I’m sure I read on here only a month or so ago that Carlton wasn’t actually a footballer. Fair bit of volte face occurring from one or two.

If he wins promotion he’ll no doubt have ‘stumbled’ his way to it.

I sincerely hope it is ‘the biggest music festival Scunthorpe has ever seen’ Mr Roberts, for the clubs coffers. But I can’t see it surpassing the free festivals of the 80s at Ashby Ville.

Watched quite a bit of that. Players turned up for a change by the looks of it. If our lot had done so a little more in certain games, who knows? :)

I can understand why some supporters would think I’m making excuses for Butler MKI. Stubborness isn’t a managerial trait confined to him though.

That massive slump we had when Butler was stuck on play 5 at the back is the main reason. How many points did we drop in that period ?

3 successive 1-0 away defeats when playing a back 4 didn’t help. Maybe a back 5 would have given us a couple of draws?

I applaud the attempt to bring some balance to the tactical discussion. Either way, though, and as I’ve said before, we are where are – in with a very good shout. Demanding we should have pissed the league absolutely smacks of entitlement in a division that everyone can see has been harder than anticipated, with plenty of sides fighting and toughing things out.

This ^. And the armchair manager absolutist attitude to what went wrong. Barely any nuance, just ‘it was the back 5 that did for us – I’m completely right and so is anyone who agrees with me!’

Cass makes a good point – and one could just as easily blame the route one hoofball tactic, as much as the back 5 period. But to add some nuance to that too, perhaps that was something to do with bad pitches, particularly at home, and less inclination to play it on the ground as much?

Guess Merch labs liked the sons flag.
“There is a light that never goes out” must admit it goes down well with fans everywhere whenever it gets a run out.

Aye, not heard that phrase before.

FFS. They’ve gone from slating and not allowing posts from anonymous participants that don’t have a profile pic, to universal acclaim and adulation for volunteers cleaning seats in ‘the corner’. Yes, much praise justified for the volunteers but the hypocrisy made me laugh.

Sorry MKI, another post about what’s happening on t’uther side :)

I blame not signing Declan Howe and not having the corner back till now. Had those two things happened we’d have pissed the league backwards

All well in hindsight Les. Other teams in the top 8 could well blame certain parts of their season for not gaining top spot. No use whatsoever to keep pointing the finger at that aspect. It’s done. I could equally say, I blame that amazing last 6-8 games Brackley has cost us. A lot of people punishing the kid who’s already learnt his lesson.

I reckon something like this design listing promotion sides of 1999, 2007 and 2009 could sell well (claret shirt, blue text). 1983 I’d like but might be restricted more to us older ones:

Are you copyrighting any of these designs to ensure there’s no reproductions by other sellers?

I think you’re right about the quote. And yes, along with needing to be correct, it would have to be presented well as a design piece / tasteful typeface etc.

The owner was there on Saturday, looking none too pleased. As for Rosenior he’s doing fairly well at Colchester ermmm Chelsea’s feeder club. They’re welcome to his tippy tappy keeper pass to full back, back to keeper, pass to the other fullback ‘brand’ of football.

Is he Jimmy Dean in disguise?

A badge like design that captures an old sponsor like Pleasure Island / Brikenden / Scunthorpe EZ etc that means something only to Iron supporters (i.e makes other fans inquisitive). Bit like this but not as ugly (.e. not a small shirt!)

    Scunthorpe 1996 Tee

That’s rubbish but the Subbuteo style one is great.

I know, just riffing it. Fresh out of ideas for now anyway!

Re-hash that well known Blur cartoon face design to include old Iron players like Cammack, O’Berg, Neenan, Duncan etc. Just singular as a badge on t-shirt.
