One promotion, two playoff semi finals in div one, and missed out on another on goal difference, one relegation, and made a loss while doing so much like every other club, seems quite good to me, don’t know about you?. Could be worse Barcelona have a £1.15 billion loss and theirs hasn’t been written off.

Whartons record was better, promoted from league two, champions of league one, play-off winners at Wembley, three seasons in the championship, manageable debt of two million, owned the ground and never once put it into another company to cover an unmanageable eleven million pounds debt. Yes there were a couple of relegations but come on be truthful for once, the two records aren’t even comparable.

Ok show me how it’s done? I have nothing against Wharton but why did we get relegated to league 2 after all those glittering successes you mention? I assume it was nothing to do with Wharton.

Discuss the unacceptable level of debt, lack of success compared to Mr Wharton and the ground grab that has never occurred before in the history of SUFC until this current chairman came along. Why don’t you discuss that Mr club sycophant?

The statement regarding washing down of all seating prior to the season starting is clearly untrue as many on here have stated about their own seats on matchday. I took a cloth with me for the Swindon game after a mates advice who had been to the Burton game pre season and my seat was filthy. The dust for a start was very thick and there were dirty marks and cobwebs on the backs of the seat and on the seat itself, many others around me were the same, so sorry SUFC you are clearly printing an untruth. Whether it’s because a member of staff is attempting to cover their arse or not I don’t know, I suppose the next statement will read ” well that’s what the stadium staff told us, honest “.
I did hear on a coaching course my grandson son attended this week down at Bottesford Town ( organised by SUFC ) that the stadium manager had been suspended as a result of the state of the stadium this season. Don’t know if that is true but it was being said this week by coaching staff running the course.

Well at least you made an attempt an answer of sorts but you don’t mention the debt accrued under this chairman who has achieved nothing like the success Mr Wharton did with a much more manageable financial position and you never mention the ground grab that has occurred due to this chairman’s financial mismanagement. Wharton never promised that much but delivered a lot more then was expected and clubs like ours very rarely achieve long term sustained success due to the amount of financial clout we can generate through our size. The vast majority of Iron fans realise this and are happy to follow a club achieving occasional success but striving to play decent football whilst bringing youngsters through to help careers and provide financial stability through transfers.
This chairman promised much from a new stadium to a revamped stadium to the hope of championship football but none of this has materialised in 8 years of his stewardship. What has occurred is one promotion, two play off semi final defeats, a relegation and a financial disaster for such a small club. The biggest loss is the ownership of the football club for the first time in its history due to financial bungling. If you addressed that point rather then slag off genuinely concerned fans who raise these issues then maybe a healthier debate could ensue.

    Garcia! Garcia! Garcia!

Never mind that, address the questions put to you about the respective chairman’s records, less of your sycophantic drivel and more attention to actual details and facts. If your referring to Alex and his Wembley winning goal back in 1999 being the link to your avatar, no one gives a shit, just answer the points raised, be genuine for once in your pathetic existence or else shut it numb nuts.

I believe he got us relegated into league 2 and decided he’d had enough.

As usual a Scunny fan making out everything was rosey before the Swanns and will be rosey after the Swanns.

I think you mean rosy, anyhow let’s put the respective chairman’s records on promotion, trips to Wembley, seasons actually played in the Championship and debt incurred whilst in charge. Oh yes and Mr Wharton never transferred the club ownership away into a separate company to cover his sorry arse. Your go.

    I have a dream, Cass.
One day there will BE clean seats at the SVS.

Aye clean seats, clean toilets, reasonably good catering and a decent team to watch playing enjoyable football most of the time, plus the odd promotion, winning the odd league title and a few trips to Wembley some successful some not.

    Whatever happened to Steve Wharton?

Give it up Awaywego the reflection in the flat screen of the sparsely populated Iron Bar tells it’s own story, what a joke. I’ve been in plenty of away bars at half time ( would never go in our shit hole of a bar ) and they have always been jammed with fans jostling, chatting and more importantly all drinking beer. The screen should read lost customers due to an idiot not lost signal.

I am not surprised the foreigners have ruined fine British cuisine! They don’t know what to cook apart from off meat covered in spices! Their muck isn’t fit for purpose, so they will ruin fish and chips! There aren’t many good fish and chip shops now because of this! I hope libtards are happy with the outcome of their diversity! We used to have good chippies, now ruined because this country is being flooded with immigrants who can cut costs!

….as for you Adolph, you are just a hate filled shit stirrer, don’t think any sensible well adjusted folk will be taking much notice of your bilge as the truth.

Went downhill like this thread, once the Greeks got hold of it Ironawe.

