Any gesture before a game supporting the anti racism movement in sport is very welcome whether it be taking the knee or showing support through applause to the team taking it. Applause before a game is used for many things such as remembering a famous player now passed on or a gesture of appreciation to some long standing fan or club member. The knee represents the anti racism cause and therefore is unique to that and that is why it should stay and that’s why players who voluntarily take it should be applauded.

Worrying that we are lumped in with Oldham who have struggled financially for years and are owned by a guy universally disliked by the fans, Swindon who are about to go pop any day now and who’s fans despise the owner and then Scunny who’s fans…………. need I say more?

Once again Southgate has been proved right, never mind the subbing of Grealish, never mind was it a pen or not, never mind Pickford should do better with the free kick and never mind the goal from the pen save rebound, England won and managed extra time brilliantly, thoroughly deserved win and all the players did great. Sterling player of the tournament for me so far, tonight he was outstanding. 👏👏👏

Given we have played like twats for 3 seasons we may as well look like twats as well.

Played like twats, look like twats, watched for years by a bunch of gullible twats. UP THE IRON.

Cracking game tonight between Italy and Spain, great passing and movement plus total commitment, excellent from both teams. Hope England can win it in 90 minutes tomorrow, those Italians are going to be tough cookies in the final but I think out of us and Denmark only we can beat them. COME ON ENGLAND.

Yes Ironawe, but no need to promote it every game, now I see the England captain is wearing a rainbow armband now, where will it all end?.

Thanks for your honesty, it’s nice to see you realise the players are voluntarily taking the knee to support anti racism in sport and not some Marxist backed regime as people like BPG have alluded too, with no evidence whatsoever to back up this ridiculous claim. As for the armband, I guess he’s happy to wear it as England captain, something you and I Awaywego will never have the privilege of doing, guess it’s his choice based on merit of being captain.

The Morecambe comparison on season tickets will be interesting when stacked up alongside town population, Morecambes population is less then half of Scunthorpe and although they live in a more densely populated area of the country then us we don’t have three of the most successful clubs in football history on our doorstep plus a host of other larger towns with bigger football clubs. However I hear Morecambe play half decent footy and they have just got promoted, good luck to them.

Sorry Ironawe but your not describing what I have said, quite happy for both views to be expressed, though I must admit I would like to see an end to the knee.

Ok then so do you see taking the knee by the players as supporting the anti racism message in sport and nothing else? Yes or no please.

All for opinions and criticism, so long as it is the same for both sides, but seems one sided to me when others object to booing of the knee.

Let’s try and sort this Awaywego just one more time for you. The players either individually or collectively through their professional association have stated that they VOLUNTARILY take the knee to support the anti racism campaign in sport, no other reason, no other agenda, just that. Now the inference being that supporters who boo this gesture either don’t support the anti racism campaign in sport or are indeed racist themselves, got it, not too difficult really. If people who boo then come on football platforms and try to accuse the footballers of taking the knee to be supporting a Marxist led regime, with absolutely no evidence whatsoever to back this up, this inevitably will lead to discussions on this matter which is what is taking place now. People like myself who support the players and their VOLUNTARY action ( based on the anti racism campaign remember ) in taking the knee are just simply asking those opposing this decision by booing and then stating it’s political ( which it isn’t remember because the players said so, remember ) to produce the evidence to back up their bogus claims. Now whilst no evidence has been produced, said people who boo then come back on the forum, sometimes after a couple of days or so and begin going through their familiar routine again of accusing either players or their supporters that they are bigoted or one sided or won’t let others have their say. Nothing could be further from the truth, have your say, make your points but be prepared to be challenged to produce evidence against the players backing the anti racism campaign that they have another agenda altogether. The players through their association with the backing of the England manager have made their position crystal clear on this matter, others like yourself have not. Produce your evidence or keep quiet because you are in the wrong on this matter.

How about letting people who wish to take the knee do it and those who don’t wish to, don’t? It makes no difference to me either way, each to their own and neither side should be criticised for what they chose to do!

That’s the position the majority on this forum have taken Pat myself included but if you have followed this topic with interest you will know that the discussion has escalated into the reasons why they take it and whether the players do so voluntarily, which they have expressed clearly that they do and whether it’s to support anti racism in sport which again they have expressed clearly that they do. It’s the people coming on distorting the facts with versions of players being coerced to take the knee or for reasons they support a Marxist based organisation for which they produce no evidence whatsoever when questioned. It’s just another conspiracy based presentation by some who may have an underlying reason for doing so which may be based on racism. One can’t be sure because as I stated earlier they never produce evidence to back up their claims or invariably run away when questioned when they have ” dropped their bomb ” then departed. So this debate will continue while others continue to spread untruths which attempt to smear the players who have been nothing but honest in this entire public protest.

JI you would make a great spin doctor but unfortunately most of the top positions will have already been filled so stop dancing round your handbag on this and several other issues you want to comment on but don’t feel able because blah blah blah. Just come out and say it and stop taking some king of imagined moral position then withdrawing after basically saying nowt. I’m sure the forum awaits your input with baited breath, so far you’ve been rather disappointing and appear to lack sincerity.

With SUFC appearing to be such a closed shop it makes you wonder if all player contracts now contain confidentiality clauses which run on even years after they have left. Jems interview certainly wasn’t appreciated by the hierarchy.

I was pulled up by JI initially because I called Mr Fox a racist piece of excrement ( I used the vulgar expression ) I said in another post that maybe I should not label him as such but I believe he’s a racist and that term is used broadly about certain people which is deemed acceptable so I presume JI was upset about the vulgar term of excrement, really? Above I used a term with letters missing so people could fill in the blanks as they wish, many some may think Mr Fox is a ” coot ” or a ” clot ” or maybe something else they deem more suitable either way maybe I should just have said Mr Fox appears to be struggling with his predicament of preaching patriotism whilst bad mouthing the England team about them voluntarily taking the knee whilst being hailed as uniting the nation at this troubled time. JI has decided to make my recent replies an issue but says he won’t address the position of England taking the knee as he feels the board is polarised and toxic. Not sure how expressing an opinion and asking for some honesty about the reasoning behind it could be deemed as toxic because if people have nothing to hide then surely honesty is a given. Anyway carry on each and everyone of you because it’s your right.

    Indeed.

So should players cross themselves when then walk onto the pitch or is it a Catholic conspiracy?

Many believe ( no pun intended ) that christianity, indeed religions in general, are the biggest conspiracy theories ever, it’s just an opinion on a subject, no need to get uptight people.

The moaners, groaners and Southgate slaggers look really silly tonight, England have grown into this tournament at the right pace and are now building up a real head of steam at just the right time. Great team performance, scored the goals that mattered at the right time in each half then managed the game brilliantly and professionally, well played guys. COME ON ENGLAND.👏👏👏

We are all on the same side les and we have seen just what happens when football clubs are run in a certain way. The sad Bury saga is still fresh in the mind, Swindon are in a real mess and whilst we appear to be ticking along it’s the underlying details which are eroding fans confidence about what our club is turning into. Having no voice, being ignored, losing ground ownership, appearing to be taken for granted whilst listening to PR sound bites about SUFC just adds to the frustration. I know times change and nothing lasts forever but our club just doesn’t feel right anymore, I believe it’s in a dark place and we are just helpless on the sidelines looking in on a disaster unfolding before our eyes. It’s so bloody annoying.
