Quite attacking so far. Clearly Butler’s listening to the experienced coaches on here.

Lol awaywego, ‘happy clapper’. First time for everything I suppose. You’ve a short memory. I was anything but a HC during much of the Swann and Hilton eras, and with good reason I think. Just because I’m not knee jerking at any club action or perceived lack of action, doesn’t mean I’m applauding like a trained seal, as many did under Bodgeit & Scarper.

Michelle’s first mistake: thinking there wouldn’t be any supporters who seemed to value Swann and Toerag more than her and the current staff.

Michelle’s second mistake: underestimating how much time a fair number of fans found the time and will to nitpick and whinge at any available opportunity.

Just because there is an obvious need to be addressed (some squad additions) doesn’t mean you neglect another pressing need identified by the Board (a CEO). Unless many of you have experience of successfully running a football club that I’m not aware of?

You forget all the positives and they did bring the feel good factor back albeit for a short time.

That’s a whopper. Even by your standards.

I listened to that string of local clubs fans forums on Humberside . I was pretty impressed with all of them in truth ; Butler might have been the cheaper option but seems a good level headed guy . The board seem sensible and putting the club on a safer financial footing ,which I’m sure will translate to promotion this season .

You are in far better place than under Swann & Hilton that’s for sure so the future wiĺl be brighter for the Iron and most importantly you will have a safe and sustainable club .

What’s this Rich? A sensible objective opinion? You do know it’s not de rigueur round here these days? No, knee jerk petulance is the fashion I’m afraid. Then you’ve got belly laugh fare like this:

‘I’m no advocate of chopping and changing.’

It’s possible to set up not to concede and still get a couple of goals. Not sure how that makes a mockery of claiming to want to win every game. Every manager wants to win every game, but they’re not stupid enough to think they will. If he’d claimed he would then I would agree with you.

    From Iron Trustee, Matt Ellis:

‘As football fans we often struggle with perspective. So here’s some: Top of the league, a game in hand. One league defeat all season. Five goals conceded, only one away. Better points tally vs this time last year. A fully fit squad with no injuries. Debt almost gone. #UTI’

Regarding Butterfield, I’m merely making a sarcastic comment about you making such a big deal about the club releasing him like it was Armageddon. Hardly ‘any available opportunity’. Neither am I ‘easily offended’. Though you’re probably right, X isn’t my cup of tea. Too many people slagging each other off in there and bandying insults around. Still, worth a look in occasionally to see what people are saying cheaply.

Regarding Butler ‘launching himself towards the naysayers’. An over-reaction to abuse I’d call it. But then, I’ve never had it in for him from day one and don’t seek any opportunity to undermine him and what he’s trying to achieve for the club.

‘I’ve seen far worse directed towards managers (and players for that matter) of other clubs and the language has been a lot less polite.’

Does that make it okay? Below the belt if you ask me and not even true. As if he’s a ‘simpleton’.

You also neglect to say Butler doesn’t have your non league Messi to field, which would probably elevate his team’s entertainment levels to Pep style levels.

‘Some strange results last night. Chorley and Curzon both won after weekend defeats, ‘

Not really. Both teams and a few others show flashes of decent football but they’re inconsistent. Whereas we’ve been pretty consistent defensively all season, just had a dip in performances and goals. Promotion material I reckon. Lest we forget, that’s the objective

A post on X yesterday below:

‘Surely any manager worth their salt has their own ideas and playing model? The simplistic approach of just copying the last team to win the league says it all. He doesn’t sound that bright in interviews either. We’ve got a simpleton in charge, should have stuck with Dean.’

Total unnecessary disrespect. And rubbish – Like Dean was some super intelligent guy?!
Just get over it with some grace and dignity.

Absolutely. When we’re getting results with a decent performance, those runs are a big part of the reason. When we’re not, Butler needs to concentrate more on coaching passing skills

Isn’t it the same pretty much every where? How many other club’s supporters could bemoan their players flourishing elsewhere. Must be a high percentage. The issue, as I see it, is clubs like us being in freefall for years, till recently. Hardly surprising many players succeed after moving on given how shite we’ve been since the last league one playoffs. Look how well some of those lot did after us: Wallace, Holmes, Townsend, to name just a few.

If we start getting results again, the ‘here we are now, entertain us’ brigade will quieten. Same if Tuchel wins a tournament, regardless of how it’s won. I can understand the need to feel like one’s just watched the non league equivalent of a top premier league side from a younger cohort, but genuinely surprised by this demand to be entertained from older supporters.

Seen the post now. 2 groups of 20 in one afternoon. I dunno, maybe something to do with Glynn having plenty of other stuff to do apart from being a tour guide? Whatever they did you’d be critical anyway awaywego.