That’s crap Awaywego and you know it, eat with your gob man not your eyes judging a shop owners nationally or colour, the fish and chips are still excellent at Carvers and I suspect the new owners use the same fish suppliers and possibly they took advice from Rosie on the old cooking method that made them taste so good. As for price, everything goes up but the quality remains, plus they do home delivery now.

    4,677 at Hartlepool.

But they’re just a Mickey Mouse club fresh out of non-league!

Probably just being run as a hobby too, not a proper professionally run club like ours.

We were looking good for a win and I was enjoying the game much more then the Swindon encounter, we looked sharp going forward particularly second half and Scrimshaw was excellent, great goal and in their faces the entire game. Then the equaliser, once again Pugh found wanting at wing back/full back and beaten too easily by their winger who provided an easy finish for their forward and then we could have lost it when we should have been already out of sight. Good display by Watson but why oh why can’t we manage a game better when heading for three points? It’s getting better but it’s tedious slow in getting that first win.

Well said MK, yep we moan and groan, justifiably, about the current state of the squad and tactics but the last two away results have proved one thing, this squad has balls and the right attitude. Great last couple of results guys, well done 👏👏👏

Very good article and would appear to be a very accurate assessment of where the club and its fans stand at this moment in time. Quite a lot of it has been broadly discussed on this forum over several seasons, so I see no need to question the details. Desperate times indeed for our football club, that’s ” our ” football club, nowt to do with the Prawn he’s just the current owner who will disappear when the time is right for him and that can’t be long now he has acquired the club became of big headed bungling management.

Staffy was a programme seller , turnstile operator , 50-50 tickets etc. Got paid for them all.
Infact he’s been on the Iron payroll in some form since the 60s.
Told he always got free bus travel and free away match ticket.
First time he does not get free travel and ticket he does not go.
Call him a top fan !
The over 400 fans who had to pay for travel and tickets yesterday are top fans not someone who stops going once his freebies are stopped.

Remember Staffy just didn’t sit on the bus discussing whatever whilst it reached the away venue. He checked for no alcohol on board before leaving ( the law, not his law and meant all fans on that bus could see the game and not miss it due to a moron, probably one of Awaywego’s mates ). He ran raffles, dispensed drinks and snacks, informed fans about drop off and pick up procedure on the day, dispensed rubbish bags for litter and retrieved them for disposal before the bus went back to its depot, informed fans about next games, old programme sales etc etc.

The rest of us just did what all fans do, discussed the game and life in general, met and got to know like minded folk, stared out the window waiting to arrive or spent endless time on their phones whilst Staffy ran the bus for their benefit. So maybe he did get a free ticket, I don’t know or care because John Staff deserved that at the very least and I wish some folk would be a little more gracious about a really nice bloke who’s heart was in the right place and really loved his football club. Nice one Staffy, well done mate 👏👏👏

Very sad to not see Staffy on the bus or at the match today.

Of course he wasn’t, he would have had to pay! Another freeloader off the books.

That’s rather uncalled for Mick, Staffy started going to Scunny games and selling programmes outside the OSG when he was around 11, he’s the wrong side of seventy now so I don’t think his loyalty is in question TBH. Top bloke Staffy, ” draw tickets “.

Pointless arguing with a Yob DM, too busy looking at their knuckles dragging on the floor, checking how cool they look. Wonder if they lobbed any flares at Rochdale yesterday those wonderful hooligans of ours?

Open Hearth Iron makes some very good points, when the people running the club are doing their job badly, that’s when the club sycophants come alive, they just can’t bear the people they fawn over to be criticised. They are really pathetic but we already know that.

The defence is obviously going to be our main strength this season so well done to Cox for sorting that out, also a welcome clean sheet for Rory which should stop him getting an arse kicking on here tonight. We need that new striker and winger for sure plus something different in midfield to change things around when the manager needs to. If the Coventry lad comes back in a few weeks time I don’t see us needing another keeper option but we need a change of luck with injuries or else it will be very difficult this season. Can’t argue with an away point, we just need more scoring options to grab a few wins, well done guys, good point today.

    Or you could stand.

That’s isn’t the point Awaywego TBF and you know it. Not all people can or want to stand and that’s why they pay extra for a seat compared to standing. I sit at home games through choice but invariably stand at away games depending on the ticket allocation but some people need to sit every game. Surely the whole point is the ground should be prepared in the correct manner to ensure comfort and cleanliness for all supporters. The club are failing in their duties and are letting their fan base down while expecting people to turn up in numbers to swell the coffers, it’s just bad practice all round from SUFC.
