I think it will be worth getting down to the fans forum if you can. The timing of it suggests Hilton is either going to announce the deal will complete without a hitch or that it has hit the buffers.

I am not privy to any inside info but I decided to wait before committing to a season ticket, which gives you some indication of how I think it may unfold.

Your last sentence is precisely the reason i advised my daughter n family to hang fire re buying a season ticket until the GP issue is resolved .. they decided to buy and im guessing if Hiltons deal hits the rocks and therefore playing elsewhere she /they wont be very happy.

How many season tickets has the club sold and how will those already buying them feel if any problems arise re playing at GP ..

No doubt Mr Hilton may of had a change of heart or unable to find the funds required so will Scunthorpe witness a public lynching on the 17th OR a celebration on or before 24th May ??

a few days n all will be revealed…patience the order of the day until then.

No i had not .. sad news , he was a regular away day lad in the mad van .. must of been about my age too, not sure if he went to Foxhills

So you went to Foxhills? Who was your form teacher? Mine was Pete Write. Class of 83…

Now your asking lemme think with my old dusty memory..

My form teacher was Mr Mcclellen
Maths Mr White wore an old smelly 3 pc suit, greasy hair.
    Science pin head Robins
    French Ms Mac
Art big fella cant recall his name
Games i can picture him but not a name
Form room was in the old Rozla block very handy to nip out to that corner shop on Reg rd side

    i left in 81

They never shut up about the tragedy chanting, but not a word on their fans booing the national anthem.

    Agree ….

Scousers Gone down in my estimations ..

Yes i am a royalist but dont have an issue with anyone that isnt .. booing your national anthem is out of order.

Disappointed to see Jordan Hallam leave, thought he was worth another 2 year contract at the very least.

Yes agree ..but look on the bright side , DH can save a few quid for a service on his new motor and lay off one Physio and sell the treatment table Hallam had called his own for years.

Im still trying to get my head round another regular crockaholic in Rance staying possibly on 1500 quid a week whilst Whitehouse has been shown the door.

By the time a few of the contracted players have jumped ship ie Ogle n Butterfield etc the squad will be pretty much rag tag n bobtail misfits as the topic header suggests.

19 players on the books at this stage then.

    Jimbob’s misfits (end of contracts):

    Ben Richards-Everton
    Colin Daniel
    Daniel Gallimore
    Elliott Whitehouse
    George Taft
    Jack Moore-Billam
    Jordan Hallam
    Liam Feeney
    Mason O’Malley
    Sean Shields.

So we had a 35 man squad at NL.
That’s 21 players being paid not to play each game – assuming 3 substitutions are made in each game.
    21 players!
I bet the physios love big squads with a few sick notes in them – keeps them in a job.
A 24 man squad next season should suffice?
    Let’s save a few quid!

Whitehouse should be kept and maybe Shields BRE .. Rance binned

TBH after the disaster season weve just experienced im fed up of trying to work out who we will start next season with as non of JDs decisions make much sense to me from his arrival Taft n Whitehouse faces didnt fit ..i thought the idea is the let JD sign his own players not chuck a few newbies in with the left overs from this bunch .. if thats what happens then it will go even more pear shaped.

I am not hopeful or remotely confident in how things appear to be heading .. talk is cheap its actions that count.

    Here you go:

    https://www.scunthorpe-united.co.uk/news/2023/may/club-statement/

Well after reading that .. i need another stiff drink

Pugh & Rance yes – Whitehouse no! Unbelievable Jeff!!

WTF .. Rance is a crock and done jack shit ti earn anew offer whilst Whitehouse is ripping at Chester… Jimmy knows best , gord help us.

Foster will end up going. I can’t see Butterfield staying either to be honest. Wilson I can understand because if we offer him a contract don’t we get a fee if a team comes in for him ?

Fecking Dean Rance, came injured and hardly played for the last team he was at due to injuries and yet he’s staying. I don’t understand that at all.

