching the Iron offers none of those things.

Odd game.
First thing and the most important thing – as a team, they were two divisions better than we were.For the first time in a while the central defence was abject.
Why so awful in defence? – Surely, the absence of Grant was like being smitten with a two by four about the head.
So many good bits amongst the horrific bits.
Disagreed with Hinds about ‘lack of effort’. A number of players performed well. The others were just not good enough.
Bang goes my theory that Taft is better not being alongside Manny.
