Strikers
Wingers
Attacking midfield players
????????????????????????????The players in these positions will help sell season tickets and merchandise and maybe, just maybe get fans back on board… if they get fans excited!
No disrespect to the 3 new guys but there’s barely a goal or assist between them… all the players with attacking quality had their contracts withdrawn and then subsequently left so what’s the plan??
We need some exciting players!!!
July 6, 2021 at 11:15 pm #209866We need some exciting players to give us hope, at the moment both are missing.
July 6, 2021 at 11:17 pm #209867Harry Bunn 180 league appearances, 23 goals.
A goal every eight games. Should give Lofty a run for his money!
July 7, 2021 at 8:19 am #209872Harsh.
If there is proper movement around Loft – I expect him to have a decent season. Good for 15 goals, I reckon. He got 8 goals in 41 games last season and in a team which was a total shambles. Not terrible under the prevailing circumstances.I obviously don’t expect Paul Hayes quality on our budget – but I do want to see someone in that mould who he can work off.
Playing him as a lone striker would not qualify – that is where we have seen him at his worst.
It is rare for younger players make good lone forwards.July 7, 2021 at 9:50 am #209881If there is proper movement around Loft
And if he’s learned how to control a football!
July 7, 2021 at 11:17 am #209887Agreed les. I’m not giving up on Loft. I still think there is a player in there.

July 7, 2021 at 12:16 pm #209890It does feel like a team aiming for a 0-0. We still have no attacking competency in the club and a couple of positive players in the club would help. Cox said Millen likes to get forward – but to what? A lone striker who can’t control a football!
July 7, 2021 at 5:02 pm #209905When Teddy Howe arrived he “got forward” a few times.
I think it lasted two games before he realised he was wasting his energy!
July 7, 2021 at 8:21 pm #209925EFL will need to ratify any further signings. Let’s hope they don’t decide Loft, Thurman and Jarvis are our lot.
July 8, 2021 at 3:52 pm #210002Won’t matter: it looks like the Swanns have already decided that🙁
July 8, 2021 at 7:24 pm #210017still about 5 or 6 short…we need to get a serious move on.
GK
2 wingers
1 or 2 strikers
LB coverWith the embaro and with crappy Jarvis and Turan here, I expect either a clapped out freebie or a loanee coming in.
July 8, 2021 at 8:16 pm #210025If we’re lucky.
July 8, 2021 at 8:22 pm #210026We’ve got 18 who have played a professional game if I can count so assuming the 23 is correct then we can only have 5.
Keeper is the absolute priority.
If we then sign Bunn and one other winger/striker and loan a lb and another winger/striker that might be the lot.
I’d expect all of the attackers to be wingers/strikers. Or maybe a left sided player who can do LB and LW?
July 9, 2021 at 7:22 pm #210086Or maybe a left sided player who can do LB and LW?
We already have one of those in Hippolyte but it’s unfortunate that he’s crap in both positions.
We definitely need 2 wingers and at least another striker. Turan and Jarvis don’t count because they’re both dog poo.
July 9, 2021 at 8:23 pm #210096Trouble is they do count towards the 23 man limit as they’ve both played a professional game.
Unless we can find someone as stupid as we are to take them off our hands?
If we had 3 strikers who were good enough it would be much less of a problem but with this 23 man limit everyone must be able to contribute.
Those 2 are absolute dead weight. Hippolyte and Watson can be added to that list which means we will functionally have a squad of 19 max who are able to offer anything. Hopefully some of these kids are good.
July 10, 2021 at 2:06 am #210099I should have been more clear. I meant they don’t count as in predicting they’ll add anything.
No doubt they count in the 23 but not in my eyes. Swann should have used the Dawson money to pay those two off.
Combing through the training pics and seeing Big Bad Turan and Jarvis is a sign of the times.
Releasing 18 and being 5 or 6 short at this stage is an absolute piss take.
Surely Swann won’t go with Watson as no 1 after green lighting the Howard signing soon after him being deemed as the go to GK.
I fecking hope not anyway.