    Same here

Whspers from codland they are watching/keen on Shrimpton and this name mentioned in Bru earlier Chadwick whose i believe is on loan at Boston from Hull.

Barring the youngsters like Robertson Poulter etc I would be hard pressed to choose max 3 or 4 who should be retained .. for the most part theyve all been total gash.. also cant see the likes of Shields Butterfield staying

    Chappo Elliot Ogle Whitehouse ..

    p45 the rest

    Players – mostly no!!
I like the idea of Performance Related Pay for players, that would sort out what we’ve been served up lately.

And managers ……. i know they are some what on PRP already as if the team dont win in most cases managers are sacked ..but they still get their pay and contractual payoffs..ask Rafa the king of the early bath brown envelope.

Nice post CC and its just about how i would feel if the clubs fates were in reverse.

Indeed there are many differing posts on Fishy from the obvious gloating and piss taking to an increasing number offering compassion to Scunnys plight.

I read it as some posts are quite funny… example the Miss Scunthorpe quote made me chortle

Miss Scunthorpe ..no not a beauty pageant just F**king good advice

Also very true that a disasterous and rapid demise can happen to any club at any time for numerous reasons (mainly poor ownership) in recent times citing clubs dropping from the PL to L1 ala Sunderland whilst Scunny and Yeovil have matched the likes of Stockport in dropping considerably lower from the Championship… thankfully saved from doing a Bury or Macclesfield by new owner DH who hopefully will turn the clubs fortunes around.

I recall going through Grimsby on way to Cleggy with my parents when a bairn many moons ago , car windows up trying not to stop at traffic lights too long ..a mooch along the sea front playing dodge the dog shit, Steeles fish n chips and candy floss and my father always telling us ….

if your a good lads we wont come next week.

Well over 1800 replies and a quarter of a million views on the SCUNTHORPE thread ovver yonder.

Its nice to know deep down how much the cods care and that our fan base is spreading even into the un chartered saline waters of Grimthorpes, im wondering if the Mariners will even go for a claret n Blue away kit next season to show solidarity for their much loved neighbors.

Back to the main thread header question ..Even though its an away fixture hence hes more likely to attend im of the opinion he wont go…last game of the season means nothing (have any of the last 15 games) probably feels he can do with out any potential hassle n earache from fans.

Get another tragic season over n done with.

Retained list n see whose here n whose gone

Moving on to D DAY May 24th if we get that far …

Then the “big secret plan” kicks in

At last a new thread based on the football not the bullshit .. good idea re a NLN topic as dont know much about the league and quite a few of the teams that play in it.. googling locations etc.

Be interesting to see who gets promoted to the NLN from the ongoing playoffs ..shame about Gainsborough missing out i watched the highlights on YT and was a very entertaining tight game by the look of things.

Certainly some memories from Nuneaton, i would hope theyve improved their ground since that fateful day from the 80s

all this bullshit is very tedious n pissing me off …. even though im based overseas i joined the forum out of my love for SUFC, to debate n talk about football, chew the fat re tactics and performances throw in a few memories and a bit of fun n banter … of course talk about off the field stuff and obviously the old n new owners will be a factor but this vendetta against DH the man who saved our club is taking over everything else what the forum is supposed to be about and may well destroy the club.

I dont know who is stirring the pot or what is being said on twitter etc as thankfully dont use it but it all sounds very toxic and damaging.

I personally dont give a rats arse what DH has done in the past im more interested in the future if the club has a future after all this bollocks.

with all this outside interference bullshit targeting him would not be surprised if DH walks away such is the which hunt against him by this a minority who probabaly are not even Scunny fans more so for what ever reason are very anti Hilton ..

FFS .. imagine if he walks , say good bye to the club then for sure.

I am internally grateful to him for saving the club and what he has is doing so far , my one gripe is his glaring misjudgement when not taking time a step back before appointing JD but thats history and a gamble that has back fired badly , im sure the JD issue will be sorted out if things carry on going pear shaped next season. IF WE STILL HAVE A CLUB BY NEXT SEASON.
