They’re there to stop pitch invasions not act like a guerrilla faction fighting fire with fire. There are ways of crowd controlling and some of those security overstepped their remit, in my opinion. No room for them at the club or in society either.

Less to do with moving out of town (though it was / is a factor) and more to do with the tin can Pearson built and the current dross on the pitch. It’s always been pretty poor at Glanford Park but there has been times it’s been buzzing, particularly when the team are doing well, with some atmosphere at least. Add to that the declining state of the place and facilities, yes, Swann is massively to blame.

Choosing my words carefully: no room for these louts in football or society. Grossly dramatic? Not as grossly dramatic as attacking players and other club officials.

You’re right, he’s unlikely to know what’s going on with the family side of things. Particularly as he doesn’t appear know what’s going on with every other part of the club. If he did, surely he wouldn’t have made such a hash of it?

I think fans were happy to keep quiet about it till you brought it up. You don’t seem to be happy that fans are pretty quiet about it!

Supporter of another club complained about it to me the other day. Kept going on about it seeming very suspicious. Told him the facts, which we all know, and he still wouldn’t shut up. In the end I said ‘you know what, I don’t f***in care mate!’

I think awaywego’s point is perhaps that, granted, the club fail in many respects, but supporters are not forthcoming with praise when it appears to be due? What I would say to him is, what do you expect? Are you really surprised, given the cons far outweigh the pro’s? And if so, why? Is this just your latest misdirected pop at fellow supporters?

    Straw man argument definition:

‘… all ‘customers’ like you are doing is fast tracking the club into administration.

    Is that what you want???’

Agreed MKI. I have no idea what sort of salary he was on but he was part of the era of the debt racking up. However, I know there’s more to it than the black and white of balance sheets, player budget v debt. It’s the way the club has been run into the ground in general, including, in big part, the wider recruitment and transfer picture.

One of my favourite players during his tenure. Was he one of many luxuries we couldn’t really afford though?

In all serious though, I’ve seen some tier 10 Counties teams that would give our current squad a real test.

I think there’s a lot of truth in this. Factor in the psychology of the player who wasn’t sought and pursued early in pre-season but is perhaps one of ‘the scraps’ your new club has had to resort to because you’re all that’s left within a meagre budget, and the road to nowhere has begun. I’d be mightily surprised if this pre-season is any different.

I’ve been a speaker in a number of contexts too, but what has that got to do with how Hill performs in Pressers? If it sounds like BS, it could well be that. He’s part of a rotten legacy now. I’d prefer it if Lee found an alternative and rebuilds afresh without the stench of abject failure around (and I’m not saying this is Hill’s fault alone by any means).

Do they care? In other occupations the manager of such an unruly team would be disciplined too.

Like him or not, Laws knew how to discipline players and because the players knew that, it perhaps pre-empted more of the same? Why hasn’t Hill addressed it in a way that not only punishes but restores some faith?

My biggest concern isn’t the results Les, it’s the culture we’ve heard about that he’s presided over. And I wouldn’t suggest untried and untested. My point on that was more a questioning why the club might not even be interested in seeking an alternative, for which there must be candidates out there. Even if they were to pursue an alternative, is it clear who’d be making the decision? Lee, Peter or the Board? It’s a dog’s mess but having said all this, of course, if he’s staying I wish him well and hope he can do what I don’t think he can.

All it demonstrates to me is, our squad is so weak that any half decent team with something to play for could absolutely steamroll any first 11 we put out, given the desire and incentive to do so. NTFC haven’t got good enough grounds to go far with a complaint as far as I can tell. They’re forgetting who Rovers were playing – a key factor!

I’ve never been supportive of frequent manager changes but those of you who are favouring Hill staying, what are you basing your opinion on? Regardless of the results and the ‘you know who’ biggest problem, what gives you confidence he’s the man? His track record? Isn’t that trading on the past? The most worrying thing for me going forward is that all this player bad attitude (and the rest) is happening on his watch. He could get in whoever he likes but they’re not necessarily going to stay loyal, particularly in a rotten club, like ours has become. Just wondering if staying with Hill is the easier option than the club finding a better alternative?
